I have just come from the doctor now and she prescribed Alzam 0.25 mg and says I must take half a tablet when needed. I went to her to discuss full blown menopause which is what I have. The symptoms are very extreme with me having severe headaches and feeling very emotional at times. Some times I feel a little down in the dumps and I would cry. These are all symptoms of menopause including insomnia, irritability, mood swings, hot flushes and night sweats amongst other things. I am so skeptical about filling out this script, especially after reading how habit forming the drug is. Also the withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking it. I don't like the side effects of the drug as it will make me feel exactly the same as I'm feeling now. Maybe even worse! Any advice out there for men...

I have Gerd. Have been on tecta for the last four years. No problems until I started taking sertraline in April 2015. Since then I have had acid reflex symptoms, constantly spitting out phlegm and very very bad taste in mouth. Chronic. 40 mg of tecta once a day. 100 mg of sertraline once a day. Last endoscopy was in Oct. 2015, told to come back in 3 years. I am at my wits end. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you ## Hello Carolyn! How are you? Have you considered speaking to your doctor about switching off the Sertraline to see if things improve? There are other similar medications you can try. Its other typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include headache, dry mouth, weight gain and dizziness.

hello, my husband is on Effexor and he recently ran out and he started very scary. ive been raeding on the side effects of going without for a few days and this is terrible. is there anything that will help with the pain or something i can do as his partner to help him. he is angry all the time i dont know if i should be there for him or leave him alone? ## Unfortunately, those can be side effects of stopping it abruptly. Why didn't he see his physician for refills? Other withdrawal effects, as reported by the FDA, may include fever, chills and rebound depression. It may take a month, or so, for them to all ease off and for him to feel better. There really isn't a whole lot you can do, though if he has body aches/pain, a hot shower or bath may help.

I found s pill in my car is is a small oblong pull it has 0|8 on one side and a A on the other ## Hello, Bandit! How are you? This tablet is manufactured by Aurobindo Pharma and they list it as containing 15mgs of Mirtazapine, which is an antidepressant. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Can this medication be crushed and if not, is it available in a chewable or liquid form? I will be needing this in an alternative form in a few months and am looking into the alternatives ahead of time in order to be prepared. ## No, this one cannot, because the XL designates it as being time released. However, there is a regular release formulation available that you may be able to switch to, if you speak to your prescriber about it. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, insomnia and nervousness. Is there anything else I can help with?

My sister is in the hospital due to an overdose of Amitriptlyne. She had been taking 300mg for more than 25 years. She is now diabetic so her kidneys are not excreting the dosage like it should. Therefore when the blood level came back it was equal to 600mg. Therefore the doctors had no choice but to cut her off cold. She is very combative and screaming etc. How long will this last? ## Its hard to say whether or not she may be experiencing withdrawal symptoms from going cold turkey off the pill, or if the cognitive symptoms are simply from having too much serotonin. Amitriptyline has an average half-life of 15 hours. Half-life here means that, say, 15 hours after ingesting Amitriptyline, half of the active amount will be gone. This doesn't mean that 15 hours later, though, the other...

I take both meds 1 time a day. I have been on this medicine for two years. Will this show up on my urine test? ## Just for accurate information, ambien, like Lunesta and the "newer" now quite often used Sleeping Aids, ambien to help you fall asleep, as sonota (only thing I may do wrong is spelling... but not info) The three latest most prescribed sleeping meds for insomnia, Lunesta claims to keep you asleep, once asleep, but unfortunately of the three, none of them KEEP me asleep. They once had very good sleep drugs for insomnia but they were abused, as is ambien and are any drugs people like or double up on not getting the results told they'd get. It's very hard functioning when you can't sleep. The better sleeping drugs were benzos, but these are not benzos. And wi...

Hello, I started Lexapro at the end of August for GAD, first with 5MG then to 10MG then to 20MG after a month. Some time later (maybe 8 weeks), I started having tremors in my legs which has now spread to my trunk and arms. When I sit or lay down it's fine, but as soon as I move around it starts. Also dizziness. My question is this. Can it be Lexapro? Everyone says I'm crazy to think that I'm the 2% which it adversely affects. But my axiety has increased to where I'm wired all day and these other symptoms make it seem like it could be the Lexapro. Dr. keeps saying it is anxiety but I don't believe it. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks ## The tremors are actually listed as a fairly common side effect, according to the FDA. They also list the possibility of it causin...

