Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Updated

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

Shire sold its Barr version of adderall to Teva pharma located in Isreal. The Teva brand is absolute worthless. the fillers used are sub par. Walgreen's and the larger pharmacy's explicitly use Teva for larger profit margin without regard to patient benefit the fda is aware of this awful generic and allow this to continue. copharma mallicrit and other generics are all manufactured in middle east as well. People have to speak out against this wrongful act.

I guess this is my "final" follow up on my bad experience. Got the letter from Teva/Actavis. They tested batch and found nothing outside of the norm. It has to be a lie. My experience makes zero sense if their claim is valid. Hoping the fda does their own testing. I've updated my complaint with the fda with their info and my experiences, hopefully it throws a red flag to check themselves.

Amen en Amen!...this must stop. Those of us who take this medication for intended use are being thrown under the bus by White Collar Greed!! It has become dagerous for people who need this medication for intended use to accept the Teva generic as it provides no effective control for indicated use. The FDA does nothing??? This writer has filed 6 med watch to the FDA over the past 8 months.....some fella called me from Teva...his English was so broken that another worker had to interpret for him...no refund available???...however I was told Teva would file and keep my report on file...are you kidding me...this is my life ....it ain't no joke!!....yep just filled another useless order at Walgreens and they will not refund my money either??....hello FDA...is anybody home??.:::I don't know what to do. Accepting suggestions...maybe we need to form some type of unified group sense the FDA doesn't help with this trafficking off sub-par medications by Walgreens, CVS, Walmart....Teva...it's getting to be the only generic around St Pete, FL ????...Happy St Paddy's

It is Ridiculous!! It’s like taking nothing at all! I take Adderall for Chronic Fatigue (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) & needless to say I’ve been suffering needlessly because drug companies are NOT doing what they are suppose to do to help people with their health issues!!

On 2-7-2018 I purchased Teva's 10 mg IR at Wal-Mart and it's not even close to being correct.

HERE IS PRECISELY HOW I KNOW THIS:

1. After being off all meds for 2 years, and this being my first attempt to get back on the medicine....I can not even feel this medication. Only headaches.

2. So, out of curiosity, I dug out my old "left over" Adderall 10mg IR and... they work just fine. They are a different brand though.

3. So... the takeaway is that 2 year old Adderall by a DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER is much, much, better than brand new Teva. This speaks volumes. TEVA IS USELESS.

4. I remember having this exact same problem with Teva in the past. That is why I grew suspicious and dug out my old bottle of the other brand. Just to check the label. Bingo! Not TEVA.

5. I HAD BEEN DOWN THIS EXACT SAME ROAD WITH TEVA WHEN I TOOK THIS MEDICINE BEFORE... AND HAD TO HAVE MY PHARMACIST ORDERING THE OTHER BRAND, MONTHLY.

6. I think they...TEVA... figure with your "attention deficit"...that you are extremely unlikely to check the manufacturer of the product...until after it is purchased...AND THUS...when you discover that it simply isn't working.

7. NEVER AGAIN TEVA.....NEVER EVER. SHAME ON YOU TEVA.

Re: Steve (# 587) Expand Referenced Message

True, Steve, this "Drug Seeking Behavior" BS is a scare tactic. There's no doubt in my mind I've been flagged several times by insecure, power abusing pharmacists for reasons unrelated to being their perceived "junky narcotic seeker." One at a nearby Walgreens would not honor a Shire Pharmaceuticals Vyvanse $15 copay coupon my doc gave me to chisel down the usual 50 bucks it runs me for that trash. He claimed I was on Medicaid so I must pay full copay. Hang on... WHAT?! I pay way to much for private insurance! Not on Medicaid. And, who has $50 copay on medicaid? Seems a bit too much for someone without an income. So I gave him my insurance card for proof. His response - "Nope is my decision."

He was 100% wrong and I simply had to tell him that in a few words... So, I get flagged for drug seeking. It was more like seeking to legitimately save a few bucks on my overpriced, legally prescribed Drugs while being treated like dirt by some young punk, who disrespects his elders regularly. Can I "flag" him for being lazy, judgemental, and incompetent? Nope, because the narcotic hysteria lawmakers have given him a license to judge, ridicule, and "attempt" to frighten legitimate patients by using our scripts as leverage. Well, I will not back down to ignorant arrogance, so I really let him have it loudly enough for the next ten potentia l victims of his stereotyping to clearly hear my words. It was refreshing for everyone but "Pharma-Cop" himself. Even his technicians were cracking smiles. So, that was the end of Walgreens (and Vyvanse) for me. Back on Adderall which is less hassle, cheaper and, in my opinion, better. Next time my lawyer's getting a call. Sorry for the rant...This crap is frustrating and unjust.

....And you just watch...within the next few months your Teva will work well, again. Then, a few months later, after they have you thinking that they have fixed the problem (but doubting your experience and/or yourself) and that no one is paying attention anymore...BAM, they will once again go back to making it suck, again. I noticed this pattern several years back with this company (TEVA).

