Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 25) (Top voted first)

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

I have been taking generic adderall AUROBINDO for years. And I was recently told that they stopped manufacturing it. Now I was given Teva generic. I swear IT DOES NOT WORK! I am sleepy, can’t focus, unmotivated, and emotional. I’m not sure what to do.

Teva is having some issues, don't know any details other than it's a shortage most everywhere and possible Q.C. issues (speculation). I'd actually never heard of Lannett until this month and I am very surprised at how smooth/effective they are. Aurobindo needs to be taken off market!

I notice this same thing, they 'work but the duration is so short I literally don't understand. My metabolism is a beast so I'm used to experiencing the lower end of the spectrum in terms of duration.. i.e. if something is said to last 4-6hrs for me it will be 3hrs.
When it comes to adderall in recent months, it seems to wane even earlier.

I agree , I was switched over to teva because of the shortage and I have to take higher does because to get any type of affect which doesn’t last long. I’m also way more tired.

Reporting here for the first time. I have been taking teva/sandoz IR 10 MG adderall almost every single day since fall 2014. up until the shortage, both teva and sandoz worked decently well. I tried sandoz which made me feel sick on 12/2 so I had my doctor re-write my prescription. Luckily my local cvs still had teva. The last time i had adderall was the new Teva (12/8/22).

However, now this new teva felt more like a really strong caffeine pill and I barely felt focused but I felt super lightheaded and shaky. Mentally I felt okay but super extroverted while physically it felt like there was electricity in my veins and I felt really tweaky.

The comedown was super harsh, it felt like detoxing drugs for lack of a better description. I know that Adderall will always be strong again the first few days but this was nothing like the previous times.

I managed to find one last old Teva pill I had so I compared the new and old tablets and I realized that they were completely different: the old one I had felt more compact and hardened while the new one is chalky, powdery, and flat.

Also since Sunday (12/11/22), I have been experiencing “Brain zaps” (electric like jolts in the spine that feels like i'm drunk and the room is shaking as if there was a small earthquake but I am obviously sober) since not taking Teva. I have never experienced "brain zaps" from Adderall withdrawal. Coincidentally you can also experience "Brain zaps" from illicit drugs. it genuinely felt speed-like.

I think I’m gonna try taking Sandoz again since that was way less intense (although completely not ideal) and I think I'm gonna try taking sandoz without any caffeine really early on a slow work day and see how I feel. At least now I know the difference between new and old teva.

Please share if anyone has anything experienced similar especially with the New Teva post-shortage!

The generics don’t have to be identical to the name brand, so it doesn’t matter if you can prove it’s not identical it doesn’t have to be identical it just has to be within 20% variation in strength. Legally. They can be 20% weaker.

Stopping Adderall does that to me too with the brain zaps, usually it happens when I lay down and start to fall asleep, it can last for a couple months after stopping, I read that it's just the changes in dopamine in the brain or something, it did stop with me after a month or two, whats weird is that depending in the brand, I either get them or don't when I stop.

Due to the Adderall shortages, the DEA/FDA continually cutting the allocation of amphetamines/allowing generic labs overseas to get away with murder (read about the generic drug shenanigans in a book by Kathleen Eban), it is very possible that your generic Adderall was actually substituted with Effexor/Lexapro/Prozac/associated SNRI/SSRIs. Depending on your biochemistry, particularly the genes that code for the serotonin and norepinephrine receptors and transporters, it is definitely possible to suffer "brain zaps" as a result of even a few exposures to these chemicals, or more likely the aftereffects from them as your brain returns to its homeostasis.

We know as little about what is really in any particular generic drug as we would know about an Adderall tablet purchased by the average pill-pressing drug dealer. Most people just blindly trust those "in charge" so they think that the two sources of drug manufacture are worlds apart. The Supreme Court recently ruled that a generic drug maker was are not responsible for a woman's horrific reaction where she lost a large percentage of her skin due a similar syndrome to SJS (toxic necrotizing of the epidermis or a similar name).

This case of course holds precedent, which further emboldens generic companies to do whatever they want without fear of reprisal. Also, because in many cases the brand name drug is no longer produced (as with Adderall IR) the patient has no ability to go back to the brand name drug that worked so well initially. The black market drug dealer at least fears angry customers either beating them up or simply taking their business to a dealer who sells them product that is legitimate.

People have been filling out FDA complaints for years (since 2011 or so, I believe?) yet the problem gets worse every year. This tracks with the continual numerical decline of amphetamines allocated to drug manufacturers each year, which is public information, even as the population in general continues to rise (ie more and more births each year, more and more kids who will misbehave and given amphetamines whether or not they actually have ADHD; some are just brats) along with the percentage of adults with ADHD/narcolepsy who legitimately can't function well without the correct medication.

The system is broken, whether accidentally or purposely. Occam's razor points to the latter: Old drugs do not bring in money to pharma companies, and patients will not try pricey new drugs with potential long term harms unless these old drugs "mysteriously" stop working, in the case of Adderall. Or unless there is a massive legal and media blitz that "coincidentally" occurs at the very end of a class of drug's lucrative "on patent" time period which blames these drugs as the sole cause of a multifaceted societal problem despite their centuries-long history as an essential anodyne, rendering them unprescribable by doctors.

