Last year I suffered a major toxicity to Tylenol and cannot take that drug. Last week I was prescribed augmentin 825. After six days on it, I am having so many symptoms that are similar to Tylenol toxicity. Are there any-active or nonmedicinal-ingredients common to both drugs? ## Hi Curious! If you are having the same symptoms as you did with the Tylenol, you really need to call your doctor right away. ## P.s. Augmentin is used to treat bacterial infections and I couldn't find that it contains Tylenol. Are you taking it with food? I would still call the doctor. ## @Curious, According to the US National Library of Medicine, liver toxicity (although infrequent), can occur in individuals taking Augmentin. Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9380177 Because the Acetaminophen in Tylenol also ex...

I have been on By Mycin for 5 days and have finished my prescription. I found that my body developed a slight smell while on the drug. Is this a side effect of By Mycin and if so how long will the smell last. Thanking you, Rosemary Traynor ## Hello Rosemary, I can't find any reputable sources stating body odor as a side effect of By-Mycin, which contains the main ingredient Doxycyline. However, that doesn't mean it isn't a side effect since everyone has different body chemistry and can therefore react differently to medications. My only guess is that it could possibly be a yeast infection, as those are quite common after taking antibiotics and can cause an unpleasant odor. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Doxycycline Details I hope this helps in some way! #...

Is it safe to use in pregnancy 8 month and one week ## Hi Anup, Based on my research, Moxclav (amoxicillin + clavulanic acid) is classified as a pregnancy category B drug by the FDA. This means that there have been "no proven risks associated with human use". The US National Library of Medicine also verifies its safety in one of their controlled studies, stating that "exposure to amoxicillin + clavulanic acid during pregnancy is unlikely to result in an increased risk of fetal malformations." Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1884575 I hope this helps to answer your question!

I've recently discovered Microscopy. My insurance pays for it and it is available, but is likely to prevent disease and complications - so it isn't widely recommended by doctors. Microscopy means that a culture is grown on a petri dish to discover the disease causing bacteria. An antibiotics is then prepared to effectively kill the particular bacteria. This reduces use of antibiotics and helps maintain health and digestion. Some microscopy requires only spitting into a container - which is much easier than the blood tests that look for antibodies or general infections. It doesn't cost much and saves the insurance companies money - because it is less invasive and will protect health.
