After about 3days my husband and friends starting noticing a change in me. I was tired all the time and acting distant. By about the 9th day the real problems began. It started when I didn't remember how to use my cell phone. When I tried to ask my son for help I wasn't able to make any sense. My husband took me to the ER where the doctors thought that I had a stroke. I couldn't even remember who the president was, the year it was or the year that I was born. Worst of all, I couldn't remember who my husband of 43 years was. I couldn't sleep, had no appetite and other side effects that I can't remember. After 4days in the hospital, a b...
I can't stay awake! I almost made my daughter late to school today! I'm on 3 mg of Xanax a day and 40 mg of by rid PLUS my thyroid is out of wack! I know I need to be on more! I think this is why I'm so sleepy all of the time, but I'm thinking of cutting my viibryd in half and just taking 20 mg a day! To see if that will help! I'm on a drug they give soldiers that come home from war and take 3 a night to sleep or I have horrible nightmares :/ Any ideas??? ## It is most likely the Xanax, it is well known to cause drowsiness and, in some case, when other options aren't working, it's actually used to treat insomnia. It may be best to speak to your doctor, as 3mgs may be too high of a dose for you. The FDA warns that it also carries the risk of being habit formin...
I had one shot on 27/05/15 and my last period was 13/06/15. I didn't go back for second shot and didn't have a period yet. I did. However start an antidepressant at the end of June 2015, could that be the cause of my periods missing? Any info would be great! ## What shot did you have and what antidepressant are you on? Yes, some antidepressants can lengthen your menstrual cycle, as reported by the U.S. FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there a chance you are pregnant?
Hello, I have been on Pristiq for about 5 or 6 months. Today I accidentally took my pill twice. I'm wondering if I've just messed up big, I don't want to mess up my dosage! ## Hello, Dylan! How are you? Just doing it once won't screw anything up on a permanent basis in regards to your dosage. However, as listed by the NIH, taking too much could cause liver or kidney damage, so you should inform your doctor of what happened, so they can check it out to be safe. Is there anything else I can help with?
I began taking Wellbutrin about a year and a half ago. I started at 200 mg. And am still at that dosage. It caused me to lose about 30 pounds, which is great. It gave me energy and suppressed my appetite. But within the past few months I've noticed the medicine doesn't work as well as it used to and I'm gaining the weight back dramatically and my diet is the same. My question is, if my doctor ups the dosage, would it help me lose weight again? Or is my body already used to the medication to where it wouldn't be as beneficial as when I began? ## Hello, Hans! How are you? Upping your dose may help, it usually does cause the side effects to recur, which is basally what you want. Alternatively, you could ask your doctor about trying Contrave, it contains the same active ingr...

Going off Viibryd: From 40mg, I went to 7 days of 20mg then 7 days of 10mg. I felt the affects and mostly it was anxiety/irritability. I was able to work but kept to myself. I did not socialize. I felt sick. When I went off totally it was/is horrible. I'm on my 6th day. I was unable to go to work. I was unable to drive. I was unable to leave my house for fear of flipping out and ending up in jail or hospital. I feel rage. I want to break things. I have yelled at the top of my lungs to two people on the phone. I'm confused, dizzy, disoriented, itchy (that's not new) and out of it. I'm confined to my house until further notice. Very scared and very confused. ## I am very sorry that you are going through this. Have things gotten any better, yet? These types of medications a...
My Dr has cut my Cymgen from 60mg to 30mg i am feeling out of sorts is that normal. She said its not good to take antidepressants for so long. But i felt fine taking them is it bad? ## Hello, Delwynne! How are you? There are risks with taking any medication on a long-term basis, but many people do require them for the rest of their lives, be it an antidepressant, a heart medication, a blood thinner, or a blood pressure medication. The risks may possibly include stomach ulceration, liver damage, liver failure or kidney damage/failure, as reported by the FDA. And yes, with such an abrupt lowering of your dosage, it is normal to feel out of sorts, it can cause withdrawal effects. Have you considered getting a second opinion from a different doctor? ## Hi there I am feeling a lot better. Do...

I have gained about 40 lbs. After starting cymbalta. It's the only thing different I've taken that could have affected my weight gain. I been off only a few days and monitoring everything I eat and reaction concerning withdrawal ## Weight gain can be a typical side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. Withdrawal symptoms may include rebound depression, anxiety, pain and diarrhea. How are you doing, now? ## Cried a couple of times today. 3 sec. Or so. Yesterday once for 2 sec.. Down a couple lbs. Feel OK.
