I had my gallbladder removed last year and I am still getting pains. The doctor said I have an ulcer that's swollen inside, so he gave me metazol and doxycycline. I have an infection causing boils on my skin and was prescribed amoxicillin. My doctor told me that Cipro or Bactim are very good for treating UTIs caused by E-Coli, but that Nitrofurantoin Mono_MCR is better than the other two for treating UTIs caused by staph infection. In between 4-5hrs gas forming in stomach and doing loose motion no pain. It started one month before while I taken antibiotic ( kalvox 1g & serodase 5mg) for tooth infection which was doctor prescribed. Medicine has stopped after 5days course still stomach problem is continuing . Please suggest a solution ## Did you mean Keflex? Some brands of this medication are coated for extended release so that your body has time to properly absorb the active ingredients before your stomach acid from destroys them. I am 76 years old. I was prescribed Nitrofurantoin 50 MG twice a day for a UTI. On the 11th day I developed a red rash all over my legs, huge hives everywhere which itched incessantly, swelling of face and lips and extreme fatigue. I'm on probation and went in to take my random U/A yesterday. I thought I had nothing to worry about cause I don't do drugs. The dipstick test came back positive for benzos and they said they are sending it to the lab. I am currently taking cephlaxin (keflex) bactrim ds and tramadol. Hello! I was prescribed Nitrofurantoin for a UTI and I’m on my third day of taking it. My UTI symptoms seem to be gone however I’ve developed some pretty instense vaginal itching. Is the itching related to the antibiotic or did I get super lucky and develop a yeast infection or something? No discharge or rash just itching. If the itching IS a side effect of the antibiotic should I call my doctor to discontinue it or is it not a huge deal as long as I can handle it? I have a UTI and my doctor prescribed both mylan 3422 and E122, but I'm not sure how it's supposed to work because I have one of the E122 and nine of the mylan 3422 pills. ## They both contain the same active ingredient, which is 100mgs of Nitrofurantoin.
