Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 41)

Updated

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

Can someone help me out? My adderall is a 20mg, orange markings are b 973 on the other side is a 2/0. Could it be made by teva? My paperwork or bottle say nothing about it. I once picked it up at a different pharmacy I didn't like that one at all.. it also was a 20mg I remember it was white in color and the shape I believe was like a stop sign, I may have to change Pharmacy's due to insurance and I don't want to end up with the white one ever again so I want to know what I'm talking about when I ask them what brand they carry. Thx anyone who can help me much appreciated

Mallinckrodt I believe is the company you're talking about .I just picked up this prescription for the first time. The delivery is so different. Talk about a day to day of unexpected. This is what our whole pharmaceutical world has come down to. Disgusting. It tells me that adhd add narcolepsy or whatever off label it may be written for isnt taken seriously at all. Seriously by the pharmaceutical world.

The manufacturer is key. I cant remember which one,but i had an orange football shaped that was on the fat/ puffy side. This i liked. I have had the football shape flat , not so much. I honestly cant even keep track. Its about as inconsistent as my adhd.

I am sorry tpo hear this. This isn't uncommon. Talk with your dr. May i suggest keeping a daily log/ journal . I myself learned that i the medication is a tool. I needed to use this tool and figure how it may work for me. I split pills often and tried spreading it out. I tried on empty stomach. I tried to eat less sugars and sodas of any.i would drink a cup of coffee or tea. Then again it can be the darn manufacturers. Its easy to jump in when you hear many having the same difficulty. Just make sure you see for yourself. I know it is frustrating. You may need a different dose or a different medication. Its not uncommon to add or change. Dosing is huge. Good luck. Dierdre

I have these exact same pills, filled it 2 weeks ago. They are horrible and are giving me so much anxiety. My mouth is more dry than it has ever been, to the point that my tongue is swelling and I can't get it to go down regardless of how much water or ice I drink. My uvula in my throat is about twice as long as usual, very skinny, and is sitting on my tongue to the point that it feels like I am swallowing it. Every day I wake up with a horrible headache and my jaw is on fire from grinding all night. I am exhausted on these Teva pills and find I can't focus at all on my dosage. The pills seem to stop working within 2 hours and my legs start shaking uncontrollably....This doesn't happen with any other brand/generic, and this is the first time I've had Teva pills.

Am I able to swap these at a pharmacy? I can't keep taking these or I think m uvula will rip completely off my mouth and my teeth will rot from my desert mouth...

Hello, Sorry to hear this. I believe you may get many answers. From my own experience. My Dr is pretty good. I have seen him for 15 years. He is willing to give me another script to replace. I must have the remaining pills. So this hurdle i have jumped then i must have a pharmacist also approval. That's my second hurdle. Then finding the other brand with that pharmacist thats the 3rd hurdle. 4th hurdle will you pay out of pocket or try to get insurance to pay. Its like going to a boxing match. I would do a few phone calls first. Talk with a few pharmacists first. They will be the biggest obstacle. They may have the authority, but not want to touch this. Depending on any relationship you may have with them. Pharmacist have pull and can do things. Often they stick to the strict because its on them. Example. My Dr. Would write me a script if i had ever lost mt script. The pharmacy won't fill it because its early, even though my dr wrote it. My dr. Cant make them fill. My insurance wouldnt cover. THIS IS AN EXAMPLE. You just want replacement. It will cost no matter what. The worst case is they say no. Call your pharmacy and talk with the pharmacist. Ask then ask if you can find out the brands for future fillings. Some will discuss over the phone, but many won't because of their own security reasons of not wanting the wrong people knowing the pharmacy carries this. Hope this helped a bit. Peace & Soul.

Yes, I agree that the main ingredient - Dextroamphetamine-Amphetamine salts are altered, however, the inactive ingredients also affect the effectiveness of the medication and they are extremely different with each manufacturer. Bottom line is because we cannot afford the name brand Adderall (XR in my case), we have to try to find the best generic and request it each time.

Has anyone filled Sandoz recently and found it effective? I've been using Teva for the last few years and just got Sandoz for the first time this week. I find it doesn't work as well as the Teva I'm used to.

I have learned to talk to the pharmacist. Cashiers and pharmacy techs always gave me the cheapest of all my scripts. Would say they dont have what you want and cant order it. The pharmacist says we can order anything you want, just make sure your insurance pays. Be persistent and flat foot honest. Keeping a journal is good. I wrote a personal letter to my pharmacist, it's dangerous when meds change. Generic is not all the same. active ingredients and fillers, cant be the same. You may be allergic to the fillers. all the pills in a capsule is not all medication. It contains non active products (fillers). Do your homework. Know what you are taking.

