My neurologist prescribed 100 mg Topamax, which cut the migraines back significantly to about 2 a month which can be treated with, in my case, Axert or Zomig. I began having really bad eye problems and other symptoms which prompted me to want to wean myself off. I was cut back to 50mg for a week and told to stop. On the 8th day off Topamax, I suffered a grand mal seizure and was taken my ambulance to the hopital. My neurologist will not suggest that it was the Topamax that caused the seizure. I have never had a seizure in my life and can't think of another cause for this. Has anyone else had this experience? I would really appreciate any insight, because I've been placed on another anti-seizure medication and told that by law I...
I have been taking Lamictal ffor only 4 days so far. On the 3rd day, in mid afternoon, I started having pinkish color urine. As the day went on, the color of my urine got darker and darker until late evening it was a darker red. By 11pm, my urine was a dark red but I went to bed. Went I got up the next morning the urine was a normal color until about noontime it started a light pink color. As the day went on, my urine would turn from a light pink to a darker red by the time I went to bed. This morning I did not take the Lamictal because I wondered if this medic ation was causing the blood in my urine. Today, I did not take my lamictal and I have not had any blood in my urine at all today. Is anyone experiencing this same side effect as I have? ## Hello, I do have blood in my urine somet...
I started topiramate (topamax) 6 weeks ago for migraines and went from 25 to 50mg after 2 weeks because I was doing fine on it but the last 4 weeks I’ve stayed at 50mg because I was feeling tired/foggy, but now suddenly over the last 9 days I’ve had cold-like symptoms, sore breasts, twitchy upper left back, awful backache (U/A checked out as clear), tummy ache/pains, pain under my ribs and nausea...I am feeling very anxious about it all. I went back to the gp today who suggested I come off of it and let everything settle down and then try again later if I want to (I don’t!). Is this normal? Anyone else get these side effects after a few weeks on the tablets? Thank you. ## Yes, those can be side effects, according to NIH reports, you may also experience headache, dry mo...
I have been taking neurontin for 6 months as a result of shingles I had in May. I am taking 600 MG per day. Is it safe to get a flu shot? ## Is it safe to get a flu shot while taking 2100 mg. of neurontin a day? ## There are no issues that I am aware of, but you should always double check with the person administering the flu shot to be sure. It is always best to make sure they know all medications that you are currently taking. The FDA warns that the flu shot may cause soreness, redness, and swelling at the site of administration. Thus, it is best to rub it for the day, or two, to help prevent unabsorbed vaccine from building up in a bolus under the skin. Has anyone else been on this medication and had their flu shot?
The bottom of both of my feet have a burning sensation especially when I go to bed and I can't sleep. My pain dr. prescribed Gabapentin 300mg (1 before going to bed for a week and then 2 thereafter). I've just started taking it last night and I couldn't get to sleep, tossing off and on all night. My primary dr. prescribed Zolpidem for sleeping which makes me sleep and I don't feel the burning sensation. My question is, can I take both meds before bedtime? ## Continue zolpiden no need to take gabapentin. I think Feeling burning sensation on your foot because of sleeplessness. So continue zolpiden ## Added info.: Dr. that prescribed Gabapentin stated my burning foot sensation is Restless Leg Syndrome. Do you still recommend taking Zolipen rather than Gabapentin? ## Hi Jim,...
My husband had heart surgery and while still under the influence of anesthesia, had a couple of seizures. No history prior and ct scan shows nothing to suggest that there is any damage and no sign of epilepsy. He is currently in rehab and being given 400mg of Dilantin and can't stay awake to do any therapy. He is not eating. Why would he be on such a large dose? ## It is normal to be prescribed a medication to try to prevent further seizures. The typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, mood changes, and weight changes. How is he doing? Has there been any change?
I have been taking this medicine for the last five days, but now I feel very disinterested in my work. I also feel drowsiness, anxiousness, etc. etc. Please suggest if I should continue taking the medicine? ## I am from j & k and suffering from the balance problem for the last four years. despite consulting neurologists, orthopedics, general physicians & despite of mri scanning of brain and cervical which turned normal, doctors prescribed me pain killers, gabapentin, methylcobalamin, betahistine, but of no use since last four years, now recently doctor prescribed me stalopram plus - one tab at bedtime - but it causes me drowsiness, uneasiness, disinterest in work, etc. etc. kindly advise me what shall I do now? ## Hi. I've been taking gabapentin nt151's and they work well. Then they switched it to d25's and they suck bad! Now they mixed them and I know I'm not crazy because I took the d25's first and felt nothing, then I took the nt151's and they worked like they were supposed to. How do I just get the nt151's? The pharmacy says there's no difference, just different makers. They almost think I'm making it up, but why make something up like that? I need to know what to do? Please help if you can. ## What do you feel, when you take them, or what are you expecting to feel? This is an anticonvulsant that also helps with certain types of nerve pain and some mood disorders. Thus, it takes about 4 to 6 weeks to reach its full level of efficacy in the body, and you shouldn...
