Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 29)
UpdatedI have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?
Teva is in this for profit. Lets be honest here. Teva is deciding whether or not to make this medicine effective...based upon Teva's profits. If Teva wishes to make changes to the product...it is due to Teva wishing to make more...profit. The thing is that this particular mixture of chemical is not only ineffective, but it is also having a negative affect on our health. I mean cutting the percentage of the most effective chemical in this drug and adding more fillers in order for them to have RECORD profits is one thing. However, Teva, it would seem, is not content with simply watering down their drug. Teva seems to me "monkeying around" with the Dexa- side of this drug, also. Thereby, giving those of us who take this drug, a terrible negative effect.
Seriously, do you think that the FDA is going to do anything? They might, in the worst cases, impose a fine. However, by the time Teva unloads all their "altered" drugs, their profit margin far outweighs any cost of sanctioning. AND... life goes on, as they say. A fair and open market is what keeps a company striving to maintain the quality of its product. Teva has been buying up its competition, and when they can not buy up the remaining competition...they enter into contracts with them.
The companies, and their collaborations, are controlling the quality of your medicine. It does not stop there, though. This kind of behavior is now pervasive throughout the health care industry.
Do not be confused. Something HAS CHANGED. Not only in the quality of the medication that you receive, but in the quality of the health care industry, overall. In my opinion, one only need to thank "obamacare" for these changes. And before you insinuate that I have a political bias or a "racist" bias, let me say that I despise all modern politicians. None take the job to "serve" the people. Instead, they take the position for the profit (power) potential of that position...but for that, they would not be in politics. YOU MUST AT LEAST FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE FDA. It is likely the only voice you have, no matter how demure.
Re: km (# 548)
I had no idea those were the CorePharma ones, that I never trued.
I kept looking up reviews on Impax 20 IR, but could barely find anything and believe me I searched. Almost every page had info about the XR's.
Maybe I'll get lucky another day!!
Re: Steve (# 561)
Hi
I just filled my monthly script and NO PHARMACY in San Antonio has any other than Teva.
Its literally the ONLY game in town...
I know these are NEW Teva shipments/ orders as my usual pharmacy either cannot get Aurobindo or they have dropped them as they only have Teva now...which they never had in past.
Same old story....They seem OK but weak with same symptom's othe'sr have reported.
It appears there is a huge backlog/shortage of the 30 MG from all generics except Teva...hmm.
Good Luck.
Re: Hamster (# 563)
if you have insurance see if they have a home delivery pharmacy
Re: jp (# 564)
Hi - Yes, have Express Scripts but they now do not cover the Adderall IR brand now in 2018 (by TEVA Select). I was getting those for $100 for 60- now $450 for 60! )and only distribute good, ole Teva sugar pills as generics..surprise, surprise. May go back on the Adderall XR train as its getting slim pickings! Thanks.
Re: Gem (# 553)
I’ve been taking generic Adderall for 7 years 30 mg twice daily. Teva used to work without side effects, last month received Sandoz and that worked really well. CorP was crap. Mylar okay, just not smooth transition when med wearing off. Picked up my Rx on Sat. and it was Teva bc not enough Sandoz in stock. The pills are thicker than before. For the last 2 days, I’ve had a pounding heart, can hear my heartbeat in my ears, blurry vision, nausea, anxiety, and a severe headache with the onset about one hour after taking the Teva. My BP spiked to 175/100 and it’s normally 130/70. On top of those symptoms, the medication efficacy is terrible and leaving me unable to focus. Clearly, Teva, your new modification on manufacturing is leaving many of us with terrible side effects and no symptom control.
I am a RN and need my ADHD symptoms adequately controlled. I used to take Vyvanse and that worked well, but didn’t last for 12 hours so my doc added 10 mg Adderall in evening. The short acting gave me better control to adjust with my work hours and less costly, but the ups and downs of getting a generic that actually works (now that Sandoz will no longer be manufactured) leaves me no choice, but to ask to go back on Vyvanse. At least a portion of the day, symptoms will be managed, but my doctor won’t do it before this 30 day Rx is up. I did submit complaint to FDA.
