doctor has prescribe monocef 200 mg for fever but the medical shop gave me mahacef 200 mg and says that both are same. Can I take this ## Mahacef is listed as containing the active ingredient Cefixime, and Monocef is listed as containing Ceftriaxone, so while they are not exactly the same, they are both antibiotics that are used to treat bacterial infections. I know that most capsules are from animal-based gelatin, but I want to know if the gelatin in this one is plant or animal-based. On my priscription bottle it list the amount of pills in the bottle as 30. Under that it says DS 15. Does that mean days supply or something else? ## Hi Bill, This may or may not be the case with your Rx, but I often see the abbreviation "DS" being referred to as "Double Strength" for some antibiotics such as Bactrim DS / Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim DS / SMZ-TMP DS. I am cutting the Bactrim in half. I took full dosage two days but I cannot chance a fall so I cut in half. If I have dizziness, I will not finish. I can get natural product for UTIs. I do not take anything but an occasional ibuprophen so my system is clean. my 11 year old son has strep and the MD gave keflex 500mg twice a day he doesnt take antibiotics that often wouldnt 250mg be suficiant ## Is his case of strep severe? I wouldn't want to stray from the doctor's orders. How long is he supposed to be taking the meds for? Is he having any side effects? I have recently been dealing with a uti issue. I was prescribed doxycycline for a week and got better. By the end of the week I'm not going to go into details but I'm pretty sure I reinforced myself and started to get the feeling of the UTI symptoms again. So I found a supposed to be trusted pharmacy delivery service from Canada. They didn't have any research on them being a bad or unreliable source from the FDA or anything so figured it was ok. I have been constipated for 3 weeks and I also suffer from severe headaches as well as my head sweats with pressure. Hi everyone. Near the end of September, I started a 14 day course of Doxycyclin (the specific brand name was Cyclidox). 100mg twice a day, with lots of water, an hour before meals, as instructed. During the course I experienced severe bloating, trapped gas, abdominal cramps, abdominal pain, and belching (burping). The probiotics I was taking didn't seem to make any difference. I knew that any of the Tetracycline antibiotics, and especially Doxycycline, could have gastro side effects, and I stuck with the pills, after contacting my GP who prescribed them. I finished the course, and after three weeks, my digestive system still hadn't normalized. My GP then put me on a 10 day course of Nexium (a proton pump inhibitor) in case I had an ulcer. Hi, I want to know how long do the side effects of anaerobyl last for? I have an allergic rash on my body and it itches so bad. Please help me. ## It may take a couple of weeks for such symptoms to fully go away, once you finish your course of treatment. I experienced one to a different antibiotic a couple of years ago and that's how long it took for it to clear up for me. Have you tried anything to alleviate the itching?