I just recently started taking this for treating 6 to 8 migraines a month. I was using the max amount of meds every month for migraines and in constant pain and usually going in around every 3 to 4 months for a shot. If this sounds familiar you may want to try this drug. If was prescribed 25 mg. for a week which I have just made it though and now am on my second week of 50 mg. My biggest side effect is being tired. I am taking both pills at night instead of one in the morning and one at night. I am hoping to only have to take 50 mg, but we will see. So far so good, but I will up date on progress. ## I am addicted to Restyl since many years. I take 2 pills of 0.5mg every night. I also take Topamac 50 for migraine since last 4 months. Now since the last 7 days I decided to gradually reduc...

What Happens If I Take 200 Mg Of Gabapentin i need to know i already took it before i knew what milligrams it was i am worried what will happen what mental effects will it have on me???? ## Hi Alicia, Were you prescribed this medication or was it someone else's? I personally don't think you should have anything to worry about as far as side effects go if you only took this one dose. Gabapentin has a half life of 5 to 7 hours. So, for example, if you took 200 mg of gabapentin Monday at 4 PM, 100 mg would still be in your system at approx. 9 to 11 PM. Generally, it can take anywhere from 5-7 half-lifes before the drug is completely out of your system (but you should stop feeling its effects before then). Gabapentin was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, and is cur...
I have started taking gabapentin 100mg twice a day. When is the best time to take it. Do the side effects go away or do you just have to put up with them? ## Hi sarah, Dosing schedules for Gabapentin are largely dependent upon your reasons for taking it. (i.e. - the usual adult dose for Epilepsy is as follows): Initial dose: 300 mg orally on day one, 300 mg orally twice a day on day two, then 300 mg orally 3 times a day on day three. Maintenance dose: 900 to 1800 mg orally in 3 divided doses. If necessary, the dose may be increased using 300 mg or 400 mg capsules three times a day up to 1800 mg/day. Dosages up to 2400 mg/day have been well tolerated in long-term clinical studies. Doses of 3600 mg/day have also been administered to a small number of patients for a relatively short durati...
I am extremely underweight and skinny. I am a female aged 25 years and weigh 45kg. Pls help. I need a drug/medicine I can use to add weight fast as I am so sick of hearing that I am too thin. ## Gabapentin!!! It is an anticonvulsant. Ask your doctor and google it. People always gain weight when they take it. ## An anticonvulsant medication like Gabapentin should probably not be used for it's potential weight gaining purposes only, just because others have said that they gained some weight while taking it. For all we know, they could've also changed their diet and/or lifestyle while they were taking that medication; leading up to an extra few pounds. I'm not saying that it wont help you gain any weight, but the bottom line is, if you want more control over your weight (throug...
And is it safe to drive on it? I am very worried about taking this drug. ## Is Gabapentin addictable? Also, I cannot afford to gain any weight. Am on a lot of meds already. ## i want to know if gabapentin can be given for bipolar disorder also I have anxiety and ocd just it says that it can be given for mania and anxiety and depression which are the symptoms of bipolar. I also have a personality disorder. ## Yes, gabapentin can be addictive physically when taken regularly for a period of time depending on the person. Some people may have symptoms and others little or no symptoms when discontinued. I am on 600mg 3*daily and if I miss a dose I feel it. My body will remind me within a few hours of missing a dose. I have been on gabapentin for about a year and a half. Good luck, and driving...
My son aged 19 years was diagnosed with mild epilepsy because he got occasional fits. He first had it 2 years back, and has, in 2 years got fits about 8-10 times, of short duration around 3-5 minute or so. He studies engg. in first year. The neuro we first met, advised Livera twice daily but we were worried about the side effects and never started this medication. Our family doc advised anti depressant to improve his mood and positivity, but the fits are coming, though occassionally, every 2 months or so. Before he gets the fit, 2-3 days in advance, he gets tremors and jerks for short duration. Then one day fit would follow. Then for 2 months or so, everything normal and it cycles again. We met another neuro recently and he checked the previous reports and also checked my son physically...
Rose colored tablet with SLC 222 on one side & blank on the other, claimed to be Levetiracetam 500 mg generic for Keppra. The bottle at the pharmacy had a big black X written on the label and a picture of a yellow tablet (which is what I've been taking). Is this really Levetiracetam? Mfg: Solco Heal? ## Yes, Solco Healthcare list this tablet as containing 500mgs of Levetiracetam. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, mood swings, personality change and weight gain. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I have been taking Keppra (Levetiracetam) with an imprint of "slc 222" for a year now. Mood swings were hell in the beginning, but are fine now. I recommend not taking this when dealing with depression because it has made mine...

It has "s" then like a split line, so "s l g". The l is the line in between and the other side has "1 l 77". Again l is referring to the split line. It's a white oblong pill and I was told they're gabapentin but have never seen them look like this. ## Hi Mimi, Just to confirm, a white oblong pill with "S | G" on one side and "1 | 77" on the other, is reportedly identified as Gabapentin (600 mg); a medication most commonly used for treating neuropathic pain. For verification, the manufacturer is listed as ScieGen Pharmaceuticals and the pill itself carries a National Drug Code of 50228-0177. I hope this helps!
