I was able to warn many others about use and sure I saved lives. Please people pass the word along and search the terrible problems...not that rare, ## Hello, Bob! How are you? I am so very sorry for your loss. And thank you for posting this warning for others. People should always research every medication they're given and be fully informed of the possible risks that may be associated with them. Not everyone experiences a bad outcome, but it can happen. Is there anything I can help with? ## I was o...
May I take this drug for flu-like symtoms (i.e. nasal congestion, sore throat, runny nose)? ## Hello, Tyler! How are you? No, Septra will not do anything to treat cold or flu symptoms. It is an antibiotic that is only effective at treating bacterial infections, but cold or flu are caused by viruses. Taking it, when it isn't appropriate, creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, which could put you at serious risk, if you need to treat an infection in the future. Side effects to this medication may cause nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. According to the NIH, there are currently four drugs available to treat the flu, which your doctor can prescribe, if necessary. However, in most cases, it is simply best to let it runs its cour...
my grandson while sleeping is heavy sweating in the head and hair remains so wet as if he has just finished shower came out of bath. Because of this he is having cold every day while getting up and also the nose is always remaining congested. Can any Doctor advise me and suggest the best medication for this ## Does he have a lot of blankets on at night? It really sounds like he might be sick. Have you consulted his doctor? That would really be the best thing to do, he may have an infection, which would require a prescription for an antibiotic. ## Hello I'm not a doctor but my son had the same thing and it took us years to work out what it was. In the end he had his adenoids surgically removed and ever since has slept well, stopped sweating and no longer congested during the day. Wha...
Brown & yellow capsule it's an antibiotic med ## Hello, Maria! How are you? Yes, the marking is actually AA 820, but the A's are a logo, so they run together. It's manufactured by AvKare Inc. It contains 250mgs of the antibiotic Amoxicillin, which is used to treat or prevent bacterial infections. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
I was prescribed two amoxicillins for pneumonia. Amoxicillin 500mg and Amoxicillin /K Clav 875-125. Im suppose to take both twice a day and levofloxacin 750mg once a day. Is this too much antibiotics? ## Hello, Ruth! How are you feeling? I'm sorry that you're ill. No, multiple antibiotics are often prescribed, in the case of severe infections, to try to get the bacteria under control, so it can be eradicated as fast as possible. You may, however, experience more severe side effects than when taking only one, such as more severe dizziness, drowsiness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No further questions. Thank you for your response and for your care. Im doing quite well considering. Thanks again! ## You are welcome and I s...

Hello, GREAT web info. Can a penicillin allergenic person take amox pot clav 875 125 tab. Thank You... ## Hi Bruce, To answer your question, Penicillin and Amoxicllin are both related, so if I stand correct the risk of having an allergic reaction IS still possible. However, because not all allergens cross over, there are rare cases where someone may take one or the other without experiencing the same allergy. Is it worth taking a chance though? Probably not, in my opinion. I'd encourage you to talk with your doctor and see if he/she can offer you something different altogether. Better safe than sorry! I hope this helps! ## Hello David,Thanks for the reply...
Which might be a better antibiotic and cause less stress on your liver? ## Hello, Mike! How are you? Generally, Bactrim is the most problematic antibiotic, overall, not just for any possible effect on the liver. It tends to be much more harsh, since it is a sulfa based antibiotic, so it usually causes a lot more side effects and many more allergic reactions than others. It's also very rough on the kidneys and can easily cause dehydration. Thus, if you have a choice, you might want to try Cipro first and save the Bactrim as a last resort, if others don't work. I rarely tell anyone to take it as their first option. Typical side effects to Cipro may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
July 19th battery acid got in my eye. Have been on many meds, but am now only on Vigamox drops and doxy-cycl hyc 50mg cap mutual. Was told I had Roseacea. Am I on the right track to healing? ## Hi Mae, I'm very sorry to hear about the battery acid incident with your eye. I couldn't even begin to fathom how that might've felt, but one thing that doesn't add up in my mind is how rosacea (i.e. reddening or swelling of the skin) correlates with battery acid in your eye..? Did some of the acid get on your face/skin too? Vigamox (moxifloxacin) on the other hand is used to treat bacterial infections in the eyes, so that to me seems like an appropriate course of action if an infection has been confirmed. Doxycycline is also used to treat a variety of bacterial infections...where...
