for alhemzmers spelled wrong ## For the past few months, the assisted living center my Aunt was staying in in NY was treating her with Haldon. Last week we moved her to an assisted living center in Atlanta so she would be closer to family. The new assisted living center thinks Haldon is too strong and wants to switch her to another drug. Does anybody have any experience with a Haldon substitute? If so, was it successful and what was it? Many thanks! ## Are you referring to the medication Haldol? If so, then yes, there are other options available, please speak to her doctors. ## Respridone is pretty close to haldon as my doctor tells me I was on resperidone for about 4 months with great results but my iinsurance ran out and can no longer afford the drug so my doctor put me on haldon goin...

I like to make a public account of my expereience with seroquel or / quetiapine. To be as frank as possible this drug should only be used as your last resort as the negatives far out weigh the positives in my opinion. I took this drug to treat my mild to moderate tactile hallucinations which developed from extreme stress earlier in 2013. I took 25mg of seroquel (50mg cut in half) for about 2 weeks and then I took a full tablet of 50 mg of seroquel for another 2 weeks and then because of the side effects of mild kindey/liver pain plus mild heart pain i began to taper off the drug for another 2 weeks taking about 15mg of seroquel. I'm a 34 year old male pretty athletic and i was really suprised that i was getting all this liver, heart discomfort while on the drug. Also i noticed my jo...

I have been taking Seroquel for a year now for insomnia. Anybody else take Seroquel for this? I have looked around and it doesn't even seem that Seroquel is normally given to someone for this. ## I also have been taking seroquel for insomnia for about a year and a half now. I must say, my Dr tried every sleeping pill out there on me. This is the only thing that has worked for me, I've never had a sleepless night since. I was also being treated for panic attacks and depression at the time. But all my life I had trouble sleeping, I'm talking up till 5 or 6 am with a million things racing through my mind (stupid stuff) but not any more. My doc told me that in low doses, it does work on some people for insomnia. ## Good information ## My son has OCD and was put on Seroquel for s...

I was diagnosed by a different doctor for adhd and I am taking adderall ir 20mg x2. She seems to think possibly i could have been misdiagnosed by a different doctor. Anyways she claims that the VRAYLAR would give me abundance of energy?. Humm could this be true? More energy than my adderall? Which I'm not ready to give up!. Please any feedback would be great thx ## I have a friend who is really bipolar and he was given that medication and the change in him was amazing. He’s calm now, where he used to be completely off the rails, or in a depressive fog. He loves it. It’s so drastic people ask him what new meds he’s on. ## FYI I have ADD and Chronic ...

The first week he was taking 25mg, then 50mg & only heard voices a little, now going on his 3rd week and almost up to 200mg and the voices are stronger and getting a little violent. Is this normal? ## Hi Dennis. I'm here to help. I have a 19 yr old daughter in your same situation. This medicine is poison point blank and the symptoms and side effects only get worse the higher the milligrams and the longer the individuals is on this medication. Stop allowing them to give yr son more and try to talk to someone about winging him off this medicine slowly. I can tell you they're not gonna recommend this because they make a killing off of making us sick off this medicine telling...

Looking to find out the best medicine to treat schizophrenia. ## Hello, Valerie! How are you? There is really no 'best medicine' so to speak. It depends on the person and what works for them. Not all medications work for everyone that tries them, which is why they are usually several options to try in any given treatment category. For example, I have high blood pressure and while the 'best' medication for many people is Metoprolol, it made me very sick and I had to stop taking it. It also didn't significantly lower my blood pressure. That said, what medications have you tried? Some people do better with an older medication, such as Risperdal, though as reported by the FDA, it can cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, somnolence and weight gain. But others ha...

Hi, I am 25 years old and have just been prescribed risperdal For my severe auditory, visual, and tactile hallucinations from bipolar mania psychosis. I went to therapy today and explained about my previous week, full of terrifying and vivid hallucinations and the delusional State that followed- I did not believe my husband when he attempted to explain that I was hallucinating and was sure that he would have me institutionalized (yet again), when that wasn't the case. For example: I actually believed that mirrors were a gateway to a different spirit plane and watched as a winged demon by the name of Riley Blue came through and attempted to claim my soul if he successfully persuaded me to commit suicide. I clawed my face up when he touched my cheek. Then came August, a feathered demo...

What causes schizophrenia and what are some treatment options? ## From the NIH: The cause of schizophrenia are not completely known. Some doctors believe it's the brain not allowing itself to process information acurately. If schizophrenia runs in your family, it is known to be more common to get the disease. Other doctors believe that your environment can also cause the disease to occur. If you feel concerned I would contact your doctor, and let them know what you are experiencing. Do you have any more questions or information to add? ## It's a hormonal imbalance in the brain that can cause a person to hallucinate, hear voices, become detached from their reality, exhibit psychosis. It's not good and patients generally need to stay on their meds in order to prevent episodes....

I only ask because you would actually need to check and see if methamphetamine poses any serious risks with whatever it is that you might be considering. Some things like Oxycodone, could actually be very dangerous when mixed, but without any name to go off of I really can't help you past that point, since drug interaction checkers also require you to be...

If Caregivers lapse the 300 mg twice a day, Fazaclo for a week, can it be started up again without loss of effectiveness. 36 year old daughter on Clozaril, taken off due to dangerous levels of white blood count and put on a national list, then put back on Fazaclo by another doctor, saying it was a safer form. Daughter went into hospital and was given emergency injection of Haldol and was off Fazaclo two days. Went to a group home, and the blood test took a week to come back, off Fazaclo for 7 days, during time receiving Halperidol injections IM. I was told that the Clozaril loses its ability to work if it is allowed to lapse. ## It isn't that Clozaril entirely loses its ability to work, but that it works best when taken regularly, so a constant level of it is maintained in the body....

Hi to all. I took Olanzapine 10mg for 6 Yrs & suffered a very strange & worrying side effect due to the Drug. After 3 Months of taking it, I literally stopped sleeping any more than 2 hours a night, characterized by no sleepiness prior to sleep onset (just blacked out) & no feelings of fatigue either physically or mentally despite days without sleep. I also had no drug effect from multiple Drugs, such as Alcohol, even after drinking 2 Litres of strong Wine, rather just no respiratory depression (very worrying), virtually no intoxication & no bodily effects such as warming effect, gate change (Cerebellar). I became so worried & distressed by this that I set out to withdraw from all Drugs & Alcohol in the hope that the fore mentioned extremely strange & bafflin...
