Feeling Awful On Topamax (topiramate)

I started topiramate (topamax) 6 weeks ago for migraines and went from 25 to 50mg after 2 weeks because I was doing fine on it but the last 4 weeks I’ve stayed at 50mg because I was feeling tired/foggy, but now suddenly over the last 9 days I’ve had cold-like symptoms, sore breasts, twitchy upper left back, awful backache (U/A checked out as clear), tummy ache/pains, pain under my ribs and nausea...I am feeling very anxious about it all. I went back to the gp today who suggested I come off of it and let everything settle down and then try again later if I want to (I don’t!). Is this normal? Anyone else get these side effects after a few weeks on the tablets? Thank you.

Yes, those can be side effects, according to NIH reports, you may also experience headache, dry mouth, and diarrhea.

How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

While this medication does work wonders for some people, it isn't right for everyone, sadly enough.

What other medications have you tried?
