Now I'm showing syptoms of an UTI because I never drink any water. Would it be safe to take now? ## Hello Mike! How are you feeling? The first step to take would be to start drinking some water regularly. It is actually a misconception that you need to drink 8 8ounce glasses a day. That is the total amount of fluid your body needs for the day, but you do get a lot of it from your food and other beverages, so even adding just a glass or two of water can help. It is especially important for flushing out your kidneys, if you continue to avoid water, you may find yourself in kidney failure eventually. As to the Amoxicillin, medications lose effectiveness over time, so it will most likely not b...
There is a sign that a person must wear gloves and masks before entering a patient's room. There is a name for it but I cannot remember it. I think it was an immumity to a certain antibiotic. ## Were you possibly thinking of MRSA? It's usually pronounced like mersa and means the person has infections and complications that are resistant to Methicillin and related antibiotics, which makes it very difficult to treat and makes them easily susceptible to other illnesses. ## Yes, I found out it is Mersa. I am in contact with many in a nursing center and was wondering if it is really contageous and what I should do to keep from geting it other than eschew the whole scene? Should there be definite warnings at the facility? Several years ago, notes advising gloves, gowns, etc were advis...
Anyone besides me having issues after having taken Cipro? Was discontinued by my doctor after 3 days. I have burning sensation in my hands and legs. Soon afterward, going up the stairs, I felt the innermost part of my knee begin to hurt. Ignored it until it became harder to do. Returned to the doctor who ordered an xray. No bone involvement. Appt with orthopedist tomorrow. Tried to wear a support bandage but makes it worse. ## Hi Bonita, Sorry to hear about your experience with being on Ciprofloxacin. From what I could find, "pain in the joints" is in fact listed as a rare but potentially serious side effect on the site for the US National Library of Medicine; in which case they recommend contacting your doctor immediately... I had symptoms of the flu and strep throat, but tested negative for both. I was prescribed 2 875MG tablets a day. These pictures are from before the first pill I took, and before the last. Before: img922/420/Pv7eD1.jpg After: img923/2637/ZJNbiO.jpg ## The general rule that the NIH lists for antibiotic is that, if is working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking it for a full 24 hours, and you should start to see improvement after taking it for a full 3 days. The typical side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. However, even if you've had some improvement, if things start seeming to get worse, again, you should consult a medical professional, because you may need a longer course of treatmen...

