Sir,/Madam I am 58 years age,taking tryptomer 25 since last two months. I feel relax but I feel always to sleep. I am taking regularly two pegs of alcohol. Is there any side affect to take alcohol as I am taking rum regularly in the night only since last 20 years . I want sleep always by taking this medicine. please advice me ## Trytomer contains the active ingredient Amitriptyline, which is a Tricyclic antidepressant and yes, your problem may be caused by mixing it with alcohol. It can cause drowsiness as a side effect and alcohol can intensify that effect. It can also be very toxic to your liver, so you shouldn't be drinking while taking this medication. Can Trazadone be used to treat a chronic cough like amitriptyline? ## Based on my research Trazodone is indicated for: Clinical depression with or without anxiety. Insomnia, Fibromyalgia, to aid in sleeping. Control of nightmares or other sleep disturbances. Amitriptyline can also be used as a sleeping aid in small doses. I did not know either of them had an off label use for chronic cough? correct me if I'm wrong, but I personally haven't seen anything stating otherwise. That said, I don't think it is specifically indicated to help with coughing; but if you personally find that it has been working for you then I'd advise you to contact your doctor who prescribed it, to give you the OK to continue using it for that. I am currently using 3 Trepline 25mg tablets a day, but would like to go on Ziaban to stop smoking. Can this be done? I was on Ziaban previously and would have stopped smoking, the only thing was that I had this dreadfull anger. Is there any medication to counteract weight gain on amitriptyline. ## In my opinion choosing another medication to counteract another medication is not a good idea, due to the increase risk of side effects from each medication and possible contraindications between one another. I believe the most logical option for your health and weight loss is to do it with proper exercise and diet on a daily basis. Combining lots of fruits and vegetables with clean protein sources will help you loss any weight you may have gained in a timely fashion. Even if that isn't an affordable option, the fruits and veggies alone will do you plenty of justice in the weight loss category. Feel free to post back if you have any questions about this.

I would like to know if one can take Trepiline and Aterax in combination ? ## Trepiline contains the active ingredient Amitriptyline, it is a tricyclic antidepressant. Atarax contains the active ingredient Hydroxyzine, it is an antihistamine, used to treat allergic reactions and for its sedating/calming effects. They can be used together, but you should know that using both at the same time can cause additive effects, so you should know to watch for certain signs of possible problems, such as: blurred vision, fever, disorientation and hyperactivity.
