My son had an ear infection a month ago and was prescribed a 10 day course of Bactrim. He now has another ear infection and has been prescribed it again. Is it ok to use the bactrim left from a month ago or should I get the new script filled? Other antibiotics he's had have specifically said to throw away 14 days after mixing. ## Hi Miriam, by rights, your suppose 2 complete the whole course of antibiotics right away. Just because u or your so starts. 2 feel better b 4 your done the 10 day supply, u need 2 complete the 10 days. Maybe, that is why the infection came back. So, I would call the Dr and get a new prescription . Hope your son feels better. ## He did finish the 10 days but there was more than that in the bottle. ## Hello, Miriam! I found a vial with several round white pills, but the label is illegible. On one side are the numbers 21 58 and on the other side is 9 8. Can you tell me what they are? Also what is a white pill with 5093 V on it? ## Hello, Pete! How are you? The tablet with the 93 2158 on it contains 100mgs of Trimethoprim, which is an antibiotic. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. And the tablet with the 5093 V marking contains 10mgs of Prednisone, which is a steroid class medication that's used to treat allergic reactions, swelling and immunity disorders. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, fluid retention and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?

It says use before 02 2014 is it still useable is.it still safe to take ## Hello, Minnie! How are you? This is a generic for Bactrim, which is an antibiotic, so it would best to dispose of it, once it's expired. They tend to lose efficacy after that, which creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. Is there anything else I can help with?

Will h49 help with an ear ache, is it an antibiotic ## Hello, Mark! How are you? This is a generic for the antibiotic Bactrim, which can treat various types of bacterial infections. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, it will only help if an infection is present. Has this been medically confirmed?

I went to my pulmonary doctor today. I wasn't sure if I had allergies or an upper respiratory infection (not severe). I have asthma, and did not do as well with my breathing tests as I usually do. The Doctor heard a slight wheezing in my chest. He gave me 5 days of Bactrim DS. Is this a normal dose or should he have ordered pills for more days. ## Hello, Linda! How are you? No, it can be used like that, if he thinks an infection might just be starting, or he's trying to prevent one. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have a very small tattoo that is infected ...I was wondering if ampicillin can help it ## Hi Black pearl, u can't just use any type of antibiotic 4 any infection. It takes certain antibiotics 2 take care of different infections. Besides, u need 2 start a new round of antibiotics 4 a certain amount of days. Only a doctor would know what kind u need and. 4 how long. I used neosporin when I got my tatoo . It's an OTC first aid antibiotic cream. U can get it at any pharmacy or Walmart. Hope it gets better. Let me know how u make out. ## I really think Cats68 is on the right track here, usually a topical ointment is best, because a tattoo doesn't go deep in the body and usually doesn't require a systemic antibiotic. Are you sure it's infected and not just irritated and ...

I have uti and no money but i have this medication can i use it ## Hello, Bryant! How are you? This is a generic for the antibiotic Augmentin, so it can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections, though it isn't usually the first choice for UTIs. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. However, you should have the presence of an infection medically confirmed, since there are other conditions that may mimic the symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have a white or cream colored oblong pill and it is a fairly large pill. It is scored in the middle and on the left it has 93 and on the right it has 2264. I also have a white round pill with a fancy V on one side, and 2355 on the other side. Please help me identify them! ## 93 2264 is Amoxicillin 875mgs, an antibiotic. 2355 V contains Acetaminophen 325mgs, Butalbital 50mgs and Caffeine 40mgs, a generic for Fiorcet. This is commonly used to treat migraines and tension headaches. ## white round tablet BL on one side 93 on the other side ## Need pill identified. I was diagnosed with prostitis. I am a 25 yr old Male. I took 2 doses of 500mg (2 days worth out of 14). On the third day I decided to stop and switched to bactrium. That day I also worked out. The following night (over 24 hours from last dose of Levaquin) I woke up in the middle of the night and my left Achilles tendon was really sore and had a rash. I was wearing a sleeve for plantar facitis at the time. So I took off the sleeve and rash+ swelling went away. Side note I have felt "warm" since I have taken levaquin. My question is was the swelling and rash due to the levaquin? I have worn the sleeve many times and never has this happened. also when will levaquin be out of my system? Thank you and sorry for the spelling ## Hello, Mike! How are you? I'm sorry about the proble...

I have been prescribed bactrim that has 58\98 on it and I took all my doses and later I took a pregnancy test because I was late and I ended up two weeks pregnant can that harm the baby? ## How do you know how far along you are, unless you've already had a doctor's exam? As to the antibiotic, it is very doubtful that it would cause harm that early on, but it is best to see an OB Gyn and let them know that you were taking it, to be certain. Have you already set up an appointment with one? ## I have actually heard that it can be harmful in the first three months of pregnacy can cause blindness but I sorry usually when you are two weeks pregnant it won't even show on a test cause the hormone so low so you gotta be farther. I know this for fact have had five kids and pregnant my...

I have a sore throat, hurts to move head or injest anything. Can I take ampicilina 500mg to cure it? And how much do I have to take. I am allergic to doxycycline , can I take this ? ## Hello, Jojo! How are you? It depends on whether or not it is due to an infection and on the type of infection. Strep or other infections will require an antibiotic, but only your doctor can confirm the presence of one. An antibiotic shouldn't be taken, without your doctor telling you to do so, because doing so creates the risk of developing antibiotic resistance. Have you had strep, before?

Can't identify small, tiny round white pill scored one side, blank flip side scoring is L 72. What else an I tell you. That's all I know. If I knew more, wouldn't need to ask you. ## Hi Elizabeth, Is there any chance that your pill imprint might say "I 72" as opposed to "L 72"? I actually came across a description of a round gray pill (approx. 8mm in size), with an upper case "I" next to "72" on one side and blank on the other. Unfortunately I'm not sure it has a score line… however, the pill is said to be identified as a 75mg Minocycline HCL tablet; which is used to treat various types of bacterial infections (including some skin conditions). If you want to look up any of those details for verification, the manufacturer is Dr. Reddy...

Can you overdose on pentrexyl and what would happen to you if you did?? ## It is an antibiotic, so it would be very difficult to take enough of it to cause an overdose. However, what would be more likely to happen is your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, which could put your life in danger. Has this been prescribed for you?

Are some antibiotics more susceptible to downsides if combined with moderate alcohol (one glass of wine)? It was suggested that amox klav may be onealburman ## No, the side effects of all will be worsened if combined with alcohol. You may feel a lot more dizzy, drowsy and nauseous than usual. Thus, it may make it seem like one drink hits you as if you've had 2 and etc. Is there anything else I can help with?

can I used this medication for a yeast infextion? I don't have any symptoms on the inside \, just curious? ## Hello, Sadie! How are you? No, the Gentamicin is an antibiotic that can actually cause them or worsen an existing one. To treat a yeast infection, you need an antifungal medication. What types of symptoms are you having?

My child is 12 and 100lbs. Should I give her 500 mg or 250 mg of penicillan vk. It is for an oral infection. ## Hello, Lulu! How is your daughter? This should not be given, unless her doctor has confirmed the presence of an infection and prescribed it. If she doesn't have an infection, then giving her an antibiotic creates the risk of her developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. If she does have one, it may not be the right antibiotic. Is this a dental issue, or something else?