Isn't that the pattern that the street dealers, use? "Cutting" their drugs? Reducing its effectiveness, creating more drug to sell by adding filler, and profiting further from the sale of their crappy drug. Never giving refunds for their defective drugs. Must have taken it right from the dealer's handbook... Except, Teva bribes government officials to get drug approvals. Look it up.

They were struck with a hefty fine for bribing those officials. Maybe that is why they are "cutting" all of their drugs....to reap more profit, so they can pay those fines. Lack of integrity seems to be pervasive throughout this company. "Stealing from Peter (the consumer) to pay Paul (the bribes and fines)". Teva...get lost.

For those with advanced knowledge in psychopharmacology or organic chemistry: what adulterants, contaminants, precursors, fillers, or "anti-abuse materials" (that as Bellflower posted, was the ultimate goal mentioned in a patent filed in India riiiight around the time generic Adderall became ineffective, bizarre side-effect laden crap, with Indian manufacturers popping up like dandelions) could:

1. Render Adderall ineffective for ADHD symptoms (probably by interfering with amphetamine's effects on dopamine release, inhibiting re-uptake, and barring agonist effects on TAAR1 and dopamine release via VMAT2).

2. Produce water retention, extreme hunger during the DURATION of the drug's effects, leaden fatigue, and weight gain?

3. Can cause irritation of the upper GI tract?

These are the three most common reactions to generic "Adderall" I have surmised, through extensive perusal of this thread, other threads on MedsChat, and similar posts on other ADHD boards.

This is not just an instance of there being less active ingredient in generic Adderall, or isolated incidents of patients reacting poorly to a relatively harmless filler present in one or more generics.

There may be nothing any of us can do about it, but I would at least like to learn what substances could create the current state of generic Adderall. Knowledge may not be power in this type of situation, but it at least is comfort.

Hypothetically speaking, scientists of Medschat, what could be going on?

Yes! There is something going on with stimulant medications. Please tell the FDA and your state and national representatives and senators.

Maybe we should all pool our money, hire a chemist, have tests run on all our s****y scripts. Then hire a lawyer and sue the s*** out of teva, elite, and the FDA for fraud, negligence, and reckless endangerment. Or whatever charges said lawyers see fit.

Seriously, it's gonna have to be civilian legal action. The FDA isn’t gonna do s***. They’re part of the criminal system that enables big pharma to be drug dealers who cut their products.

Hey, I am having the same problem as well as a lot of others that I’ve seen doing a google search. I think it’s a big problem and something is going wrong at the manufacturer by chance. I switched to another manufacturer and BAM, the medication started working again. I have NO doubt that there is 100% something wrong with the Adderall generic, DextroAmphetamine Salt Combo, made by TEVA.

I had issues with the 15MG, while a friend had issues with the 30MG. And I see you are having issues with the 20MG. There is something wrong with their formula that needs investigation because my life has been compromised since this started (in April for me).

Will you be willing to work together to get this issue fixed? Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks!!

I have found that the post"backorder" generis Adderall by Teva are ineffective. I first took the 20mg in August. They did not work at all. I tried the 30 mg in September. They were a lute better but not enough to overcome my executive dysfunction or get me out of my house. I took the brand name for 18 years then they became too expensive so I had to switch to generic. Doctor upped my dose from 50mg IR daily to 60 mg daily. In 2021 I was given Lannett and they were adequate. I have had nothing but trouble in 2022. Mallinkrodt, then Camber which not only did not work but made me sick. Searching for a pharmacy that would take a new Adderall customer was difficult but I found one who had the Teva only to be greatly disappointed. Something is not right

I have reported to the manufacturer TEVA in NJ and filed a QUALITY CONTROL REPORT. TEVA lied about altering or changing the formula in any way, [TEVA bought-out BARR pharma], I was on BARR for 13 years with great success. I called both NYS Assemblyman and Senators office and was told by a Representative that "Maybe we can create legislation so that SOME PEOPLE can get PURER meds. I FAXED Ulster Co Deputy of mental health Amy McCracen and NYS Commissioner Ann Marie T. Sullivan, I was basically told she would help but the HIPPA is too complex and gave me a link to FDA. I've tried 30 plus name brand Zendeedi for both Dextroampthetamine Sulfate and Adderals and have HEAVY METAL POISONING, nothing but new high blood pressure, edma, head-aches, weight gain of 30 #s w/o reason. When I have contacted the FDA they never sent the forms. I contacted the NIH, they all say go to FDA. RESEARCH tells me the FDA already approved HEAVY METALS. Google-In TEVA and TRIOXIDE, ARSENIC, CEPHALON, CADMIUM. But begin with "just" TEVA and ARSENIC and page after page will come-up. I am finding the most powerful LAWYER I can as all parts of GOV and NON-PROFITS that are supposed to help wont because they get paid by the GOV. It's illegal for a pharmacist to examine the drug, [3 pharmacists told me], also a public law was passed that THE ACTIVE INGREDIENT IN ALL DRUGS CAN BE UP-TO 40 % less of the active ingredient. This is a crime, unethical, and deadly. You may want to get a heavy metals diagnostic as it stays in the body and does damage. I think DOCTORS and Members of Congress with ADHD get the real thing. I believe people on Medicare and Medicaid receive the FAKE AND TOXIC garbage while the Drug companies are getting rich off increasing health care costs and Killing people. The new philosophy seems to be that people with chronic illness both pain and brain [ADHD] are all ADDICTS. Except the very rich, they own the companies.