And, as another "coincidence", a 33 billion a year industry crops up out of legalizing another class of drugs which are now touted as the solution for every ill, mental or physical! If you don't like the "side" (ie intended) effects of these drugs and do not find them helpful for your condition at all, you are told "try another strain" or get your doctor's recommendation or ask the "budtender" because "everyone is helped by cannabis" (beware ANY proclamation that applies to human sensory perception that begins with "everybody"). It's all absolutely ludicrous.

Started with core pans this month received Teva. SUCKS, doesn't control any symptoms of ADD , but I can't breath at all, heart is way out of wack, and my mouth is so dry I can't stand it. Never again will I get my meds from teva!

I'm prescribed 20mg IR tablets and there is definitely something wrong... I have absolutely no tolerance and have never established one within the years I've been prescribed. I just filled mine and took one and the effect was close to nothing. So I took another half and nothing happened. Then I took a whole one and then I could tell the medicine started working. I usually only take 3/4 of the 40mg per day prescribed regimen (Take one in the AM, then half about six hours later). So I had to take 2 and a half 20mg tablets? That's bulls***. That's double what I usually have to take. People should get quality medicine, especially when you pay 100 dollars for it. Mine are 20mg IR Teva tabs.

I take it for ADD, not to feel high. Pills from one bottle are non-effective or too strong. I'm on 30 mg, 1/2 tab b.i.d., and the half I took Thursday made me too dizzy to stand up. I KNOW when I get one that's substandard and noticed the difference in strengths with my first bottle of Adderall. I've complained to the FDA about Teva, a waste of time since they let Teva test their own products. Look up Forbes article from 10/10/12 on the internet about Teva's fake Wellbutrin, that should scare everyone. Please don't assume we're addicts looking for a high, some of us depend on these medications and take them as prescribed by our doctors.

Makes sense. Teva bought Barr a couple years ago. I usually have 5mg Barr IR. My Dr changed it to 10mg IR. CVS gave me Teva this time around and it is all side effects. It feels like nothing for a couple hours and then I feel like I have ADD worse than when I don't take any medication. I can't hold a thought, I interrupt people, I start 17 things at once, and I blurt out rude things to others. Plus I feel either starving or nauseous after I eat. I don't urinate as much though. My pharmacy won't take them back.

Bodini, Shire extended release capsules are the only original namebrand. Teva owns the rights to what is now known as namebrand instant release Adderall. If your bottle says generic it should also say amphetamine salts where the name is printed...
Also, thank you for your service to our country. It is a shame that someone your age and whom has also served and sacrificed should pay any money at all for prescriptions. It's very unfair. Especially considering all of the money you and your wife have probably paid into the system through out your life span!!

Yes! I have noticed (as well) that the Teva Adderall IR tablets are not as big in proportion as you stated. I have also noted a decline in potency.

Hmmm, this makes me wonder big time about my recent experiences with my TEVA that had been so trustworthy and predictable for the year I've been taking it - works well when I had a reasonable amount of sleep, barely works at all during the last day of pms and 1st day or 2 of period; and always seems to wear off quickly if I've had way too little sleep. Other than that, was great most of them. I had learned that I must not have citrus or too much vitamin c within an hour of taking, or else the effect were dramatically reduce. All manageable stuff. Usually didn't have any Vit C until later in the day anyway, but on the occasion that I only waited like an hour, it had been fine. Then last weekend, because I was home with family and having different scheduling, I was having o.j. With breakfast in the morning, but still waiting an hour to an hour and 15 mins to drink it, and noticed I lead feeling sluggish and sleepy-eyed in the afternoon. I had chalked it up to vit C too close, but now I wonder. Then my schedule was all whack last week, so no chance to get a fair read... In any case, just had my script refilled a few days ago, and to my horror, it was filled with a generic that I've never had before (core) and I've been worried to try it out because on my 4th month of adderall treatment the pharm gave me aurobindo, and it was a bad experience, and a rough month for me, and we went round about it and had an understanding, they were keeping TEVA in stock for me, so now I don't why I ended with this core, and I am dreading having to experiment, and be out of what I am used to, especially during a particularly chaotic month. Ugh.

Same here and like you I'm sure, found this thread looking for answers and/or explanations. I did see that TEVA brand 10mg IR was recalled in July...makes you wonder how much the process differs from making a 10,20,30 mg and why they weren't all recalled?

Both of my latest refills (20, 30 ir) are noticeably and drastically different then any others I've received in the past three years. No focus, no clarity, more confusion, zero initiative, very short lasting boost comparable to one cup of coffee follwed by horrible drowsiness, tired but not sleepy, overall just disconnected.

I will be refusing teva on my future refills and am considering having my current (bad) pills analyzed to prove just how far off they really are. It's scary really.
