I know not to take any of the Ibuprofen NSAID family, those of the dangers of interaction with the steroid. I've been taking regular Tylenol but they only help me for an hour or two of the most. Is there anything stronger that anyone can recommend to help me with the pain? I've done the 4mg pill regiment. I did fine. But only felt about 2weeks of relief. It's been two months ago, now I'm on day two of new six day pill regimen and it's causing me bad nausea this time around. Has anyone taking the shot? If so please give details? How many shots? Any side effects? How long dose it help for? How often can you take it? Thanks in advance! ## Hello, Ronnie! How are you? I am sorry about the problems you're experiencing. The shot and pills are about the same, so your period of relief will be very similar, so will the side effects, according to the NIH. You may also experience dizziness, insomnia, heart palpitations, and headache. As to how many shots, or how often, that really depends on what your doctor feels is safe for you. Are you on any o...

I'm on day 3 of a 6 day prescription of Methylpredisolone prescribed for acute bronchitis. My face is extremely flushed and I think it's the med. Is there any danger in stopping before any other symptoms should occur? I'm not interested in subscribing to the health newsletter but hope you will still address my issue. Thank you ## That can be a normal side effect of this medication, according to the FDA and yes, it could be dangerous to stop it, rather than tapering it, as prescribed. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia, nausea, mood swings, and nervousness. They are usually harmless and should go away a few days after you finish your course of treatment. Are you on any other medications?

My wife has been on Actemra for about 6-7months now and her doctor says it's working, my wife disagrees. Due to her having to be on prednisone (very low dose 10mgs daily) she has now been diagnosed with Cushings as well. She is the most advanced RA patient this doctor says he has ever treated and that since her neck is deteriorated to the point of coming apart, he says she has to stay on the Actemra to slow down the progression. She feels worse every single day. She was misdiagnosed for 10+ years and by the time we found a Doctor to believe her it was too late to stop it. She was to far gone. She has gone from 140lbs all her life (shes now 51) to 270+ and nobody seems to have an answer other then it's from the steroids and pain meds, neither of which she can stop. Her legs are s...

I went to the doctor for a cold sore outbreak and was prescribed this 6 day steroid dose pack... This was at the first of the month... How long does the side effects last? ## You shouldn't take steroids for cold sores, it can actually make them worse, because they wake up the virus that causes them. As to the side effects, which the FDA lists as possibly also including nausea, acne, headache, insomnia and fluid retention, they shouldn't last more than a week, or so, after you fishing your course of treatment. What types of side effects are experiencing? ## I agree 100% with Verwon and hope you are doing well. I can't believe a doctor prescribed steroids for fever blisters, unbelievable.

Somebody told me that I could only take it once or maybe twice per year because it could be dangerous but other people tell me that is not the case at all and I can take it again whenever is necessary ? ## Hello, Ronnie! How are you? In a way both are correct statements, it shouldn't be taken long-term, or more frequently, unless your doctor instructs you to do so, because there can be risks, according to the FDA. What can I do or take to provide relief? ## Hello, Michelle! How are you? What medications have you tried and what advice has your doctor provided? Mpathia in RI: I have read so many things and there is definitely something going on behind the scenes. Yes, ALL of you should read the new regulations, because the next time you have an appt. with your PCP or even pain centers ( they are a joke nyway... In RI, "pain Management is considered as Cortisone shots & maybe Lidocaine, etc. These meds become ineffective over time & can cause irepairable damage. What is the alternative? According to the guidelines all people on pain killers are addicts. I am not going to dispute that, however, there is no other options you can take. Tylenol is about all you will get. You MUST read the new guidelines because your doctor is NOT. The regulations are so strict and complicated, doctors prefer to just rid themselves of chronic pain patien...

I have only taken 500mg for 2 days. My last dose was at 8am on 9/10/16. I am no longer going to take them since it was giving me a migraine. We have a family party today at noon and would like to have a beer or 2 but everything says no drinking, would I be fine? ## Everything piece of clinical literature I've read on Nabumetone and alcohol also implicate serious drug interaction warnings. So take it for what you will, but I would personally advise against any combination of those two substances, even the smallest amount. If on the other hand the medication is out of your body then that's a different story, but I think it would probably be best to wait at least a few days to drink since Nabumetone has a long half life. I hope this helps!

I take meloxicam , I have found that the effectiveness changes with manufacturer . Does anyone know which generic is the most like brand name Mobic? ## Meloxicam manufactured by Cipla USA is the absolute WORST. It has so many fillers it may as well be a placebo and does not relieve arthritis pain in any way. I find that the generic manufactured by Lupen Pharmaceuticals is the best out there. I have taken 15mg daily for several years and it has improved my mobility dramatically. Unfortunately, pharmacies change manufacturers frequently, so if you find that your current pharmacy stores one that does not work for you, either change pharmacies or have your doctor prescribe the name brand, if possible. ## Hi Carol, In conjunction with the helpful information in Rachel's post, I just want...