Re: Hamster (# 563)
Ugh. This sucks. Teva is medium rank, but i would much rather prefer teva over malinkroft or the aurobindo.. i personally never have tried aurobindo, after googling the name & seeing so many terrible reviews. I closely dodged wasting money on aurobindo. I think it has alot more neg reviews than even Malinkroft and all malinkroft did was give me intense migraines after ten days, i stopped taking them. Migraines, is all that it did. I couldn't focus.. it made me more scatterbrained than i am.. Even naturally. :(
Re: Nell (# 560)
Hey. I think you are right. I've seen an improvement then it will go down like a rollercoaster. I dont kmow if it really depends how fresh the batch is or not. Its like playing poker. You never know the outcome! Sucks we have to go with an entire month ruined to these pharmaceuticals companies not being consistent
Re: eggspert (# 567)
It all depends on the individual...auro is the only one that I can take at this point. I thought I had the flu from Teva but the crazy anxiety and depression is what really affected me. I feel great with auro. My only issue with taking these meds is the urge to smoke. Out of curiosity, does anyone else here feel the desire for a smoke after taking your first dose? How do you cope with it?
If you will scroll down you can read my previous post about my initial experience with TEVA. Okay, my insurance company is involved in this and so is my doctor. I have not been on any medication for about 2 years. When I quit generic adderall (BARR), it was working just fine. I simply wanted to try going without them, to see if my memory and focus would remain intact. I only took medicine for about 18 months, total. I had tried TEVA in those 18 months and they did not work the same. I can only describe it as a "flat" feeling and it also seemed to leave me feeling worse than if I had not taken them at all. If you have read my posts from about a week ago you will see that I had complained about the current TEVA 10mg ir tablets.
My insurance company insisted I try the same brand and switch tablet strength. Thereby taking the exact same dosage but only using a different strength, to achieve that same total-daily dosage of 30 mg. Before, I took 3, 10 mg ir, and now 2, 15 mg ir daily. This was an attempt to find out if the particular tablets were to blame or if TEVA, overall, is to blame.
I have now taken the TEVA 15 mg ir for 4 days. I can tell you that they are different. The headaches are mostly gone. The flu like symptoms are mostly gone.....It does not feel like a took cold medicine...But...these 15 mg ir tablets are simply a more potent version of "the dud effect". They do not bolster ones focus at all. They simply attempt to "speed" you up (physically), but give you absolutely no cognitive benefits. Conversely, they seem to cause a "zoning out" effect, cognitively, even before you reach a set, prescribed dose. Meaning, unlike my past experiences with adderall, these seem more like a very cheap impostor. A failed attempt at making adderall.
There you go TEVA,...the lab mice have figured it out. Your product is a failure. Now TEVA, go watch your stock prices and let us know if scrimping on ingredients in your generic line is worth it. I mean it has been a record year for generics, with record profits reported. NOW WE KNOW HOW THAT PROFIT HAPPENS. TEVA bought a company that was putting out a good product (BARR), and slowly transition its product to the exact same crap product that you (TEVA) were making previously.
They absorbed their competition and skated on that companies success (BARR name) for a while. Ultimately, TEVA seemingly then just switched the formula back to its non- effective one, and is now dispensing it regularly. Both my doctor and insurance company will be working to fix this for their patients. I just happened to be their perfect patient, having been on the meds before, so I know how they work, and then off all meds for the past 2 years. Plus the fact that I had a full bottle of BARR generic adderall leftover from 2 years from which we could evaluate our theories. THAT OLD BARR GENERIC ADDERALL WORKS WONDERFULLY. EVEN IF IT IS EXPIRED. That tells you all you need to know about the TEVA brand, folks.
Re: Gem (# 553)
Horrible. I hate it. No luck with sunpharm's addies that helped me personally the best. No release date issued with my sun pharm addies, going on almost 3 months on back-order. #hopeless #avoidmalinkroft
Re: Steve (# 570)
This last script of Teva/30mg I picked up on Friday (no alternative in San Antonio) is the absolute worst batch I have ever received from these crooks.
There is something very wrong with these Meds. It seems like they are adding more of that nasty, sweet saccharine filler and reducing some of the 4 main ingredients . They may even be adding more of one of the 4...just know that side effects are terrible: blurry vision, chest discomfort, making me depressed/short tempered, headache. These are dirty pills. Period.