I have a UTI and I was given Uvamin by a pharmacists in Costa Rica. I am reading online about this drug and the side effects seem tremendous. Can anyone give me an idea of how harmful this drug is AND how helpful and what the percentages are of people that actually experience side effects and how severly they experience them? ## Uvamin contains the active ingredient Ntorfurantoin, an antibiotic, commonly used to treat infections. It has no more or less dangerous side effects than most other antibiotics, such as: nausea, drowsiness skin rash and diarrhea. Read more: I do not have any percentages, but there are some people it helps and there are some that it doesn't. It is commonly given in the U.S. to treat UTIs, as well. If you are uncertain, have you considered talking to the docto...
I had a boil which bursted 2 days back right below my thigh portion. It has formed a bump (swelled) and is painful. Since it is right below my thigh it's hard to sit. After taking the first dose of Bactrim ds 800 I have burning sensations around the boil area. Feels my skin is being stretch when I get up.. Burns a lot. Is it the right capsule that I am taking? How long will it take to heal? ## Did your doctor prescribe it for you? It is possible that it is not the correct antibiotic to treat the relevant bacteria that caused the boil. It could take a week or two to fully heal. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. ## Thanks for the reply.i had to get operated on the same and w...
500 my amoxicilin. Can I take this for my spider bite that's now infected and for infection in my gums. I'm also allergic to sulfa I will not go to Dr or hospital I'm allergic to penicillin I WA 12 when i.broke out in hives and was dizzy. But that's it. Can I take amoxicilin Amoxicilin 500 mg. Desperate ## Hi Andrea, According to The University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC), people who are allergic to penicillin may also have a cross-reaction to amoxicillin because they are both in the same family of antibiotics (known as 'beta-lactam' antibiotics). So in general, I would say it's not recommended. Perhaps it'd be best to ask your doctor about trying some other type of antibiotic altogether, such as: Tetracyclines Macrolides Fluor...
On September 6, 2016 I was prescribed Bactrim DS 800-160 for an ingrown hair turning turning into an abscess. Today about an hour ago I've developed hives and a rash on my throat. Am I having a possible allergic reaction? I took benadryl about 20 minutes ago and it is still the same if not worst. ## I am anaphylactic to the antibiotic but didn't know till the second dose in a year that both times caused aseptic meningitis. The second time also caused my throat to swell. I took 75mg of Benadryl and 20 mg Pepcid (also a antihistamine). Bactrim is so bad in Europe they have banned it but in America that's one of the #1 antibiotics they prescribe. Stop the prescription and call your dr. They should have someone on call for the weekend or go to the urgent care. Never take that ag...
I found a black and orange capsule in my kitchen. There's a KF within a hexagon printed on each side in white. The k extends beyond the top of the hexagon & the f below it. No one in my house seems to know where it came from! I call shenanigans! ## This is Doxycycline 100MG (Intended for use with aquarium/ornamental fish only - Not for human consumption, as the label says).
Can i take this antibiotic for a common cold, stuffy head, chest and throat ? Will it help? ## Hello, Mindy! How are you doing? I'm sorry that you're sick. But no, an antibiotic will not do anything to treat a cold, or alleviate cold symptoms. The common cold is actually cause by a virus, not a bacterial infection, as explained by the NIH. They also advise against taking an antibiotic, unless your doctor confirms the presence of an infection, because taking one, when it isn't needed, or won't help can cause you to develop antibiotic resistant bacteria. That could create a problem, if you develop infections in the future. Colds can really only be treated symptomatically, by taking decongestants, as long as your doctor approves. Is there anything else I can help with?

According to CDEM information, it's usually caused by a slight infection that typically arises from stones that caused an obstruction, the medical term for inflammation of the bile ducts is Cholangitis. my friend had about 14 stools in 2 days. i suggest him nox but it didnt work so he went to consult an physician who prescibed him zenflox along with lopermide..i wasnt sure about the use of zenflox for loose motion...as its side effect is it self diarrhea... ## Zenflox-OZ contains the active ingredients Ofloxacin and Ornidazole, this is an antibiotic that is used to treat a variety of infections. Thus, if the doctor suspected that some type of infection was causing his problem, then yes, they would prescribe a medication like this. It can cause some diarrhea, while taking it, which the Loperamide should help with, but will help fight any bacteria that may be causing the problem. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Dr suggested zenflox oz and paracetamol for fever and high wbc ...

I was prescribed aurobindo pha by my dentist to help my wisdom tooth infection. I won't be getting my wisdom tooth extracted until december, so she gave me this antibiotic to help with the infection. ## Hello, Breaun! How are you? I'm sorry, but Aurobindo is the name of a manufacturer that makes prescription medications, it is not the name of a medication itself. They make many medications. Can you please double check your prescription and post back? If you're not sure which is the name of the antibiotic, just include all the details on the label, leaving off your personal information, of course. The NIH general antibiotic page lists the most common side effects as typically including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
My Bulldog got bitten by another dog on his ear. I'm broke but I have amoxicillin 500mg. And amox TR-K CLV. HIS EAR IS INFECTED WHICH WOULD BE BEST ## Hi Gina, I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your bulldog. A bite on the ear sounds pretty gnarly! In my honest opinion it would probably be best to contact a vet and get their approval before giving any sort of medication to your dog. However I don't think it is uncommon to hear about dogs being prescribed amoxicillin. According to standard pet medication dosage charts, the usual dose of amoxicillin in dogs is reportedly 5 to 10mg per pound, taken every 12 to 24 hours. Your local vet should be able to verify this and other pertinent information (including how many days it should be taken for and which type of amoxicil...