Going back to Prozac after 10 mos. of cymbalta. Reason? Shortly after starting cymbalta I experienced increasing lack of energy and edema in my legs with weeping, sores and ulcerations. I continue to treat the edema under care. I take one dose of lasix each morning. This reduces some edema, not all. Weeping, sores, elastic compression hose are all a big part of my life. Scheduling activities to live a normal life is nearly impossible. The quality of my life is depressing. Is Prozac going to help or should I look to something else? ## Hello, Chuck! How are you? What condition is being treated? Many people do successfully take Prozac to treat depression and anxiety. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight loss. However...
I started on 10mg of Lexapro exactly a month ago for generalized panic disorder. My first week on it was AWFUL. Really bad side effects. My anxiety was extremely heightened, I felt like I was crawling out of my skin, awful headaches, I was so tired, could barely get out of bed. My psychiatrist prescribed me .5mg of ativan to take as needed every 8 hours for when I'm feeling extra anxious so that made me even more tired once I was getting used to it. On my 8th day or so, the side effects started to ware off more and more every day. I am now a month in, I don't have all those side effects anymore and the ativan doesn't make me sleepy, but my anxiety isn't any better than it was before I started on the medication. I'm still avoiding going places, I feel extremely down a...
Can you just change from one to another or do you have to cross taper the med is paxil going to luvox ## Hello, Theresa! How are you? If you've been taking it for a long time, then a cross taper/titration is usually best and what most doctors will have you do to avoid any severe withdrawal and rebound effects. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## Took it two months before that I took lexPro two months nothing worked what do u think ## can we switch from clorocef to klavox?
I started taking amitriptyline HCL 10MG 5 years ago. I would now like to wean myself off of the pills. How to I decrease the dosage and how long will it take before I am free from any problems. Grace ## Hello, Grace! How are you? It would be best to get medical assistance with doing so. However, the modern preferred method is usually to have a patient start to skip doses, while also gradually lowering how much they take. As listed by the FDA, possible withdrawal effects may include nausea, fever, chills, diarrhea, rebound depression and rebound anxiety. It's hard to say how long it will take to be free of issues, you've been on it for years, so it could take a month, or so. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I am taking A brown amitriptyline at night for insomnia and it ...
A user was using for months, tried quitting cold turkey with violent, terrible, horrible withdrawal symptoms that finally tapered off, but left with depression. So user went back to using, tried quitting again but this time administered small doses to ward off the withdrawal symptoms, which worked wonderfully. User was very happy about this, though endorphin deficiency sydrome haunted still. A full dependancy on Almighty Creator Father, St. Johns Wort extract along with exercise remedied this and user is a balanced happy person and free of drugs now. ## Hello, Thank you for sharing this! I'm glad the "user" was able to successfully wean off the opiates and find a way to incorporate exercise and herbal supplements for health and happiness. :) I just thought I'd ask, was h...
Why not covered in Medicare and disability. It's the only antidepressant that really worked for me but after going on Medicare almost impossible to get. ## Yes. It works great but it is so high even with my fed bobs ins that I can't even take it. It sucks ## From an outsider, it's difficult to determine specifically "why" certain insurance companies don't provide coverage for certain medications. However I can only speculate that in some way shape or form they probably don't receive enough benefit or profit from doing so, otherwise it would be listed on the drug formulary. As unfortunate as this sounds, greed is the nature of many insurance companies. I've seen a number of documentaries surrounding medical insurance agencies and how they make their decisi...
I took 5 mg last night and can't function today. My legs feel like Jello and I had to leave work. The doctor says it will take time for my body to get used to it, but I have 2 kids and things to do. How do people take this and have a regular life? ## Hello, Shaewest! Sorry about the side effect you experienced. There are many people that take it and lead a normal life, but that doesn't necessary mean that it's the right medication for you. If it was so severe that you had to leave work, then you should likely have another discussion with your doctor about trying something different. Side effects should be mild and transient, they shouldn't be so severe that they cause this type of issue. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I actually just started on Lexapro a mont...
Due to some mild anxiety and low level depression I was put on Viibryd two months ago to supplement the Wellbutrin 150mg I had been taking for a few years. I titrated up as scheduled from 10-20-40mg. Over the past six weeks my levels of stress and anxiety have climbed thru the roof, sleep has been awful, and sense of self-worth and usefulness has plummeted to levels I never felt before. Worst of all is a sense of depersonalization and complete loss of identity--it is very unsettling. I'm now down to 20mg and it's helping but as of today my doc has had me quit Viibryd altogether...substitute Zoloft whcih has worked for me in the past). Folks, I know that each of us have different reactions to various meds, but please watch for theses signs once you start on viibryd. ## Thanks for...
