Anyone Take Paxil And Gained Weight? (Top voted first)

Started Paxil about 2 months ago and I have quickly gained 20 pounds. I can't stop eating, constantly crave sweets (as I'm eating a package of s'mores Pop Tarts). Paxil is helping me so much though, I can't decide if I should be happy (but unhappy with my body), calm, and chubby (possibly bordering on fat soon) ... or listless, socially anxious, and skinny.... just seeing if anyone else has a similar experience

Hello, Vincent! How are you?

Paxil is classified by the FDA as an SSRI and most of them are very well known to cause weight gain in people that take them. My ex-husband had the same problem, it was the only one that consistently worked for him, but it caused a lot of weight gain.

Other side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth.

Is there anything else I can help with?

Hi! Thank you! I just wanted to see if anyone else had a similar experience. I just moved up to 30 mg, but surprisingly I'm starting to lose the weight that I was gaining in the beginning. This is my 4th month on Paxil..so I'm hoping that this keeps up! Thanks again for responding!

Awesome!! That could be due to your feeling better, so not as much emotional eating.

That's something that people with anxiety and depression tend to do.
