I am suffering from osteoarthritis of knee I am prescribed celadrin capsules and kondro acute tablets. please let me know how it works in the body and its side effects and precautions if any. ## Celadrin is actually an over the counter supplement that claims to help with joint lubrication. The only ingredients they actually list are Esterified Oils, but they don't specifically say what they are. This also means that the side effect profiles have not been studied, nor have any precautions, since it is not a prescription medication. Kondro Acute contains Glucosamine and Diacerein. The Glucoasmine is another supplement of a substance naturally found in the body. The Diacerein is used as an anti-inflammatory to help treat pain and swelling. Its side effects can include: nausea, drowsine...

How long will meloxicam remain in my system? I am having an outpatient surgery on Monday for my lower back, 20 min in and out! I took a meloxicam Friday! ## Hello, Leigh! How are you? It is actually recommended that you stop taking it 7 days, before surgery. It would be best to inform your doctor that you've taken it, as you may need to reschedule the procedure. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have one like that and it is a 7.5 milligram meloxicam which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory an analgesic works very well for joint pain and fever reducer but only take one a day. It does take a little time it has to build up in the blood system and you have to be very consistent taking it at the same time each day. ## Meloxicam works best if taken regularly and around the same time each day, but it will still have some effect, even if taken occasionally. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything I can help with?

Effects of this medicine This medicine suppresses prostaglandin synthesis that causes inflammation, and acts to ease swelling/pain induced by inflammation as well as to bring down fever. It is usually used to treat rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. It is also used to reduce pain and inflammation after surgery, wounds and tooth removal, as well as to bring down fever or ease pain induced by acute inflammation of upper respiratory tract.

I'm taking meloxicam 7.5 mg and I have no refills. I'm having problems with night pain and wanted to take Aleve PM. I took the last Meloxicam about 12 hours ago. Could I take Aleve PM or do I need to wait for the Meloxicam to leave my system completely? ## Hello, Liz! How are you? They are both nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, so unless your doctor instructs otherwise, you can usually just switch smoothly from one to the other. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. With the added ingredient in the Aleve PM, you may also experience dry mouth. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been taking Celebrex and now my prescription plan sends me generic and it is not working for me, I am miserable. Are all generics from different companies all the same? ## Hello, Lizzie! How are you? What types of symptoms are you experiencing? No, not all generics are the same. Under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, they are allowed to differ from the name brand, in the amount of the active ingredient, by as much as plus or minus 20%. They also do not have to measure against each other, only against the name brand, so one generic may be a little higher or lower in the amount of the active ingredient than the next. Usually, the differences are minute and your body will adjust after a week or so. How long have you been taking this new one? What are the markings on it?

Today took 2 7.5 mg meloxicam by mistake for arthritic neck, at lunchtime. 3rd day. I am also taking 1 Panamax every 4 hours as I'm waiting to see a dentist for an aching tooth. Is this safe? ## Hello, Susan! How are you? That isn't necessarily a dangerous dose, but it does increase the risk of side effects, which the U.S. FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, bleeding and stomach irritation. However, you should inform your doctor as higher doses also increase the risk of liver damage. Panamax is classified as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. They can be taken together, as long as your doctor or dentist approve, though that may al...

I was prescribed Medrol by a pulmonologist today. Instead of a dose pack I was prescribed 20 loose 4 mg tablets. The instructions say to take 4 tablets daily for 5 days. Can this be right?? In the past I've always been prescribed dose packs that decrease the dosage daily? Please advise. ## Hello, Kenzen! How are you? While dose packs are sometimes still prescribed, it's been found that short-term use of some steroids, doesn't require tapering. It depends on which one it is, the dosage and how long someone will be taking it. If you are concerned, please double check with your doctor or pharmacist, before taking them. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, acne and insomnia. Is there anything el...

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you! I have a tube of artro silium "Flexibility/Elasticity". What is it to be used for? ## Hello, Harry! How are you? This is an over the counter holistic product that is claimed to help with joint health, when originally purchased, you'd get a tube of the gel, as well as a bottle of capsules to take. The manufacturers list them both as containing natural organic silica, queen of the meadow extract and black currant. Since the FDA only classifies this as a supplement, that means it isn't actually proven to help with anything. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Rub it on wherever you have arthritic pain. It's the best thing available.

Pain relief for chronic spinal arthritis for opoid tolerant patient ## Hello, David! How are you? I'm sorry that you're in pain. What opiates have you tried? Fentanyl may be an option, if you've exhausted the others. It's the most potent one available and is usually prescribed in a skin patch that is changed every 48 to 72 hours. It's an idea you could discuss with your doctor. The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation. ## Thanks Version. Relev-X is just a nutritional supplement and while these products can make a lot of claims, they are not actually proven to work. The other ingredients are listed as: Fish oils, while willow bark, curcumin, licorice, boswellia, cat's claw and devil's claw. My Meloxicam expired 2 year's ago. I work in a pharmacy and know how to store it, so my question is can I take it again? I've been having issues with my elbow and ibuprofen isn't helping. Thank you ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? It does not become dangerous, once expired, but medications do slowly lose effectiveness over time. More so, if they are exposed to the elements that cause degradation, such as heat, light and moisture. Your doctor may okay you taking it, even though it's expired, but ideally it would be best to obtain a new prescription. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and stomach irritation. Have you had your elbow checked out?
