Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 23)
UpdatedI have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?
Re: Lucy (# 439)
Yes they do, that's why they taste sweet. I went to the FDA website. Probably just fall upon deaf ears though.
Re: Jon (# 441)
Yes, that sweet taste should not be in a med? They did that purposely so the kiddos with AHAD would take the med! Sneaky...
I have tried Mylan (crap), Teva (a few batches good 6 months ago but total sugar pill-(literally!), Core (Great 1 year ago but each subsequent month quality slipped and boom....they discontinued it), Aurobindo (The 1st few doses we're surprisingly decent but within 6 to 7 days they absolutely stopped working), tired Sandoz XR in June (made by Shire as an Authorized Generic for Sandoz/Prasco...clean, same potency as old Teva, but lost its kick very quickly)...
So, picked up a script from Doc this week and requested again the Sandoz XR 30 mg (as I just completed the Aurobindo cycle and blew through the script in 20 days because they were so damn weak!) that are "supposedly" identical to Adderall XR Brand by Shire. I knew these had fewer side effects as they have less fillers and use beads -and I did have some success with them back in June. So as I go and get the script filled the pharmacist tells me the Express Scripts would charge me a $282 co-pay for the Sandoz XR but if I took the Adderall XR Brand the co-pay would be $20 bucks! Well, needless to say, I requested the Adderall Brand and out I go with (60) 30mg Adderall XR Brand by Shire for $20 (I later noticed Express Scripts paid $462 of the Adderall XR!).
As I left the pharmacy, I decided to do some investigative work with the FDA. I then spent the next 2 hours researching the original Adderall XR NDC # to see if it matched these Authorized Generics that Shire teamed up with: Sandoz and Prasco. As it turns out, the original NDC # is in the Prasco and Sandoz Adderall XR form. In addition, every single filler was exactly the same. Hence, Adderall XR, Prasco XR and Sandoz XR are all "identical."....I think...what I noticed was the Adderall XR by Shire was made in a different location than the Prasco and Sandoz. If they were all made in same location I would have no doubt they are identical but these separate locations potentially could be the difference -that many have said here- saying the Prasco doesn't work but the Sandoz does - and same with the Shire Brand.
In any event, these Adderall XR worked GREAT for about 4 days and then they just petered out...I still am getting great anxiety control though. In all the generics, I never had this positive response. I have a script for Xanax and I am reducing these...I simply do not need them. Also, little side effects with the Adderall XR. other than loss of appetite (nothing like the TOTAL loss of ANY appetite with Teva), some dry mouth.
I think the bottom line to ALL ADD meds (Generic/Brand) is you MUST take breaks. Generally all the positive reviews of certain generics start out great but by day, say 25...not so much... Use what works for you but be vigilant in taking breaks and "vacations" from these meds as they ALL end up being the same in the end..nothings perfect!...Good Luck!
Re: Jon (# 441)
True! Probably wouldn't do me any good to complain!
Re: SarahAda (# 2)
These dont work for me. They r crap. Gave me bad headache and makes me feel hungry and tired. I not only got crap for adderall, I also got crap for roxy 30 by Epic. So now I have to wait the month out and get new mfrs or take 3 roxy 30s at a time when im sup to take 1. The pharm agreed w me that they can b off by as much as 20 percent and said thats a big difference
Re: Bh (# 444)
Yeah, what a bunch of crap! I thought there was supposed to be regulations in place. Or they're trying to slowly wean everyone off of the good stuff....BS!
I agree! This is ridiculous! Especially for those of us that really need this medication!!! It's the ones that abuse this medication & sell and it is the ones that are ruining what they put in this medication to help us that truly need it! Just Sayn...
Re: Wine (# 432)
Yes, i asked to be put on 20mg xr and 10mg ir and they wrote it and asked for 90 of the .5 xanax, the peaces, so yes is the answer.
Shire makes a new type of medication called "Mydayis", has anyone been prescribed this? I heard that it's similar to extended release adderall...
Update on vyvanse (Dexedrine).
Picked my Vyvanse* script last month and was taking 50mg once a day in the morning. Very effective compared to the inconsistent adderall out there. Moved up to 60mg in the morning and Shire pays for it completely. Check out "Shire Cares".
So much more productive taking the vyvanse compared to the adderall.
For those who get prescribed Adderall, I highly recommend Vyvanse* instead. Save yourself the stress of finding your manufacturer every month, get something more steady and predictable.
Re: Nick (# 448)
Hi Can you get the Vyvanse in an instant release instead of extended? I take Adderall for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome so the extended release form doesn't work for my Chronic Fatigue. Thanks!!
Re: Lucy (# 449)
Vyvanse is only available as is, however, Dexedrine is a more immediate acting version of Vyvanse.
Vyvanse isn't techincally an extended release medication, however it does act like one. It's contents are only metabolized in our digestive system at a certain rate and so it acts as if it were an extended release substance. -This is different than adderall.
(Vyvanse is dextroamphetamine with a lysine molecule attached to it. That lysine molecule must be cleaved off of the dextroamphetamine in our digestive system before the dextroamphetamine can take effect. This happens at a certain rate in our bodies.)
(Dexedrine does not contain the lysine molecule, thus dextroamphetamine takes effect much quicker)
Note: Vyvanse is much smoother because of the gradual "come-up" and "come-down"
Teva is pretty good imo compared to other options right now imo. Aurobindo and Corepharma are ass. Maybe give it a couple more tries?
You guys should try adzenys, it seems to work for me. No up and down, just a steady plateau. It expensive though.
Re: Aurobindo Sucks (# 451)
AMEN, Corrr, Mylan, Aurobindo and last but not least actavis Adderall generics are complete trash, HORRIBLE side effects!, To the point I had to have my doctor write Teva/Barr medically necessary wich took along time due to shortages and whatnot. However these are the best hands down(TEVA) Brand Adderall is closest to the actual patented brand and at once was the patented brand; until around 2012-13 if I’m wrong correct me, but there are minimal side effects and Teva is also superior in other generics narcotic and non-narcotic. my opinion, I am not a doctor nor do I endorse any medication misuse this is intended for informational purposes only. Be safe and follow doctors orders.
Re: purplerayn86 (# 453)
I may try Teva again. Aurobindo seemed to work well for me but my doc just increased my dosage to 30 mg 2x day. Hopefully it works well.
Re: Grendel (# 452)
What are adzeny’s? This person said we ought to try in place of adderall
Re: Lucy (# 449)
Try Dexedrine IR
Much better than Vyvanse and Aderall.
I find the ones from Wilshire to be the best ones right now. The good Barr formulas are no longer available.
Is it an octagonal white pill? I see peach by Teva when I google it & a white octagonal pill doesn't come up on my searches so far.
I believe this is what my son was given the last 2 times, same issue. Also, it makes him quite moody. The doctor tried increasing the dose to 30 mg, but with little improvement & he is very moody on it.
Re: Louise (# 458)
Mallinckrodt. Horrible. Stay far away from this knock off generic adderall
It is Ridiculous!! It’s like taking nothing at all! I take Adderall for Chronic Fatigue (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) & needless to say I’ve been suffering needlessly because drug companies are NOT doing what they are suppose to do to help people with their health issues!!
