Amphetamines False Positive Drug Test (Page 4) (Top voted first)

I have somehow tested positive for amphetamine but the only drug that I touch Is marijuana. How is this possible? It was a urine test done in a hospital.

I am a chemist. I take adderall by rx daily. I am on probation and take routine urinalysis tests. And I fail for methamphetamine routinely. Adderall is a broad spectrum amphetamine meaning it actually has a racemic mixture of 4 different amphetamine salts. None of which are methamphetamine. The problem I have is entrusting my legal battles in the hands of non qualified probation officers to take a very complex analysis of my urine metabolites. They can be just short of being troglodytes and are trained to react and not to think. But it is not all their fault. I partially blame the manufacturers of the test kits for labeling all amphetamines in the colloquial term methamphetamine. This sends an immediate red flag to the P.O. and results in needless stress and jail time for me. But once again I am guilty until proven innocent. If this happens to you demand that an outside lab run the very same positive sample on a ms/gc if they are willing to do this to prove you're not taking methamphetamine. I’d be curious to hear from anyone else going through this.

My sister had took a saliva drug test on wednsday and results came back negative friday 2 days late they did another swab n it came back positive for amphetamine she has not done any drugs only thing she took was tylonal cold & flu because she had got sick really bad and now there saying she been useing methamphetamine. Can tylonal cold &flu give a false positive test

I have been taking tru vision supplements for weight loss for about 2 months. I took a blood test and it came back positive for cocaine, I DO not use drugs other than what is prescribed for my blood pressure and water pills. I have taken many tests, but this is the first time it came back positive?? Is there any ingredient in this product, tru control tru fix by tru vision products?,

I have also just tested positive for amphetamine with a hair test, and I know for a fact I haven't taken it. Social services tested me I want a second opinion.

At the time I was very sick and was on Prednisone, Combivent inhaler, Benzonatate, and Advair amongst Nyquil at times and Advil cold and sinus. Please get back to me asap if any of these test positive for amphetamines.

I recently had a drug test and tested positive for Amphetamine. I have no idea what that is or how I could have tested positive for it. Someone please help.....I take generics for Zoloft, Ropinirole, Geodon, Trazodone, Pantoprazole, Zyrtec, and Klonopin.

Weight pills will case false positives. You can Google it and it will give you studies that show it! I hope this helps

@nicole,

If you or someone you know is facing serious consequences such as a job loss or jail time, due to the false positive, then there are a couple options I would consider trying.

There is specific testing, such as that done by a gas chromatograph mass spectrometer, which has the ability to distinguish the exact substance in question. This type of testing is not initially performed because of cost, but, is often a follow-up option for those in need.

If you're able to I would also ask your doctor if additional testing may be done on the original sample so that a second sample may be taken. Unfortunately, the standard tests typically used for screenings lack the sensitivity to distinguish beyond the basic structures of the drug; but at least a second test gives you a chance to beat the odds of a false positive.

Am seeing a pain med Dr. due to MS. Gave a complete list of meds I take which include opiates, benzos & antidepressant med, all prescribed. Had a random urine test, had no problem with that. Pain Dr. says my test came back positive for a low level of amphetamines, which I have Never taken! He believes me but I am totally baffled. Two of my family members take meds, prescribed for ADD, but I don't have ADD so I don't take them. Maybe I took one by mistake, my husband does ask me to carry a few for him in my handbag if we are traveling or away for a whole day, I am on several meds, all prescribed, so I do carry a weekly pill container with me at all times. Thoughts or advice appreciated!

I'm on methadone maintenance programme and frequently get tested for everything.. A few months ago in my old city I tested positive for Ritalin - I asked for a re-test within 24 hours which came back negative, and I was believed. But, the same thing happened last week, my result came back positive for amphetamines, and they weren't able to get hold of me in time for me to do a re-test.. Now I've gotten in major trouble for taking something that I HAVEN"T TAKEN! I've heard that Fluoxetine (which I'm on) and Iboprofen (which I do take occasionally) can both trigger a false positive, has anyone else had this?
