After Effexor

It has been 6 months since I stopped taking effexor. It is really hard to think back of all the details because the last 6 months seem very foggy in my head. I had a bad drinking problem and wanted to stop drinking so my doctor gave me something to deal with the alcohol withdrawals for a couple days. Then I was immediately prescribed effexor for depression and social anxiety. I thought to myself what could it hurt trying this stuff? I started at the lowest dose and didn't feel like it was doing anything, so of course a month later I was taking the highest dose of 300 I believe it was. I was taking effexor for 4 months when I realized that I had become completely numb and very irritable at things that would never usually bother me. I didn't want to talk to anyone, I just wanted to stay at home and curl up in a ball in the corner. My partner owns a business that I no longer could help out with. Needless to say I wanted off this medication. The doctor weened me off in about a week and I started to feel energized and me again, but that is when things really started to go downhill. I started to become this person who didn't give a f*** about anything and hated the world. I couldn't sleep. I was very angry at everybody. I thought everyone I knew was out to get me. Everyone close to me had no idea what was going on, they all thought I was on some kind of other drug because they didn't know who I was anymore. Under all this pressure I left town, I left my FIANCE. I started to feel like a crazy person, I didn't have anywhere to go because I had ruined every relationship I had in a matter of a couple weeks. I didn't even know who I was anymore. I turned into an ugly person, sleeping around. After about a month I finally came back to my partner who I can no longer call my fiancé. Obviously our relationship isn't what it used to be, I can only be grateful that my partner took me back after all I have done. I don't know how to fix the relationships I have lost because I know that they won't understand how I was feeling. Still today, 6 months later I feel more depressed than ever, I have no appetite, I just want to cry all the time, my head still feels like it wants to explode(lots of pressure in my temple area) I feel like a huge embarrassment to this world. I only recently started to feel like I can get through this. Keep in mind that this is only the highlights of my f***ed up time caused by this medication. I feel like I started getting better when I finally started researching the effects of this medication and now I know that I am not the only one that has gone crazy. Just like everyone else has said, if I knew the effects of this medication I would have NEVER started taking it.

Hi I have been on effexor . everyone's body reacts differently on this antidepressant. I for one thank the doctor for finally finding a drug that works . I am active love the outdoors. I did gain some weight but I'd rather be a little over weight than depressed. If someone goes off this drug then it zaps inside your head not while your taking. At least that much I know. Because I never took the effexor for a few days and the zaps occurred. Never try and just stop taking any meds without the doctors advise.
