Red/gray pill. Oblong like capsule but not an actual capsule. It's broke in half with just the red side and very little of the gray side. The red side has imprint in black either the letter "O" or the number "0". Any ideas? ## Hi Scias, Unfortunately, since the entire pill isn't showing.. neither is the imprint which is vital to verifying the pill's identity. I found a number of red/grey capsules with an imprint including the letter O. One of the capsules I located is, Principen which contains (500 mg) of ampicillin. It is a red/grey capsule with the imprint BRISTOL 7993 (in black letters) on each side. Manufacturer: Bristol-Myers Squibb Ampicillin is closely related to amoxicillin, another type of penicillin, and both are used to treat urinary tract infectio...

I have some capsules that are Grey and Red and have the imprint Bristol 500. What are they? ## It is Bristol-Myers Squibb Pentrexyl ampicilina. 500mg. Basicaly penicillin from Mexico. ## Can this product be bought without a prescription? ## @Rosie, Based on my research, the law requires a prescription for antibiotics, so in order to obtain Penicillin legally you would need a prescription. Therefore, the answer to your question is no- you would not be able to purchase Penicillin without a prescription (unless you were to purchase it illegally), which of course, I do not recommend doing. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Penicillin Details Do you have any more questions? Please post back if you do! ## My husband was going outside while it was raining he got soke and wet,t...

I am taking doxycycline, tacrolimus, omeprazole, and a nasal spray presently. Could one or the combination cause a positive urine for cocaine? ## FAISAL- When you test positive for coke there's really no other drug out there (either prescribed or over the counter) that would give you a false positive for coke.., Honestly the only way to test positive for coke is if it's in your system. Yeah there are drugs that are over the counter and etc that will make you have a false positive for stuff like Benzos, methamphetamines, barbiturates, opiates and narcotics, but as far as cocaine if you test positive for cocaine it's because it is cocaine. There is nothing out there that will give you a false positive for cocaine when they test for cocaine. It's a specific test that tests ...

We have a bunch of white oblong shaped pills with nothing imprinted on either side of it. We think it is ibuprofen but are just trying to check and make sure. ## Someone gave me a round white pill with no imprint on either side and said it's antibiotics. Is it? ## Good luck and gooodnightttt. I was concerned too until I checked my melatonin bottle. Be smart and keep asking questioms. ## Hello, I hope this message finds you in good health and wonderful weather. In accordance with FDA regulations all controlled medication is required to be identifiable through it's physical features (shape, color, imprint, size etc.) and because the pill you found does not have an imprint it is unlikely to be an ibuprofen. What is more likely is that you have found a vitamin, supplement, dietary p...

I was treated with h-pyroli 5 months then yesterday got chest pains & the doctor prescribed ciplofloxacin & fenpar tablets but after taking them I am experiencing ulcers pain. can they be the cause? please advice ## Hello, Kena! How are you? It is most likely due to the Fenpar, since it contains Paracetamol and Ibuprofen, so stomach irritation can be a side effect, as reported by the U.S. FDA, along with nausea, dizziness and headache. Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and drowsiness. Do you take anything for your stomach? ## Yes I take Ranitidine for an ulcer.. Prescribed Ciprofloxacn yesterday and I am having stomach pain where uler is located.. Is Cipro an antibiotic given for an Upper Resp. Infection? I ## Hi Cheri, The answer to your question is "yes", Ciprofloxacin can be used to treat a number of infections including: Upper and Lower respiratory tract infections (although it is not recommended as a first-line antibiotic choice for either of them). I would actually consider discussing with your doctor and/or pharmacy whether or not they think you should be using some other antibiotic (depending on how severe the infection is). The reason being, is that if you don't use the most effective antibiotic for your infection, then the bacteria can build a resistance to what you may be using; possibly rendering the treatment useless in the end. So yeah, I think it really depends on how severe your infection really is. If...

