Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 58)
(Newest replies first)

Updated

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

Has anybody tried Impax generic adderall? The pharmacy I went to this morning said that is the only brand they carry when and if they get in..

Excellent points made by Speak Up. Yours is an attitude and a confidence, I respect. Everybody....you, me, all of us who takes this seriously....yeah you...the daily management of this unique medication called Adderall requires from me the most attention and priority I can give it... When I really dig in for a few months, and consistently exercise, pay close attention to nutrition, hydration, a proper night's sleep, alkalizing my body to increase the absorption & retention. Sounds overkill, I know, but in my experience, these things take me to the best version of myself.

I eat way more vegetables, way more fruit which alkalize the body and I ate way less less acidic foods. Google a chart on acidic/basic food PH..... Told me what to eat what not. So...I followed it. I thought it was bulls*** at first too...but I stuck with it for 30 days and it improved my problem solving skills, my multitasking....you know, getting work/stuff/s*** DONE...and done well, one thing at a time.

That last sentence is what I like best about my Adderall experience. That's the feeling....when I'm on top of my game...and...I have a good handle on daily decisions....feels good, man, it feels damn good!

Taking Adderall is no joke, folks...seriously...it is a responsibility that I don't underestimate anymore. But when I'm on top of it, the very best version of me comes out.

My experience here only... folks..not trying to push anyone to any direction.. it is much better to find out for yourself anyway, than to take a person's word you've never met...take his word for it...No. Of course not!!

In reply to Edward,
Your response was very astute for the most part, and in a perfect world all of our doctors would listen to and value our input, however, many do not and especially regarding a med that has such potential for abuse. Adjust your own dosage and begin coming up short or asking for changes in strength and you will often be met with strong resistance, or suspicion at the least, even when calmly and rationally and factually presented. I agree that we should all strive to have a relationship with our doctors that allows us to be as involved in our own care as we wish to be.
On the issue of adjusting the dosage, and getting good results from all of the generics, I would have to guess that you have been fortunate enough thus far to have not gotten the junk that many of us have....
Because 2 or 3 of nothing is still NOTHING.
I knew something was wrong, and I called Walgreens right away. They claimed that there had been no changes AT ALL. Well I know that is not true, and the really infuriating thing is that THEY KNOW that's not true.

Seems to me that any time a change in brand is made we should be notified, one would think. Apparently not the case though. And if you leave the counter, but not the store, and discover the change, too bad. No returns allowed. I will be contacting corporate regarding the non reporting of change of brand though. The no refund policy is reasonable, albeit annoying, it is for everyone's protection. While the lack of notification of Chang is definitely NOT for our protection.

I will definitely be looking in to getting 4 or 5 prescriptions for small quantities and trying other brands, because the Teva 20 mg IR is definitely not effective. I can not understand why there is such a problem with the regulation of quality in medication, and I think that we all really need to speak up about it.

Folks, COMPLAIN TO THE AUTHORITIES, or nothing will change. See the links on page 6 I believe it is, and follow up your discoveries with some action.
Good Luck

And please, everyone, do your best with the grammar and spelling and punctuation. It really does matter.

I agree with a lot of what you just posted minus saying that hinders and fillers have no effect on the medication. I know from personal experience at least with me that they will play very important role on how the medication is absurd in your body and the overall effectiveness of the medication itself.

The frustration & anger comes through loud and clear in your post.
I'll share my experience and maybe it will help you get back on track.

My first few months taking Adderall, I naively thought that my pharmacists and even my psychiatrist would guide me along until I had a working knowledge of Adderall and what to expect from it.
How mistaken was I.
But I learned a valuable lesson that still helps me today manage my Adderall and my ADD.
The lesson is that I alone am my advocate for my treatment from doctors and medication from pharmacists.

I am no longer afraid to ask WHY when a doctor treats me. I've accumulated enough facts and information about my ADD & Adderall to speak on a level to doctors/pharmacists that immediately earns respect and attention which in my experience equals better care for me.
The message I try to share most is that you are NOT at the mercy of your doctor & pharmacy. You do NOT have to meekly accept whatever it is they are trying to give you. Ask good questions. Press them on why they want you to do or take this or that. Very important to present your message without emotion or sarcasm.

You are absolutely right. Yours is a very real problem that me, and surely many others have experienced.

