Advil Nightime Bathroom Visits

Updated December 29, 2011

When I take one Advil before bedtime I sleep through the night with usually only 1 bathroom visit... As an older Male I usually go 3-4 times a night without it... I have discussed with my Doctor and they see no correlation... but it works for me... Any comments?

Have you consulted a urologist?

Because actually, if you have a slightly enlarged Prostate, this makes perfect sense. The Ibuprofen in the Advil is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, so it may be helping to reduce swelling, so your prostate isn't putting the pressure on your bladder that it usually does, so you don't have to wake and urinate as frequently as usual.

There are also a few other possibilities for where swelling could be occurring that could cause it.
