My 80 year old father has been advised to take Asomex 2.5 mg as his Blood Pressure shot up to 170/97. But i am in doubt whether it is the right medicine administered on him.

I am 65yrs old and i am on asomex 2.5mg and advantec tab 12.5 mg daily. In fact i take HALF OF EACH TAB IN THE EVENING after meals and my bp is 130/80. I have been taking these tablets for the past 4yrs when my bp was 220/120. I had ecg done by my treating Dr n it reveals no abnormality. The reason i take half of these tablets is that it gave me dizziness when i take the full dose.
have been using asomex but my pressure is 160/100. which is the best drug for pressure
Asomex is one of the good BP medicines. I've been using it for the last 10/12 years with not many side effects.
I haven't been taking my blood pressure med (Asomex 5mg) for 2 weeks now. Should I continue taking it if my blood pressure is in the range of 100/66 to 120/80?
Asomex contains the active ingredient Amlodipine, it is a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure and cardiac conditions.
Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and headache.
Koomar, have you consulted your doctor about the dizziness?
The Advantec contains Candesartan, which is an ARB and both it and the Amlodipine in the Asomex can cause dizziness as a side effect.
However, there are other things that could cause it, as well.
Have you ever checked your blood pressure at the times you got dizzy?
I am 50yr old and recentaly undergone by pass surgery.I am taking Metalor50 and Lossr H50.But my BP is remaining high(150/80) what to do?
I (72 years) take Asomax 2.5 one tablet daily after breakfast for last 3 years. About the same time I started getting chornic attacks of running nose. Doctors call it allergic; but I suspect that it may be a side effect of Asomax.
Can these two things be connected? What alternative to Asomax should I try to make sure?
