Most doctors are unwilling to prescribe pain medication that will relieve my pain. Would appreciate names of doctors who can help me. ## Well, you aren't going to have any choice but to go through pain management, due to the new laws. They make it so that a general practitioner, or surgeon will only be able to prescribe pain medications for short-term use, such as for a couple of weeks immediately after someone has had surgery or been in an accident. I was told I was being injected with cordizone and found out it was 4 cc"s of lidicaine and one other ingredient. Is lidacaine normally in a cordizone shot? ## Hello, Stephen! How are you? Cortisone should contain exactly that, it is classified by the FDA as a corticosteroid that is used to alleviate inflammation. Your doctor may use it with Lidocaine, because it is a local anesthetic that can help relieve pain, until the steroid has a chance to work. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including administration site irritation, redness, swelling and headache. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I am the person who thought he was getting cortisone and found that the injection given was 4 c c's Lidocaine and the mystery ingredient I found was Kenalog? My reac...

I'm having back pain and took a 15 mg meloxicam after having taken 3 Aleve 1 hour prior. Should I be concerned about interaction of two? ## Hello, Mary! How are you? These are both classified by the FDA as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, so you shouldn't double up, you should stick with one or the other in the recommended dosage amounts and intervals. Taking them together increases the risk of bleeding, stomach ulceration and similar conditions. Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness and headache. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I was instructed by my orthopedic dr to take two Aleve in the morning and two Aleve at night. How does this compare to taking one 15 mg Meloxicam a day?
I started taking Meloxicam 1 week ago. It says to take one a day. Can I take one every other day? Or as needed? Also, how long should a person stay on this drug? ## What has it been prescribed to treat? This is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory and is usually prescribed to be taken as needed, but there might be some reason your doctor wanted you to take it regularly. I'm taking Nucynta 100mg 4 x a day with IB profen 800mg 3 x a day for back pain but am currently out of Nucynta so I have been taking Tylenol/Codeine # 3 and # 4 with my IB Profen and a few 7.5 Meloxicam. I should be getting my refill today but I take the other meds to keep from going into withdrawels, been there several times getting off Oxy, and several other opiates and it is nothing nice. Are these safe to mix? ## You should not be mixing the Ibuprofen and the Meloxicam, the FDA classifies these both as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories, so you are essentially doubling up on the same medication, which increases your risk of bleeding, stomach irritation, and possible ulceration. How are you doing? There is also a risk of liver damage from combining those two medications, according...

As to your other question, it depends on what you want to take it with? I'm sorry, but your post wasn't clear. Can you please post back and clarify? Thank you!
