I have been prescribed amoxicillin 1g 3x a day for 7 days. I am on day 3 and now have a yeast infection. My pharmacist said to take fluconazole (1 pill). Will this be ok to take while still on amoxicillin? ## Yes, they are often prescribed together, when someone is prone to getting yeast infections from antibiotics. Amoxicillin almost always causes one for me, so my doctor usually just prescribes them together from the get go. Your doctor is always the best judge, I can only tell you that they are commonly taken together. The NIH warns that you may experience side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, flatulence, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

My 12 year old 106lb daughter was prescribed this today by her dr. for an infection on her arm. I was reading the side effects and was getting nerves and it also didnt list the dose on the bottle just said take it 3 times a day for 10 days. I called the pharmacy and the doctors and they both said that the dose is 800 and the pharmacist said that when they ran it through their computer it didnt raise any red flags with the dose. But all the info ive been reading it says its usually taking 2 times a day every 12 hours. Im kind of nerves about weither this is to much for her to be taking. So far shes taken 2 of them today and so far shes only complained about a stomachache and a headache. But both the doctors office and the pharmacist said it was fine. Ive been reading the post about all t...

My mom is allergic to penicillin but at the dentist they prescribed her amoxcillin although she let them know that she was allergic to it. Should she still take it? ## Hi Amber, Just so you're aware, the Mayoclinic states not to take Amoxicillin if you have an allergy to Penicillin. They also controversially note that even if you are allergic to Penicillin, "you may be (but are not necessarily) allergic to other types of Penicillin or cephalosporins." Source: "Penicillins and related drugs", Mayoclinic.org. Web. 22 November 2014 My personal opinion is that going with a hit or miss approach to what might be safe, probably is not worth the risk since the two drugs are so closely related. [Amoxicillin is reportedly a semi-synthetic version of Penicillin]. I'd encour...

Can you take Diclofenac Sod when taking Cipro ## Actually, these two medications aren't generally prescribed together, due to the fact that combining them increases the risk of stimulation of the central nervous system and seizures. On the Ciprofloxacin Details page under Interactions it says "They may also interact with the GABA A receptor and cause neurological symptoms; this effect is augmented by certain nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs." Have they both been prescribed for you? ## yes ive been prescribed the two drugs ## I've been on dicloflanac and the dr prescribed me cipro

can apo-sulfatrim ds 800/160 be used to treat a sore and infected throat ? ## The answer to your question is yes. Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim is a sulfonamide antibacterial combination that is used in the treatment of a variety of bacterial infections, including a variety of upper and lower respiratory tract infections. Whether or not this is the most ideal choice to fight the infection is beyond my research. You'd have to contact your doctor to see what option is best for you. You can view a detailed description of the drug, by clicking on the link below... If you have any more questions or comments to add, please post back so I can further assist you. ## Could I take this medication for a tooth infection like I would amoxicillin?

I am very active and exposed to sunlight everyday. Do I need to keep inside and avoid the sun during the 7 days that keflex has been prescribed to me? ## Avoidance is probably not necessary, but you will want to use a sun block and make sure to keep hydrated and avoid overheating. ## I agree with Verwon, it is okay to be in the sun while taking Keflex (active ingredient Cephalexin). There are other antibiotics which will make you more sensitive to sunlight but this is not one of them. I checked with both Medline Plus and the NIH, and nowhere did it mention such an issue.

My wife was prescribed Cephalexin for a stye and I was wondering since it is an antibiotic, whether it is okay for her to be out in the sun? I could not find anything on the included drug label insert specifically mentioning sun exposure risks, but I thought I would check seeing as how other antibiotics are known to increase sensitivity to sunlight. Any feedback appreciated. The weather's been real nice and we've been wanting to spend time outdoors and at swimming pools. ## Cephalexin should not cause an increased sensitivity to sunlight (there is no mention of a concern or interaction from the NIH or Medline Plus). There are other antibiotics which are known to increase photosensitivity, and those are: doxycycline, tetracycline, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, ofloxacin, trimethop...