Some of the comments here are quite frightening and very obviously from seekers. No, not all generics are the same. However if you find that multiple generics have no effect on you, then you've built up a tolerance to the medicine. Adderall is not meant for long term use, and Psychiatrists/Physicians that prescribe it to you for years are just profiting from you without concern for you wellbeing. 100 percent of long term daily Adderall users end up with Adrenal Fatigue, Depression, and often psychosis. Your body only has so much Dopamine it can release, and stimulating your receptors to release more and more Dopamine on a daily basis is a recipe for mental health issues.
I use Adderall myself, but only 3 days a week or sometimes less. I also do not plan on using it for more than a year or two.

Re: Viking104 (# 812) Expand Referenced Message

Nobody can argue that different fillers and % of active ingredients won't give a different delivery. This is a fact. Then consider ones diet. Food can play a role in this as well. As it can with any med. No two people are the same.

Re: Viking104 (# 812) Expand Referenced Message

Sorry, but that's false. Adderall IS prescribed for long-term use. Doctors recommend taking "holidays" from the medication to avoid tolerance. Also, your claim that "100% of adderall users end up with adrenal fatigue" is false and unproven. Why? Because I've been taking it for 15 years without those side effects. Yes, most of the people on these sites are "seekers." But stimulant medications are the most effective treatment for ADD and ADHD. If you had either of those, you'd know that.

Ryan (# 804) --

Your restless leg issue screams that this Adderall has no amphetamine in it. We ADHD people are low in dopamine in certain parts of the brain, as are non-Adhd restless legs sufferers. The restless legs are a horrible feeling and also indicative of low dopamine. Therefore, the generic Adderall you have is counterfeit--it not only doesn't boost your dopamine to help ADHD symptoms, but actually seems to have some crap in it that LOWERS dopamine, therefore causing that awful RLS.

Yes, you are exactly right. And to the tool up thread calling us "seekers" for wanting our medication to work: Congratulations, you are incapable of critical thought and have been successfully programmed to believe anything someone more powerful than you tells you, rather than trusting your own perceptions.

Many generic manufacturers have been cited by the FDA (during the rare times the FDA makes a visit to their overseas labs) for not using the correct active ingredient AT ALL or using harmful fillers. It is not as if the FDA monitors all the pills coming in to U.S. pharmacies by generic manufacturers. At the same time, the DEA would prefer that no amphetamine at all be present in our meds. Since IR amphetamine is no longer patent protected, there is no opposing interest (i.e. $$$$$) that aligns with the ADHD/narcolepsy patients' interests in receiving the correct medication in terms of both quality and quantity. Given this situation, it is a wonder that anyone receives a good generic ADHD medication anymore.

You would think that the public would be aligned in fighting against crappy schedule 2 and 3 generic drugs. Even if they don't take them now, they could be diagnosed with an extremely painful condition tomorrow and need to take correctly manufactured drugs they formerly demonized, therefore becoming the same people they call "seekers" and "addicts" today. But most people are more concerned with pointing the finger at someone they deem lesser than themselves than having empathy, or even critical thinking skills, common sense, or foresight.

It also bears mentioning that years ago, looking for a doctor who saw you as the pilot of your own body, with them as the copilot, instead of you being a passive obedient walking ATM was common sense. Now it's called "doctor shopping" and it will be put on your "permanent record" (just like in school!). Refusing to pay for and use a certain generic that you know is pointless or hazardous to your body and requesting the manufacturer that works was just common sense, too. Now it's called "pharmacy shopping" and off to the principal's office with you! Meanwhile, we pay hundreds or even thousands per month to health insurance companies for this privilege.

Don't buy generic if you can afford not to. Only patronize the doctors and pharmacies that recognize you as the sole owner of your body rather than using dogwhistles like "--- shopper", "it's in your head", or even "addict" to shame you into tolerating subpar pain control, symptom reduction, or increased side effects. They don't live in your body, only you do.

Does anyone else get extreme buzzing or goosebump feelings using teva generic? I never get this feeling on sandoz. At the same time could sleep deprivation cause problems with Adderall? I am close to switching to XR... so tired of IR.

Re: Charlene (# 801) Expand Referenced Message

What you are looking for is the Adderall IR, 20 mg generic Adderall manufactured by Teva. I thought it didn't work either but then I tried something different. I tried cutting back my dose of 30mg 2 times a day to once. Was not very effective at all (So I thought). I soon realized that the symptoms I had were from the meds being VERY effective. These symptoms are profuse sweating (extreme sweating), headaches, anxiety and feeling like my mind was running in circles. I do believe Teva generic for Adderall IR 30 mg are a good generic. I think we don't realize that they are working but differently than the name brand and I usually get by on one pill/day. If I need extra, I have the option of taking 1/2 to a full 2nd pill but very rarely.

I must agree, Teva has improved in quality
in the last six months.

No doubt for a period of time they were horrible, but in my opinion, they have improved very recently

Sadly that's exactly what you're doing. Seeking. Hopefully physicians see what your real purpose is and don't prescribe you anymore.
