Just started taking this med twice a day and I have a SEVERE headache - Is this normal? ## Hi Mary, From what I could gather, amoxicillin may cause headache in some patients. I've been using Clavam 625 and have noticed that I started getting a skin rash. Is this a known side effect? If so, please advise what I can do to help get rid of it. ## Also, is there any alternative to Clavam 625 that I could ask my doctor about? ## Clavam contains Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid, it is an antibiotic that's commonly prescribed in the U.S. under the brand name Augmentin and yes, a skin rash can be a normal side effect. Unfortunately, the only remedy is to stop taking the medication and let the rash wear off. If taking coamox after how many hours can I drink alcohol?? ## Although alcohol can interact with certain medicines, in the case of Amoxicillin trihydrate, there are no known interactions between the two. Referenced from: nhs.uk/medicine-guides/pages/MedicineOverview.aspx?condition=Bacterial%20infections&medicine=Amoxicillin%20trihydrate&preparationAmoxicillin%20250mg%20capsules That said, I think you may have to be you're own best judge as to when and how often you decide to drink while you're taking this medication (basing it off of how you feel). Personally, if I were to drink, I would wait till after I feel the effects of the medication kick in, so I know that it's already working. I hope this info helps!

Is this medication for yeast infection and can i still take it if the experation date is 03/11/10? ## No and no. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic and, as such, it can actually cause a yeast infection, it will not clear one up. It is only effective for bacterial infections and a yeast infection is caused by fungal growth. Learn more Augmentin information here. And once expired, it begins to lose effectiveness and should not be used, because it increases the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. My husband is wondering if HE can get a yeast infection while taking Amoxicillin/Clavulanate with potassium. Also Wonder why is there potassium in this antiobotic? ## Many antibiotics can cause yeast infections. I wouldn't go so far as to single one out over another as to my knowledge they can all be premature causes of yeast infections depending upon how each individual responds to the drug. Regarding the addition of potassium, Amoxicillin + Clavulanate Potassium is actually just a more potent version of the original Amoxicillin. I'm not completely sure how this addition effects the way the drug is absorbed, but if your husband is really concerned about a yeast infection I would strongly suggest looking into natural alternatives, such as essential oils (oregano, thyme, clove, c...