I have a tooth infection and started taking clindamycin for it i have to get my teeth extracted in 6days. Will the infection be gone by then so i can have the tooth extracted? ## Hi Debbie, Sorry to hear about your tooth infection. I'm actually in the same boat as you, getting an extraction in the next month or so for an infected wisdom tooth. Most people get them taken out when they're young, but at age 25 I guess it's better late than never Lol. At any rate, most antibiotics such as Clindamycin, are often prescribed for 7-10 days, depending on the severity of the infection. But my guess is that the vast majority of the infection may be eradicated well within the parameters of that time frame, especially closer to the 7th day mark, when many patients are actually finished w...

Updated in Purbacmy husband was given some capsules that I have never seen. They are pale yellow with TEVA 3109 on them. I couldn't find anything online except with 93 and these do not have that on them. ## Hi phe, These white capsules marked with TEVA 3109 are identified as Amoxicillin (500 mg), which is used to treat bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms. Manufacturer: Teva Pharmaceuticals USA National Drug Code (NDC): 00093-3109 Learn More: Amoxicillin Details I hope this helps! :) ## Keep in mind that the Cylin family has possible side effects including Nausea, dizziness, and diarrhea. But a little known fact to the diabetic population prescribed this medication, you may find elevated blood glucose while on this medication. Any cylin drug should be discussed with your Endocry...
My husband has strep throat and has no insurance. He has some sulfa.... Here but we are not sure if he can use it... ## Hello, Kathy! How is your husband doing? This is an antibiotic, so it can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections. However, the concern is that if he doesn't have enough to complete a full course of it, it could create the risk of his developing antibiotic resistant bacteria, the same is true if he doesn't actually have an infection. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. It would really be best for him to see a doctor to have them confirm the presence of an infection, if there is one and to have the proper antibiotic prescribed. What dosage is this one?
I was taking cipro for prostatities and I had a bad reaction now I'm taking apo sulfatrim ds 800 160 mg dosage twice a day . Will this be safer than cipro ## Hello, Fab82! How are you? The only way to know is by actually trying it and seeing how it affects you. It may work better for you than the Cipro did, but you could also suffer some adverse side effects from this one, as well. There's just no way to know ahead of time. Typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. What type of reaction did you have to the Cipro?
I've been taking cephalexin 500 mg 3 times a day for 5 days now for my upper respiratory infection and sinus infection per dr request but i still feel pretty rough. Still coughing and blowing out nasty stuff. Why isn't this working yet? ## Hi Janice, Sorry to hear about your situation. Depending the severity of the infection(s) some doctors prescribe these antibiotics for up to 7-10 days, so it's possible that you may not get full relief for another 2-5 days. On another note, Cephalexin also has some strange side effects that in my opinion could inadvertently be mistaken for an ongoing infection. This includes "coughing, nausea and vomiting, sore throat, tightness in the chest, etc". Ref: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0044994/#DDIC603067.side_effects_section But n...
My daughter is 14 yrs old and 120 lbs and 5 ft 9 in. She went to doc this am for strep like symptoms, but it came out neg but doc prescribed liquid amoxicillin (7ml) every 12 hrs. Her throat is feeling worse - could she have the wrong dosage? ## Amoxicillin comes in 125 mg, 250 mg, and 400 mg per 5 cc. The top reasonable dose is 90 mg per Kg, and she is about 55 kg. Amoxicillin is usually given 2 or 3 times per day. So - bottom line I don't think she is in danger of too high a dose. ## @worried, I'm trying to figure out why the doctor even prescribed an antibiotic if the results came back negative for an infection? That just doesn't make any sense logically, unless there's something we don't already know? And with her throat now feeling worse after taking it, I wonde...
I recently started taking ibilex 500 for a skin irritation (possibly a bite) I started taking it 3-4 days ago and suddenly I have developed red itchy bumps on my ankles I have one on my right and 4 on my left... Could this be a possible side effect? ## Hello, Sheels! How are you? No, while antibiotics may cause a rash as a side effect, both it and an allergic reaction would be over most of your body, not localized like that. Other typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and diarrhea. Where was the skin irritation, or bite? The bumps could be related to that. Have you had your doctor look at them?
Capsule dark and light green in color marked with 141 / KLX ## Hello, Misty! How are you? There isn't any specific one, it really depends on the type and severity of the infection. The capsule you've asked about contains 500mgs of Cephalexin, which can be used to treat various types of bacterial infections. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Has your doctor prescribed this for you? ## No I haven't been seen by a Dr. Due to lack of insurance, however I am experiencing painful symptoms and swelling resembling an abscess inside my gum just above my teeth. Plus one of the teeth affected has a moderately progressive crater (cavity) resulting in my not being able to eat. This is lasting the duration of my sinusiti...
