Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 37)

Updated

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

Re: GodIzGood (# 720) Expand Referenced Message

It doesn’t mean Ashley is addicted. It does mean that, for an individual with ADHD, life without the proper medication is difficult. One goes from a daily routine of accomplishing ones tasks one by one to being almost overwhelmed by ALL the tasks that need to be accomplished. Because everything cannot be done at once it results in extreme procrastination with the result that nothing gets done. It is pretty depressing when you can get nothing done. I call it the “sink full of dishes” syndrome.

You look at the dishes to be washed and you don’t know where to begin. Intellectually you know you just clean them one by one but with ADD it looks like an overwhelming task. It really does take a supreme effort of willpower to simply do the dishes - plus the lawn has to be mown, the laundry needs doing and the bills need to be paid. Oh, and what about weeding the backyard, and the car needs an oil change and when’s the inspection due? I should really clean the kitchen of course! That’s ADHD for me - and I’m in my sixties. (Of course I have ADD - I’m too old for the “H” part!!)

That’s just normal life until you’re diagnosed and get the right meds. If you don't get the meds for whatever reason going back to your old “normal” is pretty damned depressing.

So it’s not addictive withdrawal symptoms we’re talking about it’s the sudden inability to conduct your life as you know you can. Telling anyone to stop taking any prescribed medication is a very dangerous thing. I hope this helps you better understand the nature of ADHD.

What you guys all need to know that Teva is the manufacture of Adderall brand name, and at the same time Teva also manufactures generic Adderall version.

In my opinion there is a clear conflict of interest here, and I believe that this is the main reason why the generic Adderall by Teva do not work.

The fact that there is always a shortage of Adderall generic version, I believe Teva are hopping that we will eventually buy the brand name Adderall instead of the generic version and pay a fortune for the brand name. “This is unfair practice”

We should all put pressure on the FDA to investigate Teva generic Adderall and stop this useless drug from being sold in the USA.

Re: BobH (# 713) Expand Referenced Message

TEVA IS A TERRIBLY UNRELIABLE PHARM COMPANY. READ MY PAST POSTING ABOUT TEVA AND GENERICS IN GENERAL. I’ve been taking generics for 30 plus years and TEVA has never, ever worked for me! I’m prescribed a different generic and it works like it should. Again, generics are not FDA tested and not required to do so. However, generics are required to be plus or minus 10% efficacy of the “name brand” medication to be on the generic list of alternative meds for the name brand. These shifty Parm companies are all snakes in the grass. Over the years, especially of late I notice that potency varies for even the best stand by generics. I tout Watson as the best generic for Fiorinal 3 but lately take two together to get same effect (relief). This is BS. BUT ITS TRUE. It's the same thing lately. I work at the #1/2 major heart center in the US- second to Mayo and know my field (25 years). I’m an in-house regulator of many drugs and procedures and work closely with the FDA inspectors. Wow, do they have some interesting stories to tell about “off shore” manufacturing! Whether it’s meds or latex gloves made in Malaysia or blood filters for immune compromised patients, the s*** stories are incredible to hear! A pathetic commentary on the medical supply industry-generic drugs in particular. Vey lacks controls in a. Life or death industry. They have and always have had profits dictating their ethics. The pharm companies are bought, sold, division of, distributed by change hands on a regular basis. As a consumer or even a pharmacist it is almost impossible to get an answer as to who owns who of late and even if the pill your getting has the potency they claim.

I believe the FDA is so heavily lobbied by these manufacturers that our Congress gets snowed by them at all levels. The latest smokescreen is the illegal street drug crisis. Who pays the cost? Us consumers because we, who are legitimate prescription holders are not considered. The street drugs will always be there no matter what but we (you and me) will pay the price. Most all our generics are mfg in 3rd world markets and do really think the guy or woman running the pill machine, or there boss could care if the drug is consistent from lot to lot? No way. What’s their incentive to even produce a consistent lot of a pill. Yup, this isn’t as much me as it is the FDA inspectors telling me these stories while drinking coffee/downtime during their annual inspections. Sorry for too much info but my latest refill is C minus and I’m frustrated. Who do you turn to? As the population ages the pharmaceutical oligarchy (and it is), will keep giving all of us a sub- par product. This generic thing is a pathetic scam. The tip of the iceberg in the world of healthcare. I have no axe to grind and just talking facts, which most of you already know. The only thing that has helped the consumer regarding all this stupid nonsense are Rx savings cards. At least now we can see the range of pricing from vendor to vendor. Even this price comparison is so ridiculous from the various pharmacies. Come on, as an example how is it that one place will charge 15$ for a med and the other place down the street will charge 65$ for the same generic?

Re: Tim (# 723) Expand Referenced Message

I so share your outrage Tim. First the hit and miss efficacy of the drugs we are prescribed. Second, that the FDA is unwilling or unable to provide adequate testing and QA. Third, that this is the result of political will due to the power of the Big Pharma lobby.

Sadly, I have no confidence whatsoever that this will be addressed in my, (shortened!!) lifetime. Unless proper testing protocols are required, independently confirmed and randomly checked; and until the penalties for drug fraud are immediate and permanent removal of the company from the market, the consistency of prescribed pharmaceuticals will remain the same “crap shoot” as illegal street drugs.

Pharma is dirty and the FDA is dirty. I've had 5 different generics, all affected me differently and with different side effects. I just got a new one from aurobindo and it's the worst yet. I have an awful migraine. I feel like I was poisoned.

