Bp Meds And Cough

Is there a good BP medicine that does not cause persistent cough? My husband is on Candesarten now and was on another drug of same class and has the cough again. He is 78, type two diabetic and due to past kidney stones has "compromised" kidneys but no kidney disease. Cannot tolerate cholesterol drugs and cholesterol stays at 240. What do you suggest we ask the doctor to prescribe for BP?

I tend to be very sensitive to medications, as well and many of them made me miserable, until my cardiologist researched which ones are known to cause the least amount of side effects, as compared to most others and the one that worked wonders for me, without making me miserable was Labetalol. I still take it, 3 times a day.

Its typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may include nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. However, I found them to all go away fairly quickly, after just a week or 2 of taking it.

It's an idea he could speak to his doctor about.

What does he take for his diabetes?

He takes Lantus and humilog for his diabetes and Urocit k for kidney stone prevention along with mag. and b6. Will ask doctor about your suggestion of labetalol for BP
