I took Amoxicillin 875 mg twice a day for 7 days. I had to get emergency treatment for hypersensitivity, but I think it would have been worse if I had waited. I was at least three times treated in an emergency room for anaphylaxis shock for an egg allergy. I am diagnosed with symptomatic asthma, especially during an allergy attack. This is my third day after the emergency. I take three Prednisone at once daily. Prescription is for five days. The next day after the ER visit, I felt good in the morning, but did not take my Prednisone. I relapsed badly. Today, 3rd day, I added 50 mg of Benadryl on my own, not prescribed by the ER physician. My breathing seems to be OK, but not normal. Blood pressure is normal, but is a rollercoaster, especially when I take Prednisone. My face and chest are...

Can I use ibunate to help with pain and swelling after circumcision? I also have an infection. Will it be effective when used in conjunction with amoxicillin? Thanks. ## Yes, there is a chance it could help, but you should only take it, if your doctor approves. The NIH lists the typical side effects for these medications as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach irritation, diarrhea, and increased risk of bleeding. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change?

I take levothyroxine first thing in the morning. I know I can't take liquid iron (ferrous glutamate) until four hours after the levothyroxine, but when do I start taking the amoxicillin, which I'm prescribed to take four times a day? ## Usually, unless instructed otherwise, these medications should be taken (the levothyroxine and Amoxicillin) an hour apart. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this antibiotic as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

mucus ,short of breathe, minor wheezing, coughing ## Hello, Wes! How are you? This is an antibiotic, so it will only help with bacterial infections. If your symptoms are due to something such as a cold or allergies, it will not help and taking it when it isn't appropriate may result in your developing antibiotic resistance. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Has the presence of an infection been confirmed? ## I have used Amoxil for bronchitis and ear infections before. As long as it is bacterial it should treat a broard spectrum of illnesses.

I have a gum infection due to my wisdom tooth growing in but it is just the gum, not my tooth. I was in pain and my dentist told me to take Amoxicillin, he also told me that it may be painful and that i should take advil with it if i cant bare the pain. It has now been 1 day and i have taken 3 Amoxicillin pills in total. I woke up this morning and my gum was very swollen and in a lot of pain. I am also having a very rough time swallowing anything, even my own saliva. I wanted to know if it's normal for my gum to be in this much pain after 1 day of taking the drug and if it should decrease the more I take Amoxicillin (3 times a day)? I can see that my gum has increased in swelling/pain ever since I have taken the drug, my pain was not this bad 2 days ago before I even went to the den...

For an 11 year old boy who weighs 90 lbs. ## Hello, Jill! How are you? The dosage of this antibiotic for children can vary, depending on the severity of the infection being treated, as well as the child's weight, so it should be given according to their doctor's prescribing instructions. I extracted my wisdom (molar) teeth - right lower 2 weeks back. I am feeling a pain in the next adjacent teeth. Doctor prescribed root canal, but I am going on a tour from tomorrow for 2 weeks. Is there any intermediate solution to this? ## I have pain in my tooth in the lower portion, so i want to know if there are any remedies? ## I've been on amoxicillin for a week and Tylenol 3 and my tooth still hurts. Is it because I'm still drinking soda? Is that why I'm still in pain? ## I have taken cyclobenzaprine (10mg) for a severe toothache a couple times and by the next day I'm usually fine.

I had a severe reaction to this where I broke out starting at my hands and feet with itching, then broke out around my lips and eyes and then my legs from top to bottom. My tongue swelled and itched everywhere. I took benadryl, then my heart started to hurt, feeling like an attack. I do know that the amoxicillin caused the itch and swelling of my tongue but do not know what caused my heart to react. ## Hi Christina, I'm sorry you had to go through all that. I hope you got emergency medical attention after all that! Based on my research, it does sound like you had an allergic reaction to the Amoxicillin. In regards to the chest pain, the Benadryl shouldn't have caused that since it is safe to take with Amoxicillin. Everyone is different though, so maybe it did effect you in some ...

I was taken Amoxicillin that my dentist Rx to me but its been 3 days now N I have developed a sore throat witch the Amoxicillin is not doing anything for. So can I stop taking that one n start with Ciprofloxacin 500 mg I have instead? ## Hello, Mindy! How are you doing? An antibiotic isn't going to help a sore throat, unless it's due to an infection. And either way, they do take time to work, improvement should be seen after taking it for a full 3 days. Learn more Amoxicillin details here. After that if there is still no improvement, you should contact your dentist, because it may not be the right antibiotic to eradicate your infection. Our grandson was prescribed the liquid pink Amoxicillin recently. He is 13 years old and quite capable of swallowing pills. Why would a doctor prescribe this method to someone this age? Also, when the doctor was told that the boy was leaving, the next day, on a trip and there was no way to refrigerate this med, we were told that he would get it in it's powdered form and it could be mixed with sterile water. WTH, why not just prescribe an antibiotic in pill form? I don't understand this kind of stupidity! ## The pills tend to taste horrible, so it is often easier to get a child of this age to swallow a flavored liquid. It doesn't mean the doctor is being stupid, but rather that they are trying to ensure the child will take all of it, as prescribed. The FDA lists its typical s...

I have a gum infection and my dentist put me on amoxicillin 500 3Xday. I have been on it for 5 days and the gums look and feel fine but the xray still shows a pocket of infection beside the tooth. The gum drained within 24 hrs. of being on the meds and has not reformed a pus sack on the gum. I only have 2 days left of the prescription. Will it be enough? My dentist thinks the infection was caused by something entering under the gum ( probably popcorn ). Thank you ## Hello, Kathy! How are you doing? Has there been any change? It is hard to say, you may need a longer course of antibiotic to fully remove the abscess. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, diarrhea, and non-allergic skin rash.

I was prescribed pilva 787 for pneumonia 2 days ago and I haven't been able to sleep yet. What should I do? ## Insomnia can be a side effect of most antibiotics, according to FDA reports, as odd as it may seem. Some people experience drowsiness, some experience insomnia and irritability, along with dizziness, and diarrhea. My husband has been dealing with it recently, because he was taking a steroid, then put on Amoxicillin. At least he is on call some nights, so he needs to be awake, anyway, in case the phone rings. LOL How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications?

My husband has strep throat. He was prescribed amoxicillin & is on day 5 of taking them. His fever broke but his throats still looks terrible and is sore. He called his doctor today and they told him to stop taking the amoxicillin if it hasn't worked yet and prescribed him a z pack. I'm a nurse and have always been under the impression that a patient needs to finish the complete course of an antibiotic so they don't build a resistency to it. Should he finish the amoxicillin first instead of just stopping abruptly to start the z pack? ## No, one can switch from one to the other, if their doctor instructs them to do so, there is nothing to worry about. Drug resistance would occur if someone stopped taking all antibiotics, before the infectious bacteria was fully eradicated...

I have been prescribed amoxicillin 1g 3x a day for 7 days. I am on day 3 and now have a yeast infection. My pharmacist said to take fluconazole (1 pill). Will this be ok to take while still on amoxicillin? ## Yes, they are often prescribed together, when someone is prone to getting yeast infections from antibiotics. Amoxicillin almost always causes one for me, so my doctor usually just prescribes them together from the get go. Your doctor is always the best judge, I can only tell you that they are commonly taken together. The NIH warns that you may experience side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, flatulence, and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?