I learned (the hard way) that my problem was not to do so much with Teva or Aurobindo or Sandoz, but with the correct dosage for me and my body.
When a M.D. prescribes
30mgs 2x's daily...that is simply their best educated guess for what your treatment requires.
It has been rare that the 30mg IR my doc prescribed is actually the correct dose for me.
It is nothing more than a starting point, from then on, it is MY responsibility to adjust up or down until I find it. And you will absolutely know when you find it...the correct milligrams for you and your body. It will feel like Adderall is supposed to feel, rather than a placebo or sugar pill.

My experience is that when I stopped chasing worthless information like inactive ingredients, binders, fillers and the like and focused on adjusting my dose up or down as little as 2.5mg, I eventually found the milligram that worked for me for every single generic Adderall manufacturer out there. And I have used Teva, Actavis, Sandoz, CorePharma, & Aurobindo.

Be your own advocate!

My philosophy regarding my medication and my treatment plan is that I take NOTHING on face value.
I do my due diligence and then present my arguments and findings in a professional, respectful manner and if like mine, your relationship with M.D.'s and pharmacists will dramatically improve.

That would be do to "TEVA USA" being a generic form of Adderall and not the namebrand. So I really hope you didn't have to pay more then what normal generics cost you.

I have been taking Adderall for almost 2 years now, and after very bad experiences over the past year with generics (including the Teva generic, which I had used initially), i switched to name brand Adderall 6 months ago with great results (effective and fewer side effects). After a change in insurance, this has been a problem, but in desperation, I paid out of pocket for name brand Adderall (Teva USA). It is not the same as before (which was only 4 months ago)

I suggest give CorePharma/Impax a month.
My experience taking Core has been unbelievably positive.
So...if you are where you say you are: not knowing who to go with next month I highly recommend CorePharma/Impax

I've been prescribed adderall for years. 60 mg a day, and have made researching an sifting through the facts a hobby.

(In simple terms) The main generics are pinks and oranges unless u have $ or insurance for name brand OR have varies other options which is risky with effectiveness these days...

Cor pharma pink adderall were horrible up until recently, these companies manufacturing are oversees, and they are always changing formulas without care or concern like there all the same.

Teva footballs used to be the #1 preferred until recently teva orange footballs & pink cor pharma SWITCHED in effectiveness.

I got a script of the footballs last month and it was the worst month of my life! Prior I was taking pinks. Not only do the footballs not work, but they make people feel sick like they're exhausted, yawning, aches...I made a complaint with the FDA.

Conclusion: the PINK adderall now, 11/2016 are the best ones if limited in options which most are, sandoz was amazing also ton of bad reports coming out. Stay far away from Mylan adderall an the one word company starts with M ends with T complete garbage...

I buy antacid calcium supplements taking 3,000mg 10-15 mins before dose increases absorption as i was curious, the antacid use wont show on a lab test even tho increased absorbtion. PLEASE PEOPLE MAKE COMPLAINTS WITH THE FDA. THERE'S POWER IN NUMBERS!!!

I felt the same way about CorePharma/Impax. "Stinky Pinkies" I've heard them called by a psychiatrist.

So needless to say, I wasn't thrilled when after searching the stores for which generic adderall manufacturer they had on hand, CorePharma/TevaBarr/Aurobindo were the only 3 available in my city.

I've tried both Teva & Aurobindo (both 20IR or 30IR). Mixed feelings on both.
So what the hell, if I go with Corepharma at least I will know if it's good/bad, side effects, etc.

This is my 13/14th month taking Adderall IR, and unequivocally I can say that from my experience, that all generic adderall are not the same, will not effect the body/mind the same, side effects or not the same...you get it.

So 15 days into Corepharma (30mg IR 2x's daily...Not only do I not hate it, I am very pleasantly surprised at what it's doing for my focus, completion of tasks, motivation, and even a nice come on that's almost euphoric.

I feel no need to take more than prescribed. I'm getting a good 5-6 hours from each dose.

Some Side effects are present...for me, muscle tension, some irritability, but nothing significant.

I do notice, and this is a very important tidbit about Corepharma, that through upping or lowering the dose, as little as 2.5mg makes a huge difference in how it performs.
For example, I took the 30mg as prescribed and quickly knew this wasn't it. I dropped it 5mg, to 25mg and the difference was shocking. Felt like that 1st month on Adderall...you know what mean...damn near perfection.

Conclusion: Give Corepharma/Impax a try, despite all the negative you have read about it. Most importantly, tweak the dose the first couple days and you will definitely feel it when you get the right dose.