I am finishing a 7 day dose of clindamycin 300 mg taken once every 8 hours on Friday, which leaves me with no weekend coverage if dental infection isn't gone. My dentist told me yesterday that it can remain in my system for awhile, is this true? If so, for how long? ## Hello, Jana! How are you? Yes, that is correct. However, how is the infection doing? If the antibiotic is working, there should be no worsening after being on it for a full 24 hours and you should start to see some improvement after taking it for a full 3 days. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. ## I had a severe headache with flushed feeling after taking clindesse vaginally.never again bad drug ## Took clind...

Can I take a 500 mg Cipro tablet after I took my Vitamin D supplement? The antibiotic is for a small boil. ## Dear Deb, Vitamin D is naturally present in our bodies from sunlight. I don't mean for this to come off as sarcastic in any way, but to my understanding Ciprofloxacin does not interfere with what's otherwise naturally occurring in our bodies (with the exception of reducing beneficial gut flora - and that could be replenished with prebiotics/probiotics). However I believe most vitamins and minerals in their raw form should be fine to take alongside it. I am also speaking from personal experience. NOTE: According to a Walgreen's disclaimer, "sulfa antibiotics in particular can reportedly cause photosensitivity", in which case, taking a Vitamin D supplement inst...

I have been taking Nitrofurantoin 100mg, one per day for 2 months. Since taking it have had bad headaches, lightheadedness, nausea and my blood pressure keeps going low. Can the Nitrofurantoin cause bp to go low and also once the Nitrofuantoin has been stopped, how long before the side effects disappear ? ## I take notification mono/mac 100mg and my blood pressure is elevated ## There is no effect on blood pressure listed among the side effects reported by the FDA, though there is no way to be sure how nay given medication will affect any certain person that takes it. However, I'd be more inclined to think that your respective illnesses are causing these issues, which means they should improve, after they are resolved. But it would be best to have them checked out, to be sure. Other...

It’s supposed to be penicillin. I don’t wanna kill myself. I bought it in Mexico. ## Hello Jay, Unfortunately any medicine that you purchased from mexico that doesn't have an imprint is not going to be identifiable. In the U.S we use the imprints on the medicines to be able to physically identify the pill which allows us to trace them back to their manufacturer which in turn allows us to pull up the information on the specific medication. As a personal rule of thumb I never take any medicine that I'm not able to identify and trace back to the manufacturer. Your pill may contain penicillin, it may simply be a placebo sugar pill or it could theoretically contain morphine. While that's a gross exaggeration it's really not off base, the fact is you simply don...

How can I tell and should I take two a day or 4? ## Hello Hannah, After doing some research I found a gov webpage that states the dosages should be only taken as prescribed by the doctor and that the dosages may vary from case to case so there is no suggested dosage. With this in mind I don't think it's a very wise decision to be making guesses or just trusting your safety to strangers on the internet. In this case I would suggest two things in the following order. First if you have the option to do so, I would recommend getting a hold of the doctor who prescribed the medication to you or ...

My dog has an ear infection and I have some bactrim ds that I couldn't take. I was wondering if he could take this medicine and what dosage would I give him? He weighs 23-25 lbs. ## Hi Kat, When it comes to potent antibiotics such as Bactrim, I feel it is vital to contact an experienced veterinarian who can assess the dog's condition in person first and then make an appropriate medical decision based off their evaluation. Just to add, Bactrim is in fact prescribed to dogs and cats alike for various types of infections. My only concern is that Bactrim tends to cause a lot of side effects in humans, so I can only hope that your dog has a positive response to it. If you have a moment, please post back on how things are going with treatment. ## How much bactrim should I give my 60lb...

Hi all, Firstly a disclaimer, if you have just eaten and have a soft stomach, avoid this post. You've been warned. My dentist prescribed a two week regime of Augmentin for minor work that needs to be performed on a tooth. I finished the prescription one week ago. And I still have some odd side effects. Before I started taking this, I had a normal energy level where I could exercise and do my work, etc. Now I have wayyyyyy too much energy and even though I start to feel drowsy at my regular time when I got to bed, I can't fall asleep until 2 -3 hours later. The other effect I've been experiencing are dry lips. This is annoying. There is no change in saliva and my mouth is just as moist as before taking Augmentin. Also during the last three weeks it's been as my appetite h...
