Pseudoephedrine is a BCS class 3 compound. What is needed to get a biowaiver for an EU country (FDA has a more stricter view on BCS class 3)? Would dissolution data work? I can't imagine conducting a BE study for an OTC drug, but can't find justification to waive one. I started this drug on April 22, taking 2 pills in less than 7 hrs, according to drs. instructions then 1 every 12 hrs, finishing on evening of April 28. Given drug for kidney infection and have never had this med before. Extremely concerned about warnings that came with it but had what I found out later to be serious side effects, i.e. cramping in legs and soaking night sweats, which are still continuing as of this date,this being my biggest concern. Years ago in the 50's and 60's, Novahistine was available over the counter. My pediatrician had recommended it for my children and I found it very helpful. Then, sometime in the 70's it was withdrawn. Doctors do not prescribe it and it seems to have disappeared from the market. Does anyone know why this happened?