I too have taken Teva brand Adderall for almost 10 years now, and am very self aware of the level of effectiveness I experience taking it. I too have noticed a very sharp drop in the active ingredient in Teva brand instant release 20 mg tablet, which led me in seeking answers on this site.

I have tried to Tev / Barr, Corepharma, Sandoz & Mallinckodt for Adderall IR

There IS a difference. Teva is profoundly more potent

. Corepharma seems about 15-20% weaker.
(About the same as Sandoz)

WARNING: The Mallinckodt brand has something profoundly wrong with it--no efficacy at all.
I submitted a report online to the FDA regarding this company… That is how compelled I felt

Here's the thing. I'm a nurse, ive researched everything up to date about generic amphetamine salt combo as i have been taking this medication for over 17 years. I have been the ringer of generics and honestly the FDA does a horrible horrible job on maintaining their regulations to oversee or fail to understand drug compounds and how inactive ingredients and binders vary from manufacture to manufacture and the reason some generics work better or worse depends on the patient because yes, the drug must have the same route, dose, bioequivalence, clinical equivalence, In order for the FDA to approve a generic drug. The 90% confidence intervals (CIs) for generic drug levels must be between 80%-125% for AUC (area under the time-concentration curve) and Cmax (peak plasma concentration) of the reference (branded) drug. This does NOT mean that concentrations of the branded and generic drug differ by 20% as i have seen many post that number so please research before you post bull s*** that people believe because well why wouldnt they when you pretend to sound like an expert. If drug concentrations differ by about 10%, the CIs will fall outside of range and will not be able to go on until it falls under 10 percent. with all the excipients of a generic color coat, fillers, binders aka inactive differ and some patients have an intolerance or allergy to one of the excipients in a generic, therefore counter act and the drug will not work well FOR EXAMPLE IF YOU HAVE A LACTOSE INTOLERANCE GUESS WHAT ONE OF THE INACTIVE BINDERS IS? LACTOSE!! the fact that this is not considered a significant factor to inform patients about is unacceptable and out of date with modern day regulation and FDA needs to do their job so that every generic is the same or has this info provided to patients and give them an alternative generic to choose from.. im sick of constantly being anxious to go to my pharmacy and without warning decide to start buying from different manufacture and act like this shouldnt matter. CVS has changed it four times since i have started taking it. thats why my doc has to specify the manufacture on my prescription and by law the pharm has to order from that manufacturer but it take days to get it. screwing me over. and when a pharmacy carries the same manufacturer for years then one day just decides to change that and doesnt inform you as a patient ..is bulls*** and should inform their patients of changes so that if necessary, can drop off a script early so that its ready for me by the time i need it...

Stacy, "knocking the Monday off him"...... I love it! You may call 1-800-FDA-1088 AND TEVA at 1-888-838-2872. ext. 1007365. I got the FDA # off of the paper the pharmacy staples to the prescription bag, and I got the TEVA # in an email sent to me from consumer relations in response to my initial complaint.

I would urge everyone to SPEAK UP, call or go online, to these companies. It's the only way our complaints may make a difference. If all we do is complain to each other, nothing changes. Good Luck!

Re: Jeff (# 501) Expand Referenced Message

Jeff, I am right there with you. I have been on the Adderall 30s for over ten years. I literally thought I was going crazy. This JUST HAPPENED last night. After I took the 30mg about 20-30min after I swallowed the pill I felt nauseous, I couldn't hold my head up, I literally fell asleep for an hour and a half. I took another 30mg, the same way...the same exact thing happened. I took the first one at 7:30pm. At 3:00am I woke up and felt just a small amount of the 2 that I had taken at 7:30pm and the second one at 9:00pm. I DO NOT FEEL FOCUSED AT ALL! I was questioning if they were even REAL and they came from Walgreens. After finding this forum I began researching and found the following information: FDA 888-INFO-FDA (888-463-6332). Most states have their own Consumer Coordinator and can be found at FDA.gov. You can also find the 3500 form that is mentioned in one of the other complaints. I encourage each and every one of you (us) to contact them with a verbal as well as a written complaint. There is no telling what we are consuming with the state of mind our country is in right now....It's scary!
