I am 30 weeks pregnant and I was just wondering if I can take this antibiotic because it says on the label, do not take while pregnant. My husband has strep throat. He was prescribed amoxicillin & is on day 5 of taking them. His fever broke but his throats still looks terrible and is sore. He called his doctor today and they told him to stop taking the amoxicillin if it hasn't worked yet and prescribed him a z pack. I'm a nurse and have always been under the impression that a patient needs to finish the complete course of an antibiotic so they don't build a resistency to it. Should he finish the amoxicillin first instead of just stopping abruptly to start the z pack? ## No, one can switch from one to the other, if their doctor instructs them to do so, there is nothing to worry about. I forgot what my doctor said about how to take my antibiotic UTI meds. I think I'm supposed to take 2 a day (every 12 hrs), along with Pheno..(azo). I took one on day #1 at 2:15pm and another one at 6:15pm. My new job as housekeeper at local hotel consist of me coming into contact with cleaning chemicals that causes my eczema prone sensitive skin to flare up worse than it ever has before. From what I could gather, it can be used for dogs; as some dogs are prescribed it from vets. I don't know however, what the recommended dosage would be for a dog.