See Doc next month and will have to slog through month but NO MORE TEVA.
Here’s a nice story about the FDA warning many drug manufacturers about their shoddy production methods; Teva at the forefront. Let’s hope the FDA does more than just warn them...
"With Teva’s acquisition and control of Barr and its wide scope of generic manufacturing, the quest to make their drugs at the cheapest price possible has resulted in the use of low-quality precursor chemicals and a complete lack of manufacturing oversight.
Obviously, recalls and production errors happen, but Teva seems to make more mistakes than what one would consider acceptable when dealing with drugs that are used to treat life-threatening illnesses. The pharmaceutical industry as a whole, has historically shown indifference to their actual consumers for the sake of generating more profit.
With Teva taking over such a large portion of the generic drug market, this could be a scary proposition for those who depend on affordable drugs for treating a variety medical conditions. The FDA, the federal administration responsible for overseeing the safety and effectiveness of these medications has continued to turn a blind eye to the issues of Teva — and every other drug manufacturer with deep pockets. Considering the FDA’s history of corruption and the fact that it is made up largely of former pharmaceutical executives and representatives, their apathy toward consumers in favor of these corporations should come as no surprise. If the FDA cannot be cleaned up, big pharma companies like Teva will continue produce medication not fit for public consumption; the consequences of which could be quite devastating — they already have been for millions of individuals worldwide."

NOTICE: No one is saying "Darn, this TEVA adderall is too powerful".
The one common thread in these complaints is that the medicine is weak and ineffective.
Suffice to say, intentionally weak and inefficient medicine would cost less to manufacture and equate to larger profits.
Re: Hamster (# 572)
The side effects that you listed are exactly what I am experiencing. I am not just going to let this go. Not this time,... and not (again) in the future. I am sick of them screwing me over and simply getting by with this. Most of the cost is out of my pocket and I am tired of this. I suffer from an auto immune disease and that is bad enough, but when these guys decide to alter their formula on a whim it is exponentially hard on my health. They get away with this because the law has no teeth in it and also because it doesn't cause permanent bodily harm or kill anyone. However, it is a sham, or scam, for sure. Years ago, generics were difficult to discern from the name brand. That was their claim to fame. I tend to believe that the young management at the drug companies think that they have come up with a new or novel way of increasing the corporate profit. They have chosen to make a lesser product (less effective ingredients = less cost to manufacture) and get away with this because your health insurance can dictate what you get and even the brand that you receive. Now, the insurance enters into deals with these companies in order to save money. Therein creating a solid-dependable customer base for the drug company, no matter how bad their drug is performing. The individual has to settle for the crappy medicine. No free market shopping for the patient, and a contractual monopoly for the drug company. Then, factor in that these companies are absorbing all the other companies that manufacture this product, and you can see the results right here at this sight. You get what they decide to concoct. No ones medicine is even working as a generic should. They have lost their money to the drug company and got nothing in return. Just how many things do you purchase that you can not return if it turns out to be defective? ANSWER: Only medication. How convenient, huh?
120MG daily,17yrs... This is the worst batch ever. Sick feeling and dizzy after 1st dose in the morning 40mg. It causes inner ear problems like too much ephedrine or something....It's bad, really bunk..id take corepharma over these, that's how bad it is.
Remember when adderall tasted like battery acid? Or how it tastes when you touch a 9 volt battery to your tongue to test it? That's good adderall, it's how a good product should taste, not some badly compounded nasal decongestant and some ephedrine...
Re: jp (# 569)
No one posting here is receiving effective medicine, therefore they are not feeling any urge to smoke. You could take the TEVA brand and your urge to smoke would surely disappear.
Re: Steve (# 573)
Exactly! You said it perfectly. Ugh its so frustrating how teva goes up and down like a roller coaster
Dextro303030 (# 574) --
Tastes sweet. The orange thirties teva brand have always tasted sweet. Not one bit bitter. I agree it's very bizarre. It sucks that Teva is only one that is ALWAYS AVAILABLE TOO... :0
Who are the definite manufacturers of the generic now?
I have only seen Teva and Aurobindo in Massachusetts for the last six months or so but I am going to ask if I can order something else from CVS this month.
