Every time I take this for bladder infections I get water blisters on my penis. My Dr.said it shouldn't do that but the only time this happens is when I take this drug. I do have minor bladder leakage. Could this be why the blistering happens or what else can it be? ## It is very difficult to say what may be causing it. Have you actually gone to your doctor, while they are present, so they can discover the cause? Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim is an antibiotic and they can cause skin reactions, in some people. my doctor has told me to take two of the sulfamethoxazole-tmp twice a day, and I'm really feeling sick since I've taken the second one, is this not an awful high dosage to be taken. ## The dose of Sulfamethoxazole + Trimethoprim largely depends on the type of infection you have and how severe it is. However, these pills you have marked "IP 272" are regarded as "double-strength tablets". For most infections, I found that the dosing schedule was one double strength tablet (800mg/160mg) every 12 hours for roughly 7-10 days; so if you feel like you're taking too much, I would suggest contacting your doctor about this concern. Some of these antibiotics have very harsh side effects and I don't blame anyone for wanting get off of them as soon as possible. ## I a...

I had a severe bacterial prostate infection and was put on Cipro for 2 months with no results. Urologist switched me to Sulfameth and it helped greatly, except some symptoms still persist. He said blood flow to prostate is very minimal, so some men must remain on Sulfameth for long periods, and some indefinitely. After six months on Sulfameth, slight symptoms are still there. My three questions: 1. Will this long period on the antibiotic Sulfameth cause my body to build up a resistance to the Sulfameth, or any other antibiotics for that matter? I have experienced no side effects so far. 2. Is it true that some men with Prostititus must remain on Sulfameth for life, to keep it under control? 3. With the Bacterial Prostititus still present, could any disease be transmitted to my wife when...

How long is watson 357 good for? ## There's actually a lot of conflicting information around the topic of expired medication, but according to a Harvard Medical School family health article, except in rare cases (i.e. tetracycline), there is little chance of danger due to taking medications even up to 15 years beyond their expiration date. This conclusion was based upon a study conducted at the request of the US military due to stockpiles of expensive drugs they could otherwise need to replace every few years. The conclusion was that 90% of those drugs remained effective 10 - 15 years after the expiration date. But the question is whether or not the drug you have happens to be one of these drugs from the study... (I have not seen the list of drugs used in this study). Source: health...

Is prolonged menstruation a side effect of Doxytet antibiotics? I have been prescribed this tablet nearly a month ago and have to continue taking it until next hospital appointment. But my menstruation seems never ending. Please advise as this is very strange to me. ## Are you by any chance on some type of oral contraceptive....a birth control pill?