Interesting debate. For my latest prescription, I asked my local hospital pharmacy (Boston MA) to order generic Adderall 20mg tablets (not extended release) manufactured by Sandoz (NDC: 00185-0853-01), and it arrived a couple of days later. What follows is my personal experience: Having tried Teva, Corepharma (made by Globalpharma, the generic division of Impax Labs.) and now Sandoz (for one week), I believe Sandoz to be the generic with the least side effects (slightly cold hands, some dry mouth, a little belly discomfort probably because I am still adjusting to the new generic). However, so far I can't really say that this product is working well enough. My ability to focus and pay attention for longer than a few minutes has not improved that much (I have adult attention disorder) and I do not feel as calm and attentive as I should be. Now Corepharma: I certainly experienced some serious side effects and little efficacy the first 10-12 days. However, soon after I found that this product started working very well. The palpitations stopped and I was able to focus and be calm (but alert), attentive, with an overall sense of relaxation but, at the same time, very productive and organized. In terms of side effects, all I experienced after the first 10-12 days are some dry mouth, cold hands and difficulty falling asleep (not always though), but I found these side effects not very bothersome overall. Now Teva: I found that with Teva generic Adderall (used it for 4 weeks) I experience the most side effects which do not seem to go away or become less bothersome. These are: palpitations, some dizziness, cold fingers and feet, slight nervousness, some difficulties taking deep breaths and a stiffed, painful neck). In terms of effectiveness, the Teva generic does a fairly good job even though it tends to agitate me a bit more (does not make me anxious thugh, only a little restless). So, overall, I am inclined to get Corepharma for my next refill unless my current Sandoz's supply improves in effectiveness in the next few weeks as my body adjust to the medication. I hope my experience is helpful to some of you. One thing I wanted to point out is that the first 10 days using Corepharma were quite bad in terms of side effects and I actually complained to my physician. Perhaps, when you want (or have) to use a different generic manufacturer, the trick is to manage the side effects for the first week or two and be patient until your body get used to the new medication. Good luck to you all.

Sandoz no longer makes generic adderall, it is made by shire, and doesn't work well at all, anyone have any suggestions.

One more thing....
So I read that Actavis recalled over 600,000 bottles of their generic dextroamphetamine back in the spring. Here's an excerpt:
According to the most recent FDA Enforcement Report, Actavis is voluntarily recalling 54 lots involving four different dose forms of dextroamphetamine saccharate, amphetamine aspartate, dextroamphetamine sulfate, and amphetamine sulfate tablets after they failed tests for impurity levels. The recall was initiated in February but was just classified by the FDA last week as a Class II recall. The nationwide includes 38,507 bottles of 5 mg tablets, 114,388 bottles of 10 mg tablets, 257,746 bottles 20 mg tablets and 182,378 bottles of 30 mg tablets.

I take the 15mg caps and some of them were recalled as well, according to FDA website, for failing dissolution standards.(failed to dissolve)
I'm not a chemistry or pharmacology major but I dumped one capsule in water and rubbing alcohol and one in lime juice. A week later neither had changed.

Just wanted to let you know!

The pharmacist at Walgreens ordered it, and actually got it in!! I'm talking about the old Barr(brown and clear capsule, 15mg, white beads).
She said to just let her know and she would do it for me each month, praise God!!!
I have narcolepsy and don't know what I would do.
Interesting and ridiculous side note. The Actavis brand generic distributed by Mayne was $425 without insurance.
The Barr(Teva) bran generic is, as of yesterday, $725.
There's obviously a big difference with these drugs!
Best of luck to you all.

Is the brand name still being made?

I have been able to get It from a small non chain pharmacy. They had it for awhile then gave me Teva for one month so I thought that was it for the Sandoz but my next refill they had the Sandoz back in stock. That is one thing that is great about a small pharmacy I had talked to the Main pharmacist and told him about the side effects I was getting so he went out of his way and ordered those for me. Just sucks nowadays there are very few of the gems left I actually have to drive 15 mins to go to that pharmacy.

Do NOT TRY CORPHARM brand. I got 30 mg ir from that manufacturer. They made me drowsy, irritable and depressed. I asked my pharmacy to order in sandoz brand but he claims it's whatever they have for the month in stock is what they can order. I dont really understand that. But please don't waist your time and prescription on that brand.

Dear Darizz, very interesting indeed! The same happened to me when I took Corepharma for the first 10 days or so; palpitation, sweating, headache ect. but then suddenly all these bad effects disappeared (go figured..). Where were you able to find Sandoz generic Adderall? I heard Sandoz may no longer produce it. They will initiate producing the extended release capsules from June 2016 after an agreement with Shire. Thanks for your help.
