Adderall Xr 20mg. Blue Capsule (Page 5) (Top voted first)

Pharmacy recently switched me to new generic brand (blue capsule) of adderall XR. I have never seen this brand and I don't feel like it is effective. I lack concentration and focus, recurring symptoms of ADHD. Anyone else experience this?

I too use CVS & took it up with the head pharmacist. He has been "special ordering" the orange for me after 2 months of hell on the blue. He told me that CVS has a new policy of making the pharmacy customers happy as they have been dead last in customer satisfaction surveys. Talk to your head pharmacist, insist they order the orange for you and if enough people keep complaining and refusing the blue impostors, the pharmacies will bring back the orange!

I agree, it just doesn't help me either.I am going to call druggist and tell him too let me know if he can't get hold of previous ones I'll go to another druggist. My bottle has same info & mfg on bottle, yet old ones were yellow, these are blue.

I finally got my Dr to switch me back to regular 30 mg Adderral, and everything is right as rain again!

Please everyone who reads this disregard the previous comparison to the Tuskeegee Experiments. This individual is obviously upset over the switch in their generics and, for whatever reason, chose to make a laughable comparison to one of the most tragic incidents in the history of this country. To this poster, please get over yourself, you were not deceived and you are well within your rights as a patient to refuse generic substitution of your medications (even a specific generic). Pharmacies will not carry every generic available for a medication, but once you find one you like you can see if they will continue to order it for you or simply ask around at other pharmacies in your area. This is something that independently owned, "mom and pop" pharmacies will often be willing to help you with the most as they usually rely on several wholesalers whereas the chain pharmacies purchase enormous bulk orders from specific manufacturers. The practice of immediately substituting generics is common for one simple reason: cost. If there is this much backlash over substitution of cheap generics, can you imagine how many people would raise hell over seeing the price of the Brand name version of their medication be 10-100x of what they are used to paying for the generic at their old pharmacy?

Actavis made the first "true" generic for Adderall XR. Before them, all other versions of Adderall XR were the same formulation produced by Shire. Even if you received from a different manufacturer this was still the case, these are known as "authorized generics" which is what many Brand name manufacturers will do when their patent is about to expire. To prevent immediate competition from another company they will often cut deals with some of the first that might be interested in producing a generic formulation. The original Brand name company will provide the same medication they have been producing to this generic manufacturer, often times it will even be the Brand name formulation with little or no change (see Greenstone generic Effexor XR and certain generics for Macrobid). This is a win-win because the generic company gets the closest version available to the real thing and the Brand maker is able to retain exclusivity on the market.

Now, the differences people are reporting are likely due to the fact that Actavis had to make their "best guess" in designing their generic. Generic medications are allowed a +/- 20% variability from the Brand medication in the blood concentrations they are able to achieve. Thus, there may inherently be an 80-120% range that people are experiencing with the generic. Their task is complicated by the fact that not only did they have to get the active/inactive ingredients to a similar level, but had to make their version of the time release mechanism as well. With medications that are psychoactive (have their effect on the brain), is usually where the greatest difference between Brand and Generic is seen. This has to do with the fact that it is difficult to get medications into the brain to begin with any small changes can have enormous effects in the experience.

I agree with the other posts. The Actavis blue pills are totally ineffective. I was switched from the orange generic 20 mg XR capsules to these 2 months ago and I am very unsatisfied. Good to know its not just me!

I need to find out who is the manufacturer for the orange generics I had for years before so I can call around and request these specifically.

I have been on adderall xr 20mg orange pill made by teva which is generic since I have medical. I recently got the blue actavis script and it's so F****n Bunk! I feel like I'm on some filthy street drug. I am a 4.0 engineer student and this day after day I never stopped getting headaches. My head is pulsing. I took xanax just to make my headache go away after everyday that I had decided to give the blue pill a shot. I have been taking nothing instead of this crap till the next re-fill because my doc will only write generic because i go to a crappy poor clinic that can't write brand name... So raged... It's a day before finals week and now I'm f****d. All because my old doc retired. Flush this blue stuff down the drain!

I am experiencing the exact same issue. No pharmacies in my area have the old manufacturer and I refuse to take anymore of this poison. !!! IT IS AWFUL.

My last two refills of adderall were The round peach tablets b 777 imprint one side and 1 5 on the other have made me feel very disoriented, nausea, tired to the point of sleeping 12-16 hours at times, I am angry, anxious, sad, and confused, and my vision is blurry. In the 8 years I have taken this medication I have NEVER felt this bad, this worthless or this tired!

For three days I have been in a slump. No energy and feeling depressed because everything takes such an effort. Then I realized, these were the first days taking Actavis Elizabeth LLC version of Adderall! It is not effective at all.

I feel the same way! What's going on the orange ones are making me feel deathly ill!!!!!!! I was fine before!!!! I have no energy on the orange pills and severe headaches, nausea, confusion and it feels like electrical wires are going through my body! My head keeps going numb and I keep falling asleep by 8pm. It's starting to scare me!!! Please help.

Yes, I was given the Actavis generic of Adderall xr 20mg and it makes me so sick. Today is the first day that I have the Shire brand name Adderall XR back. The nausea is gone, the tiredness, paranoia, pressure headaches, and complete belief about life turning to s*** - it's gone.

Actavis is s***. My pharmacists and doctors all acted as if I was crazy and one doctor gave me a drug panel and then said that she wanted to put me on antipsychotics after I cried about my sugar pills and babled about my life spiraling out of control. I was pissed. One pharmacist... When he got back from vacation (he is my favorite) believed me and worked his ass to get my insurance company to pay for the brand name shire adderall a week or so early, citing my reaction to Actavis and such. It took him 4 days but he did it.

To everyone in this situation: The pharmaceutical company wouldn't agree with me. 99.999% of pharmacists are pawns for the pharmaceutical industry and spout their crap.

Don't give up. You know your body and you know when there is a problem. Stick with your convictions and fight. Good luck. I have been miserable for weeks but I kept fighting and I won. Finally.

OK now I'm nervous...lol.. they started me on the blue ones and today I started with the orange. I have been feeling some anxiety so far this am. Looked online to make sure they did not give me the wrong thing. Sounds like it may just be a bit stronger than the blue ones. I guess I will give it a week to see if I level out. Sigh. As long as I don't walk in circles all day I will be OK.

I actually also just started and it threw my heart into tachycardia... i used deep breathing to slow it down and im fine however i feel as tho this is stronger than my previous two 10 mg while being titrated...

I only have half of a pill. It is round in shape. Peach or orange in color. You can tell it was scored twice though on the one side. On the other you can see a capital "A" and what looks like a "3". The rest of what was there was on the other half so I need to find out what this pill is.

I will never take one of these pills again in my life. I've taken the orange 20mg xr, as well as 10mg ir's, and it doesn't even feel like the same chemical. Absolutely no positive effects at any point. I even noticed some slight dizziness and increased fatigue along with mood swings. Words can't describe how absolutely terrible this pill is. Whoever made these is endangering the public and should be sued to bankruptcy.