I have been on lexapro 30 mg for 5 years- enough is enough so I switched to pristiq 50 mg- that is the lowest dose of pristiq and what I want to be on after being tired of side effects- how long should withdrawal symptoms last- it's day 12 without any lexapro and day 12 of 50 mg pristiq and I feel awful. ## At this point, you are probably experiencing withdrawal effects from stoping the Lexapro, as well as side effects from starting the Pristiq, so it may take a couple weeks for things to settle back down and for you to feel better. Has there been any improvement, yet? The FDA lists the typical side effects of Pristiq as possibly including dizziness, drowsiness, anxiety, vision changes and loss of libido. ## The price of lexapro really got me, but I found it only costs $8 with an RX...

I have been taking cymblta 60mg twice a day.I'm not depressed any more but now have hypersomia to the point of not being able to get out of bed.I also just started tapering my dose of kolonopin down from 2mgs to 1.5. But had hypersomia since starting on cymblta 1 year ago. Please help ## Hello, Elise! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem you're having. Somnolence can be a normal side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA. It can also cause dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. However, since it hasn't gone away in over a year, you may need to try a different medication. It is an SNRI antidepressant and there are several others that you could try, if your doctor approves. Has anyone else experienced this while taking Cymbalta? ##...

Hello, This is my first day of lexapro and I took 10 mg this afternoon. About 2 hours later I had awful diarrhea, and the nausea has been with me on and off all day. I think I may just start with 5mgs? Would that help me ease into this? I have terrible IBS when I'm nervous so this side effect isn't helping me. I took a zofran and 1mg Ativan to help me calm down from all the diarrhea (I have a fear of the stomach flu), but then I read the diarrhea and nausea are actually side effects of lexapro. Anyone else experience this? Also hot flashes today which is weird because I'm usually cold. ## Yes, those can be side effects of this medication, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and weight changes. However, they typically go away with ...

3rd week on pristiq and I'm still getting anxious and puking because of my anxiety. Should I give the 50 mg more time or ask for another solution? ## Hello, Lola84! How are you? It can take 4 to 5 weeks, before this medication reaches its full level of effectiveness in your body, it can also cause some increased anxiety, for awhile, while you're body is getting used to it. Thus, it may be best to give it a couple more weeks to see if things settle down and it helps you, unless your doctor feels otherwise. The FDA lists its other typical side effects as possibly including dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

Just stared taking Bupropion hcl xl 150 six days ago. Just switched from Cymbalta, having problems with headache, dizziness, difficulty sleeping, and a couple seconds long period of confusion. I am wondering if these will pass as I adjust to this drug. Probably will call doctor but wanted to hear from people who have experienced this ## Hello, Susan! How are you? What you've described are all reported as possible side effects of this medication by the FDA. You may also experience dry mouth and irritability. Side effects are usually transient and go away, once your body gets used to the medication, but that may take 4 to 5 weeks. They may also be compounded from stopping the Cymbalta, because that could cause some withdrawal symptoms. What did your doctor advise?

I have been on pain meds for years from my doctor and never had any problem, ever. All my urine tests came out the way they should, but my pain has gotten so bad and because of the new law my doctor sent me to a pain clinic. My first visit was great. But the next time I came in I was in for a shocker. My new pain dr, came in ask how I was and then told me he will no longer see me because in the urine test from my first visit tested positive for pcp. WTF!!! I've never taken that my entire life. I really don't even no what it is. How could this happen and what should I do? He didn't believe the truth. I even said test me again right now, but he said no and good bye. Is there a way I can prove my innocents and find out how this happened, and what I can do now? I know with my pa...

There seems to be some demand for a GLYX-13 discussion (now known as Rapastinel) so I would like to start one here. ## Great! Do u need me to help notify everyone who has written about it? Especially because two people are currently in studies! ## Yeah that would be great, the link to here is posted in the other thread but if you have a way to get ahold of them that would be good. ## From what I could gather, GLYX-13 is said to be a molecular cousin to "ketamine", inducing similar antidepressant properties without the common street drug side effects. This info was reported from a study funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) that was published this past April 2013 in Neuropsychopharmacology. I think other's who may be in the following Ketamine discussion thr...

Took one 25mg tablet of sertraline lfeel horrible. IM lightheaded, dizzy, naseous, and can't eat or even smoke a cigarette! Is this normal after just one dose? If I stand to long I feel faint and all I can do is lay in bed. Should I continue this medication if it's making me feel this horrible after just one dose? ## Sorry to hear that Sertraline isn't working out for you. This drug can cause a wide variety of side effects, many of which you can view by clicking here. nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, excessive tiredness, & headache are all regarded as common side effects. That said, I would personally suggest trying some sort of natural antidepressant or at least something that has a safer track record.
