It depends on how severe the allergy is, a mild one may just result in some joint aches and hives, but a severe one could cause the person's throat to swell and impair their breathing. I'm allergic to penicillin but was given keflex. is this safe or suicide? ## Hello, Big Taz! How are you? Keflex contains the active ingredient Cephalexin, so it is different than Penicillin. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. There is always a slight risk of your being allergic to another antibiotic, but very slight. My dermatologist prescribed me Doxycycl hyc 100 mg to be taken for 3 months! Is it normal to take antibiotics for that long? I m not sure what for did she prescribed those exactly... I went to the hospital yesterday as i had an ingrown toe nail infection. The doctor had prescribed augmentin, to be taken twice a day - 125mg. She also prescribed some probiotic medication and myprodol for the pain. By the evening, i had taken the 2nd dose of augmentin, 1 myprodol and 1 Reuterina tablet (Probiotic). This morning i woke up with severe chest pain and difficulty in breathing. My throat was very sore and my hands were painful. Its well into the day now, and i'm still battling with all of these symptoms. I have stopped taking all medication and i'm contemplating going back to the hospital. ## Hi Sin T! May i use thid medication since i have same symptoms. ## What symptoms? What was it prescribed for? The presence of an infection needs to be confirmed, before you take an antibiotic and, being expired, it may be starting to lose effectiveness, so it could create the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. I'm on vacation in Florida and am on thus medication for a bacterial infection. Dr said no drinking or exposure to sun! Great vacation !! Hi. I was prescribed Bactrim DS 800/160 tablets 2x a day for 10days. I tested negative for mono, strep, and tonsillitis. I do have some boils/abscess and they also gave me ointment for the nose (mupirocin) and body wash (hibiclens). And also (prednisone) was prescribed for my glands swollen. I'm awaiting test results. But my sincere concern is can I take them both together? And I already take kolnopin got anxiety and on the side effects I seen a lot of people said they got nervous, the shakes, couldn't sleep, and other scary symptoms. Hello, I was prescribed amoxicillin for my tooth. It is decaying. It's black, but what do you expect? Ha. Anyways I have no signs of infection (I don't think) and by that I mean I don't have any swelling. It hurts (of corse half my tooth is gone), but that's it. She had a very strong accent and I think she said when it starts sweeping just start taking them. The prescription says start taking them ASAP... Hi - Have really been down and out since Memorial day weekend. Though it was the flu - chills, fever, headache and body aches!! I was in bed 4 days before I started feeling a little better. Tried to return to somewhat normal activites as a middle school teacher. Never felt even 50 % back to normal and fever returned, some chills, low energy, sore throat, hoarse voice and worst cough I have ever had. Went to Dr.(Kasier) said probably upper respiratoy infect. No better after another 2 to 3 days homebound resting, cough syrup, hydration. A x-ray yesterday of chest shows heart, lungs, all normal and put me on 250 mg of azithromycin (5 day dosage plan) .
