Hi bertha,

Sorry to hear about what's going on with your friend's anxiety. The medication your inquiring about called Ativan (Lorazepam) is in fact used to relieve anxiety. It works by slowing activity in the brain to allow for relaxation.

I don't know what types of reviews are out there for this medication, but I'd probably suggest playing it safe and going the natural route. Reason being is that this drug is addictive and based on your description, it sounds to me like your friend may still be recovering from addictive medications. Another trip to detox hospital doesn't seem like it would be in his or her best interest.

Has your friend considered seeing a psychiatrist, rather than a regular medical doctor?
