Amitriptyline Vs Nortriptyline (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedHi everyone, I'm interested in amitriptyline and/or nortriptyline. I have been taking amitriptyline 100mg at night. As usual my dose was increased over time. The only side effect I had difficulty with is that grogginess in the morning which I don't like. I'm most interested in no grogginess. I was told that it shall pass as my body adjusts. I found a different drug called nortriptyline accidentally while looking for insurance. They consider amitriptyline to be a tier 4 as to nortriptyline a tier 2, that's a huge difference in price for me, so I looked it up and they seem to be basically the same medicine but I noticed that in the comments area the grogginess was not so much a problem as to the other medicine...so if anyone can help me out with feedback that would be great. I don't go back to the dr. for 3 weeks...and I want to be prepared for what I might ask for. So is nortriptyline better than amitriptyline? Thx everyone.
Re: Charlene (# 17)
Hello Charlene, I talked to my doctor about your questions about amitriptyline versus nortriptyline. He said that both drugs have the same chemical ingredients and literally the same. So switching from one to another can be no difference for you as far as how you feel. You can try and see you have less grogginess and memory problems with nortriptyline. However, you said that amitriptyline is a tier 4 drug and nortriptyline is tire 2 which may be the indication of the quality. But I don’t know for sure. I know that even brand drugs can be very bad and toxic to the body. So, Charlene it is for you to decide what drug if any is worth to take. My doctor said that these both drugs are prescribed for sleeping issues, anxiety, depression, and the nerve pain and if you decide stop taking it, you can try acupuncture, herbs, and meditation. It may help you. Have a good night and be well!!!!
Re: Charlene (# 17)
Charlene, Thank you for letting me know about magnesium malate. I will research it and see what form is good. What brand of magnesium malate do you recommend and how many mg? Before I bought the cheep one from the Walgreens but I think I would rather invest in a better quality. I am so glad that you are enjoying learning about the zodiac signs, planets, and sky. Our plane is wonderful and mysterious and can teach us a lot. I think you have a wonderful hobby! I also enjoy nature. I take my dog on a walk on the nature trails and enjoy watching trees, birds, and sky. It is very pretty now outside. I am a big fan of Fall and Winter. Charlene, If you decide to try an acupuncture, choose the one with good and long experience and not the young one but the one who is well experienced and has a good reputation.
Re: Galina (# 22)
Well Galina, thank u for all the new info. I just soak it all in. I should have been a better student in school way back in the day. With all the research I do my teachers would be shocked. LOL. Before I bought my magnesium malate I did so much searching . At the time I had no idea how many and which one does what. I joined a few groups of nice people and now my friends.. everyone shares ideas and that's how I really found out about magnesium.. we bought ours at the vitamin shop. You can order online, and I realized we had a store just 15 minutes away.
We decided on the Source Naturals brand. The bottle says 1250mg 360 tablets for $27.99. It says to take 3/day, but we only take one and it's worked out just fine. Our first bottle was through Walgreens buy one get 50% off. But my husband is a shopper and will always shop for the best prices. After 37 yrs we decided to go with the middle prices since others are too expensive and I don't want the cheapest either.
But I have to say I looked up the chelated... It's a very good one.. I mean when we googled ours it said for energy, nerve function, and helps muscles relax. That's all ours said too. So idk, they must be very close, and yes, I love the winter skies. All the brightest stars are out to explore. Lay down with binoculars and oh my, beautiful diamonds in the sky...
I have never ever looked into acupuncture, but now my mind is triggered.. I'm about done and tired of all the pharmaceutical companies. Sometimes I think they are the ones actually making us sicker. My husband swears with what and how many vaccination they require for babies is ridiculous... I live in Florida and finally we get to enjoy some cooler days. Not much but I'll take it... I hope u have a beautiful Christmas, happy holidays. And let's talk soon. ?? {affiliate link added}
Re: Charlene (# 23)
Hello Charlene, Merry Christmas to you and to your family too and I hope you have a wonderful holidays! You are right there are many forms of magnesium and all of them have good benefits. I read a lot about magnesium malate and it looks like it has a lot of benefits. I have not order this one yet but I will after I finish the one I ordered already. I recently ordered magnesium Glycinate chelate and hope that it will be just as good as malate form. I am just like you will take only one capsule a day. Charlene, you are right about the Big Pharma. I have become very suspicious and not trusting anymore of the pharmaceuticals. We have no idea what they put in those drugs, and your husband is right about all the vaccines that are given to the children. I heard that a lot of vaccines contain mercury heavy metals as a preservatives and it is very toxic to the body especially little kids. Over the past year, my husband has not been feeling well and we started to dig in what possibly could make him sick and discovered that his medication for the hypertension was making him sick. I took him off the Lisinopril and he is doing much better. We never thought before that the blood pressure meds can causes side effects but apparently they do. Also our friends experienced bad reaction to lisinopril as well. So Charlene you are right that it is so hard to trust the pharmaceuticals because often times their meds make us very sick. Also if in future you need to take antibiotics be very careful with metronidazole/ FLAGYL. This drug made me very sick. From this antibiotic I got severe CNS damage in my body. Also never take Cipro, Levaquin and Avelox antibiotics. The are very dangerous and damaging to the body. Overall, I hope that you are doing better and recovering well from the nerve pain in your face. Have a nice day! I am sure it is nice weather in Florida. I live in Washington state and enjoying cool winter days!!!
