Can I take Mucinex along with Tylenol & Amoxicillin / Clavulanate Potassium Tablets, USP 875 mg/125 mg? ## Hi Nancy, According to the University of Maryland Medical Center (umm.edu / drug interaction tool), there are no interactions listed between Mucinex, Tylenol (acetaminophen) and Amoxicillin. While this doesn't necessarily mean no interactions exist, I personally haven't had any issues taking these together in the past. However, if in doubt, it may be a good idea to double check with your doctor first. I hope this helps!

My son who is now one year old had an ear infection in April of this year and he is messing with his ears again. Is it safe for me to give him the amoxicillin I have? What antibiotic has a shelf life of 10 years? ## I don't know of any that have that long of a shelf life and I can't find one listed. It generally varies by drug, so there may be one, however. As to Amoxicillin, it has a shelf life of 2 years, from the date of production and your pharmacist has to give it to you with a minimum of one year left on the expiration date, until it starts to lose potency, except when it is a liquid preparation, which have a 7 to 10 day lifespan. Since a total knee replacement in January 2008, my surgeon has prescribed Amoxicillin prior to my 6 month dental exams and cleaning. Within 8 hours from taking the Amoxicillin, I become ill every time. The illness is never exactly the same. A year ago, I was stick for a week with flu-like symptoms. how can I tell what the number of mg's are in a pink and purple capsule of amoxicillin with the number A45 on each capsule ## I just received this medication from my pharmacist and it is supposed to be 500 mg of amoxicillin, and manufactured by Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals. My daughter is 3 yrs old and has a bad ear infection. They actually had to scrape her ear canal down even around ear drum to be able to see behind it and they also gave her 200 mg of amoxicillin to take. She takes 8. 5 mls 2 times a day. I have a gum infection. My dentist prescribed Amoxicillin 500 mg, 4 times a day. Would this be considered to be a "normal" dose of the medication? It seems to me to be quite a high dosage, i.e., 2000 mg a day. I just need some guidance on this. ## It can vary, depending on the severity of the infection being treated and thus, can range from 2 to 4 doses daily. And you also have to remember that in this case, where it is a gum infection being treated, you have to eradicate the existing infection and prevent reinfection, since you have to eat every day and expose your gums to further possible contaminants. I went in with bad ear aches and was obviously told I have ear infections. I was given amoxicillin along with Neomycin and polymyxin b sulfates and hydrocortisone otic solution, usp. It was fine the first two days then the third day and today it burns my right ear very badly. I can't keep it in the 5 min. My left ear still feels no major pain when using. I've taken nine 500mg tablets of Alphamox (3 times a day for 3 days). I would like to know how long it will take for it to completely leave my system now that I have stopped taking it? This is because I need to take a new medication but can't until Alphamox is out of my system as it won't work with the Alphamox.
