i was diagnosed by my doctor as having "very VERY bad bronchitis." i was prescribed the 6 day 4mg/pill methylprednisolone tablet pack. i have been taking them as she instructed, as well as using an inhaler with albuterol. i have one day left of the methylprednisolone (one pill) that i will be taking tomorrow morning. However, I am still coughing and needing the inhaler every 4 hours, along with an otc liquid that contains dextromethorphan hbr, guaifenesin, and phenylephrine hcl. at what point should i return to my doctor if the symptoms do not go away? ## Hello, Heather! How are you? I'm sorry that you're ill. There should have been some improvement, already, if the Methylprednisolone was working. The FDA lists it as a steroid class medication and it may cause side effec...

Is anybody get 150 ml infusion of simponi every two month? ## Hello, Felbons! How are you? Simponi is used to treat health conditions, such as RA, psoriatic arthritis and ulcerative colitis, as listed by the FDA. Possible side effects may include chills, night sweats, dry cough, skin rash and loss of appetite. Can anyone that's been on it chime in with their experiences? Have you started it already? If so, how are you doing on it? These medications work great for some people, but many others do seem to have problems with them. It really just varies from person to person.

I have bronchitis with a tinch of pneumonia. I also have degenerative disc in my back, herniated disc in my disc, and spurs with arthritis ## Hi raymond, Sorry to hear about your conditions. I too have been fighting off a pretty gnarly cough lately and can sympathize with how you may be feeling in that aspect. Have you gone in to see a doctor yet regarding the bronchitis or pneumonia? Pneumonia can become a serious and even life-threatening illness if left untreated, so I really hope you are able to seek medical attention sooner than later! Please feel free to keep us posted on your road to recovery! Wishing you well, David

Nabumetone is a prescription drug or over counter drug? ## Hi barbara, From what I could gather, Nabumetone is classified as a prescription-only medication here in the US. And not to sway off-topic but I saw a study by NIH.gov comparing the effects of other OTC nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, etc) relative to the effects of Nabumetone on conditions like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Interestingly enough the other over-the-counter NSAID's displayed similar efficacy in treating osteoarthritis, but Nabumetone was superior to them all when it came to rheumatoid arthritis. Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8356999 I only mention this because depending on what you intend on using Nabumetone for, there may be (easier to obtain) over-the-...

Have 3 bulging discs in neck and the others are moderate bulging. Can't get appointment to see Neuroligist until next week. MRI was from 10 days ago. Narcotics do not help with my pain. Tried Ben Gay, bio freeze and capsaicin cream. No relief. Tried ice and heat. Does not help. I can't stand the pain anymore. Should I go to the Emergency room? Someone give me help or advice. ## Hi Mark, Sorry to hear about your situation. You mentioned that narcotics don't help with your pain, and I have to wonder if you were to go to the emergency room, that narcotics would probably be one of the first things they'd offer you there? One thought though would be to ask them for something along the lines of Gabapentin/Lyrica which are generally prescribed for nerve pain. However medication...

This isn't a question but more of a notice to everyone to mske sure you ask your doctor questions before getting on this medication. I am anemic and had a blood transfusion & waa on Meloxicam 7.5. My doctor always watched me on it & asked if i was ok. I had gotten in a car accident & that doctor upped the mg to 15 even after i told her aboyt my condition. I took ut for awhile but wasn't feeling right. I went to my doctor & he took me off it right away all together. I feel better. Glad i talked to my doctor ## Hi Tracy, I couldn't agree more with you on the notion that we should be asking our doctors more specific questions relating to whatever medication they intend on prescribing us. Usually patients wait until they experience a problem before bringing somet...

How long I can take this without abuse it for anti inflamatory ## Abusing a medication occurs when you keep taking more and more of it to get high, or because you like the effects it has on you, it is not the same as long term use, if you are taking it as prescribed. Meloxicam is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and it can cause some problems with long-term regular use, such as stomach irritation, which could turn into ulcers and easier risk of bleeding, so you should consult your doctor on how long it is safe for you to use it. Learn more: Has your doctor prescribed it? ## Hi I am taking meloxicam 15mg once a day for rotator cuff pain. It is not helping very much. I have a partial tear of the supraspinatus tendon. I have tried so many different prescription drugs. The meloxicam, howeve...

My brother is taking Norco after a knee replacement, but a few days ago he came up with another problem. Having had gout before, he started getting redness and some swelling under the other foot. Can he take the green pill, Indomethacin while taking the Norco? ## Hello, Panda! How is your brother doing? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between these two medications, but it's always best to double check to be sure. So, there shouldn't be any problem, as long as his doctor approves. Norco is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. Indomethacin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory that's used to treat pain, fever and swelling. Side effects...

How long dose it take. For meloxicam to be metabolized out of your system if you have serious side effects, or an overdose? ## Hello, Chrissy! How are you? Generally, it takes about 5 to 6 half-lives for it to be fully processed out and Meloxicam has a half-life of approximately 20 hours for women, so that would be 100 to 120 hours. However, if you had a bad reaction to it, then there should be a gradual improvement over that time period. An overdose, however, might be different, because that could cause liver damage and/or stomach damage. So, that should be checked out by your doctor. What type of reaction did you have to it?

Xray shows bone to bone on my right knee. ## Hi Arnie, Sorry to hear about the condition your knee is in. Did your doctor recommend any types of supplements or nutritional regimen to help rebuild the cartilage? According to the MayoClinic, glucosamine is one of the substances that our body's naturally use to build cartilage. Supplements containing glucosamine are also relatively inexpensive at most health food stores, so that may be something worth considering. Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is another supplement touted for similar uses as well. But there are a plethora of other alternative options out there if you're willing to experiment for a while until you find out what works best. My theory is that if you continue to give your body the right tools (via vitamins, minerals, and...

I have been taking coxflam on and off for a year or two or three for inflammation of the knees. I have osteo arthritis and now have it in my back as well. I find some relief from Coxflam which I sometimes also use with a pain killer such as Mypaid forte. I am concerned that this will eventually cause stomach problems as I also have diverticulitis. Sometimes I feel like taking my chances as the pain gets the better of me and the relief worth it. Please give me your thoughts on this. thank you Nicolene

I have severe arthritis and am disabled . i have moved to jasper al and have to find dr willing to fill my narcotics and treatment ## Hello, Bbbreth! How are you? I'm very sorry that you're in pain. However, there is no listing of doctors according to what they will or will not prescribe that I can refer to for you. The only thing you can really do is see a new doctor, make sure they get a full copy of your most recent medical records, then go to an appointment with them and discuss your treatment options. And due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. A general practice physician won't be able to prescribe them. Can anyone recommend a good doc...

I am at the mercy of the medical and insurance systems for any quality of life possible for me after a failed back surgery led to an unstable spine and 57 degree curve scoliosis. I also have spinal stenosis, severe nerve root impingement, hip replacements in both legs after I was misdiagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and placed on steroids that caused spinal and general bone degeneration. I am in severe pain without medication. I wake up every morning in pain and have to take MEDS to begin to function. My former pain management doctor was under- medicating me, and I suffered a fractured hip during this time my doctor refused to increase my MEDS. My primary increased my MEDS and the pain stopped robbing me of my life. I later reduced the MEDS to the lower dose when the fracture healed s...
