Amlodipine is known to cause erectile dysfunction. What is an alternative drug that does not do this? Thanks.

Hello, Jim! How are you?

Not everyone experiences this side effect, according to the FDA, so there is no way of knowing if it will cause you to experience ED. Additionally, it is a potential side effect for all blood pressure/cardiac medications, so there isn't any that can be guaranteed not to cause it.

The best thing to do is to try the medication you've been prescribed, and if it does cause problems, inform your doctor and ask about trying an alternative medication.

Is there anything else I can help with?
