My neurologist tells me I have migraines. I generally do not have headaches, if I do they are mild. Nothing more than annoying, really. The thing I went to him for is numbness and tingling in my extremities, and in my face. It scares me, to the point of anxiety. It starts in my hands/feet, sometimes makes it all the way to my elbows/calves. He prescribed topiramate, commonly called Topamax, in increasing doses. The symptoms gradually faded, but today all of a sudden are worse. I've been taking the medicine, I'm still a week or so from my follow up, and it's pretty impossible to get in otherwise. I started 50 mg of Topamax a week ago for migraines. How soon should I start seeing results if it is going to help? So far, the only side effect I have had is some numbness in my feet/hands and carbonated beverages tasting a little different. I was also curious if anyone has had success with topamax helping generalized pain like back or joint pain? ## I was on it fot 4 months for migraine prevention. I had tingling feet off anf on with it. My concern now is that I have double vision from it. I have been taking Gabantin 300 3 times daily for the past two months. Single last two days, I have reduced the quantity to 2. I have started feeling dizziness. Is this a common symptom when the dosage is reduced. ## Yes, the active ingredient Gapentin is an anticonvulsant that can also help with certain types of nerve pain and as a mood stabilizer. As DILANTIN 100 mgs are no where to be found I am in a dilema...Can't switch to the generic phenytoin as I have side effects(loopy, spaced out, no energy, lack of concentration, etc.) Is there any RX that's similar to DILANTIN I might try? I'm taking 1800mgs 4 times a day and there's really no high but it keeps me off the booze. I'm tapering down 200mgs a day so in a bit it will all work out. ## Hello, Delance! How are you? No, there wouldn't be a high from this. Though many people misunderstand because it can help with some types of pain, it is not an actual analgesic. It is an anticonvulsant. Tapering down by that much a day could cause some withdrawal and rebound symptoms, such as dizziness, drowsiness, diarrhea, nausea, pain and headaches, so please be careful. why only eptoin 100mg tablet is adviced for fits ? My age 23 years, male, 6 events since 2003 frequency now after every 6 months. all reports are normal as EEG , CT SCAN OF BRAIN ETC. I am currently taking 10mg of Trepeline at night and 300mg of Epleptin 3 times a day due to severe pain in my back and spasms in through out my body. I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis about 7 years ago but it is now in remission. I was told this was gabapentin. Just it wanting to make sure that is what it is it is a white oblong pill with the number 1 then a score line then the number 3. ## Hello, Bonnie! How are you? No, the Gabapentin with the 13 on it actually has a G then a score line and the 13. I haven't been able to find anything with just a 13 on it, so far. hi, my Dr. gave me gabapentin 300 mg cap amn in place of Lyrica, what do you think ? Lyrica was putting so much weight on me and has all kinds of awful stuff in it but I was just wondering your thoughts? ## Hello, Ms. Charlie! How are you? What do you mean Lyrica has all kinds of awful stuff in it? Gabapentin is in the same exact drug class, so you may experience the same issues with it, including the weight gain, since that is a normal side effect of this class of drugs.

I have epilepsy and I think I may be having an interaction with some of my medications. I an currently taking 750 mg of trileptal split bid. hydroxyz 50 mg qd prn and melatonin 6 mg hs. I've been observed acting erratic and even aggressive at times. ## Hello, Barb! How are you doing? I am very sorry about the problems that you're experiencing. They might be due to the Trileptal. Hi I have been on topomax 100 mg. 50 am 50 pm consistently for about one week. The tingling has subsided a bit as well as the tiredness. I have noticed, it may or may not be related, some stomach issues. I'm noticing some diarrhea, what feels like hunger pangs. Sometimes after I eat something it seems to go right through me. Anyone experiencing anything similar? ## It may be causing some GI erosion, or gastritis, both of which can cause such symptoms. Have you consulted your doctor? You should have this checked out, before it gets worse.

I am an epileptic bavck in the 60-70's I was precribed a Ekko from my Doctor and Than I ordered it through National Epileptic League. Then they couuld not get it anymore. A few months I found this Ekko on my computer where you could get it for around 39.99 a bottle. I did not have a compier then. I was so happy that I found this. I have been on Dilantin 100mg 3/day for 30 years. My level has always been in the proper range until my recent test. My recent test shows I am at 6. Always has been within the 10-20 range. I have noticed lately that I sometimes feel like a seizure is coming on. But haven't had one. How much of an increase in dosage should I expect to have to take to get me back in range ? I am 59 and weigh 145lbs if that matters. I have no insurance and it is hard for me to afford regular visits to my Doctor. Thank you for your help. ## Hello, Thomas! How are you?