Does Ciploxx contain penicillin? ## WHAT IS THE SIDE EFFECTS OF CIPLOXX ## Ciplox contains the active ingredient Ciprofloxacin, it is an antibiotic used to treat various types of infections. Side effects may include: nausea, skin rash, diarrhea and dizziness. More details: Are there any other questions I can help with? ## Am I correct if I assume that the answer to my question is : "No Ciproxx does not contain penecillin" ? ## Samuel, as I stated in my post, the active ingredient in it is Ciprofloxacin, a floroquinolone antibacterial, not Penicillin. If you have an allergy or a bad reaction to Penicillin, please make sure that your doctor and your pharmacy is aware of this, so it is listed in your medical records. It is especially important to do so with any pharmacy you use, be...

Hi. I've been meaning to post for a couple of weeks. In early January I was diagnosed with a staph infection and prescribed Bactrim. I knew nothing about it so I took my full dose. A few days after I finished all the pills, I had every negative side effect imaginable. Very light headed, very nauseous, dizzy, headaches, muscle weakness, upset stomach, etc. I also got a UTI which I believe was caused by the Bactrim. I was fine each day until around noon, and then I only felt like laying down for the rest of the day, and I'm a busy mother. I am here to say that it DOES go away. Mine lasted for about 4 to 5 weeks! I was a nervous wreck thinking it would never go away. But it went away (the upset stomach and diarrhea honestly took 3 months). But I am great now. I did start probiotics...

I am getting ready to take a cruise in 5 days and I was wandering if I could start taking kelfex 500mg. My doctor put me on this because I told him I would be in the sun a lot and I needed something that was not sun sensitive. I have never taken marcobid before. It got to be the medicine making feel that way. I was going to start taking it today because I can't take this another day and can't talk to him until Monday. I took bactrim for a bladder infection on on the third day of the antibiotics I had unprotected sex with my husband. I have had the implanon since November 2010. What are the chances of the implanon becoming less effective while taking bactrim and is it possible that i could be pregnant? I don't get periods so i have no idea when my missed period would be. ## In a comparison of birth control methods in terms of effectiveness in preventing pregnancy, Implanon is actually one of the most effective forms of birth control currently available. The failure rate for Implanon is about 0.0449%, as observed in the UK, where only 584 women have reported unwanted pregnancies out of 1.3 million who have used Implanon since 1999. So yes, it is possible to get pregnant, but very unlikely. Keep in ...

I've been using Eryko 250 for 3 days and currently experiencing nausea, heartburn and pain in my colon. I feel week and giddy. I have a taste similar to iodine on my tongue and the my breathe smells like iodine. Could it be because of this medication? ## First things first, I believe that if you were not experiencing any of these symptoms prior to taking this medication (and you aren't taking any other forms of medication), then the answer is most likely yes, this is a side effect of Eryko. Eryko contains the active ingredient Erythromycin, which has some pretty serious side effects that may be associated with its use. Although I couldn't find anything suggesting that it creates a weird taste in the mouth, I highly recommend taking a look at the two links below for side effe...

I went to the hospital for a cis on my buttocks under my skin they sliced a tiny hole on it to drain the puss out. It was suppose to go away with the antibiotics that the hospital gave me but a year later it still leeks like it's still there the hospital charged me around 600 a visit I went three times for this problem never going away. MY BIG QUESTION IS will these pills help it go away being and antibiotic if I continue to use it ## Have you tried consulting your primary care doctor and specialists, rather than repeatedly going to the ER? what STD can be treated with A43 500mg ## A43 500mg (Cephalexin) is not used to treat any STD's. It is usually used to treat bacterial infections (pneumonia, bone, ear, skin, urinary tract infections). The wrong antibiotics could possibly make it worse and lead to a stronger infection. I don't know which STD you are referring to, but I did find information stating that: Cefixime, ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, ceftriaxone, azithromycin, spectinomycin are the preferred and alternative drugs used for gonorrhea. Not sure about the other STD's. If anything, I think your best option would be going to your primary care physician and have him or her decide what will be most effective for the type of STD you are referring to.