I thought it was just me I'm glad to know that it's not. 100% correct it's b******* they're not working they were working all of a sudden in the last 6 months nothing I could take one and go to sleep this does need to be looked into

I actually have Narcolepsy, and Adderall manages my excessive need for uncontrollable sleep. :)

I went from perfectly functional, to dozing off at work, while driving, unable to focus on any daily tasks, on top of “withdrawal” symptoms such as headaches and nausea. I could tell immediately that my “medication” had no actual medication in it. When you take an amphetamine based medication for long-term treatment, you don’t just go from being completely medicated to zero medicated and not experience these effects. Hence, withdrawals.

I respond perfectly to aurobindo Adderall. No side effects. I function again. My pharmacist works with me to make sure I don’t take a medication that has me falling asleep during dangerous times.

Re: Kelly (# 725) Expand Referenced Message

You're clearly a drug seeker and/or Methamphetamine addict. Yes, there are some generics that aren't as potent as others. But what you're looking for is the euphoria that you experienced when first taking Adderall, and that's not coming back no matter which generic you try. Maybe you need to be switched over to Desoxyn or take a year off to detox and enter rehab.

Kelly, you're looking to feel high and that's not what Adderall is for. Please look in to entering a rehabilitation facility and seek help for your anger and anxiety.

I think the window is less than 20%. It is 10% above the mark or 10% below. Also the base stuff that makes up most of the pill can be very different in one company vs another company.

Sandoz suddenly not working this month. I notice once a year for last 6 years Sandoz goes mia (backorder) due to missing an ingredient. This year instead of backorder I believe I was given a sandoz Placebo script. Going tocontact them this afternoon by phone as well as the fda

FDA....Same thing happened to me this month with sandoz. I believe once a year they pull an experiment. In prior years sandoz wld be on backorder due to "waiting on an ingredient" I think they just wanna see how many folks notice the difference. Btw sandoz refused to give me a refund

Tim (# 710)

For several years now people have complained about the inconsistent quality that companies like TEVA in particular are manufacturing. I am worn out on the variation of side effects that change month to month. One out of every 4 or 5 prescriptions actually being effective and having therapeutic benefits. Obvious signs of active and inactive ingredients being unregulated per batch from the same manufacturer. Etc....

In my research online, I see several years of complaints about the same companies, the same problems and everything I read reflects a decrease of quality from these manufacturers despite complaints and reports to the companies themselves and to the FDA. Being that you work in the health industry do you have any suggestions or advice on how we as consumers and patients can raise awareness to this issue and put a stop to it? I cannot for the life of me understand why the US government, FDA, DEA, etc. do not regulate and control the manufacturers of generic prescription medications. At what point does the treatment and well being of the patient, the lifeblood for these companies and the medical providers become important and a priority? If there were no patients there would be no pharmaceutical companies. Do you have any suggestions or advice?

Drug addict? I take 10 mg's for ADHD. My concern is the bizarre side effects between generics. You are very ill mannered.

Same situation here. I started these Teva brand 20 mg about four days ago and I’ve felt depressed and annoyed. I’m not like I was before this blue brand. I hate it.

Here is how it works: when a generic company decides it would like to supply a brand new medication, they conduct studies on a —-very small—group of people.

(Poor external validity)

The specific results of these tests are not made available to the public, only to the FDA.

The FDA must take “the word” of the generic company in terms of the validity of their testing

Once a generic company is approved, oversight by the FDA to ensure bioequivalency is very rare

I find this profoundly disturbing

Re: BobH (# 724) Expand Referenced Message

I am also experiencing major issues with my adderall this month. Every time I take it I feel like crap I want to sleep like I’ve been drugged and mood swings. I have taken the same brand Teva (Barr) for 12 years and this isn’t the first time that this has happened. I know it’s a bad batch because the when I start the next months script everything goes back to normal. I am extremely angry because contrary to what some believe adderall actually helps me sleep and have a healthy appetite along with helping my ADD unfortantly with the current medication not only are my ADD symptoms worse and I feel like crap I can’t sleep and feel sick when I eat. So it really makes daily life difficult and I would like to know what it is I’m putting in my body. So I would love to know where to file a complaint.

Re: Mandydburson (# 737) Expand Referenced Message

I have been complaining about the same issue to my doc for awhile now, and he said that I am not alone, and he hears that from a lot of patients. Some months the TEVA (peach, 30mg) work "right on" and some months they are "duds" and immediately make me sleepy and lethargic and spacey and give me a car sick feeling (if that makes sense). Seriously, the duds make me want to go right back to bed. It is a batch deal, because the effects can change drastically with a new batch, not because of anything I am doing or not doing.

I kept some from each month to compare, and the colors are very slightly different and so is the taste.

I used to get generics at Walmart who listed BARR as the manufacturer. They were a darker color and too potent - brought on some aggressiveness. Then I started getting them at Walgreens - a little lighter in color and listed as TEVA manufacturer. But those vary from month to month. I am always a little frantic when I realize I have a dud month. (I thought BARR and TEVA were the same, but maybe not?)

If they are "right on", I typically have a few left at the end of the month, because I don't need them as much to get through my day AND night classes - typically I'm good if I do the regular day schedule - and one a day of the "right on" works fine on weekends. If they are duds, however, I'll run out way ahead of schedule because I need an extra to get through the longer hours, and I'm falling asleep on weekends if I take one a day. It shouldn't be that way.

I also notice that I am not as able to write during the dud months, even though I love to write and do so quite a bit for work. It just feels too confusing and hard. During the right on months, I'm fine and everything flows.

It took me a long time to figure out it was the medicine and not me. Man, I miss the real Adderall. No generic has ever worked as well or as consistently (and I've taken some different ones in last 10 years)
