i have been on 5mg of Brintellix for a week for anxiety and depression. My doctor wants me to go up to 10mg. She said the drug should also help me with focus. I still feel anxious and a little dull witted. I have burned food on the stove twice which is a rarity for me. It mentions in the warnings not to drive a car until I know the full effect of the Brintellix. Now, how realistic is that? Now I am nervous about driving my grandkids. So much for helping my anxiety. I am now nervous about going up to 10mg. I know this drug probably will not take effect for a few weeks but I am not sure if I should continue. ## Hello, Mary! How are you? Unfortunately, you'll get that same warning with almost all medications, due to the fact that there's a risk of them making you dizzy and drowsy. ...

My wife, age 63 has been on Oleptro Extended Release 150MG for 2 years for MDD (major depressive disorder). She takes one tablet at night before bed. It has been working well for her. However, when I went to get the refill her 30 day supply, Sam's Club said they could not get it because their supplier--Bergman--had it on back order with no specific time to supply. I checked with Randall's pharmacy who is supplied by Cardinal Health--same thing, backordered with no "fill" time. Checked with CVS and Kroger-McKesson is supplier--same thing, backordered. Anyone have any information about why this drug is not available? ## Hello, Steve! How are you and your wife? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. I haven't been able to find any information on why it ...

If so, it is listed as containing the active ingredient Paroxetine, which is an SSRI antidepressant that can also treat anxiety. And yes, weight gain is a known side effect, as reported by the FDA. I have been taking Lexapro for 2 years and have decided that is enough. My doctor suggests taking 1 tablet every 2nd day for 2 weeks, and then one every third day for 2 weeks. 10mg. Not sure this is the right way about it. ## Hello, Stephen! How are you? That is the modern preferred tapering method for such a medication. The FDA lists the typical withdrawal effects as possibly including nausea, fever, chills, diarrhea, rebound depression and rebound anxiety. Have you started his plan, yet? It should help to minimize the withdrawal symptoms.
I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, and given Abilify A few weeks ago I became depressed and the doctors want to add Lexapro. I was given the generic. Will these two medications interact with each other. So far I have not started the Lexapro 5mg and I only take 7mg of Abilify per day. I have a family history of diabetes. I am not a diabetic, but my father has diabetes. I read Lexapro can cause diabetes in some patients. I was taken off Resperidone because of sudden weight gain. ## Hi KeKe, My findings state that there are in fact unsafe interactions between Abilify (aripiprazole) and Lexapro (escitalopram). Quoted below are the precautions you should be aware of: "Escitalopram may increase the blood levels and effects of Aripiprazole. This can make you more likely to develop s...
I am gaining weight (around my top waist)...very fast.... I am 60 and never had it.... Can it be the Nuzac? I am taking one every 2nd day for 2 years now... ## Hello, Elizabeth! How are you? This medication is listed as containing the active ingredient Fluoxetine and no, it's actually better known for being weight neutral or causing weight loss in some people that take it. However, the weight gain could be a normal symptom of aging, especially if you're postmenopausal. Gaining in that area of the body is a normal side effect of hormonal changes in women. Have you consulted your doctor? Are you on any other medications?
I am now day 6 on Cilift. There might be a slight lift in my depression, but I cannot get myself to get out of bed. Is this normal in the beginning? ## Hello, Emispi! How are you? Yes, it can cause drowsiness, dizziness, headache and dry mouth as side effects, as reported by the FDA. However, they should also improve with time and eventually go away, entirely, once your body gets used to the medication. It usually takes about 4 to 5 weeks. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi, thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately the Cilift clashed terribly with the Epilum (or I just had bad side effects.) I could not get out of bed, had no energy, (did feel a little better after 3 weeks), but the nauseas was extremely terrible. I could not eat for 3 days (nothing). I vomited the whole time,...
Hi, I am on Lamitor 100mg daily and Venlor 37.5mg also daily. Which of these has killed my libido? Or is it both? (Horror!!) Thanks. ## Hello, Fiona! How are you? It occurs very commonly as a side effect of the Venlor, which contains Venlafaxine, as reported by the FDA, so that is the most likely culprit. You may also experience nausea, headache, dry mouth, weight changes and hypotension. You may want to consult your medical provider about trying a different medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Hi Verwon, Thanks for that. I have since stopped the Venlor and my libido has almoat normalised again so you were tight.. 90% main culprit. I am due to go on Wellbutrin next week and I'm nervous. Don't want a repeat but if it brings me out out this ADHD state (which I am...

Withdrawing or tapering off Venlafaxine (37.5 tab 3 daily, 1 am., 2 night. This experience is what I imagine going to an opium den must be like. Pay your $$, get a pipe and be in a stupor for the next 6 hrs. Then in the evening, more or less recover only to experience insomnia, of course, been in bed all day! My first night taking doxepin 75 mg, it's been an hr and nothing. Taking for insomnia, anyone have any opinions ## Hello, Shyanne! How are you? This medication is actually classified by the FDA as a tricyclic antidepressant, so it isn't an actual sleep aid, it can just cause drowsiness as a side effect. That said, it will take about 3 to 4 weeks, before it reaches its full level of efficacy in your body to see how well it works for you. Other possible side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can you safely dissolve Bupropion SR 150 MG? The tablet is hard to swallow. ## Hello, Ann! How are you? No, you cannot. The SR designates it as a time released mediation, so dissolving it may result in your getting to much of the medication, at once, which could cause an overdose. The best thing to do would be to speak to your medical provider about prescribing the regular release tablets, so you can cut or break them, if needed. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, nervousness and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?
Hello, my son (16) has been taken off of prozac. 10mg for 1 year. He was not tapered off, doc said it was unnecessary since it stays in the body longer than most others. He is 2 weeks off of it and is now having bad dizziness, confusion, nausea and is extremely irritable. He is generally a very easy going guy (even before meds) suddenly, he's very short tempered. Are these normal symptoms of discontinuing prozac, that will pass? Or am I right to be worried about this?? ## Hello, Kassie! How is your son doing? Yes, as listed by the FDA, those can be normal withdrawal symptoms and they should pass in a few weeks, once his body gets used to being without the medication. He may also experience some rebound depression, anxiety and diarrhea. If the symptoms get severe, you should consult ...
