Adderall Xr Newbie

I've been diagnosed Bipolar II. Am currently on, and have been for a few years, Paxil, Lamictal, risperdal and klonopin. Dr just prescribed 20mg Adderall XR cuz I've been complaining about distractibility. I've never been diagnosed with ADD. I've only been on the drug for two weeks, and after reading a bunch of stuff online, I'm scared to death of this drug. I wanna stop but I'm afraid of the crash. Will it be fairly easy since I've only been on it for two weeks?

Yes, it will most likely be fairly easy, after such a short time, but you will still probably experience a crash.

What side effects are scaring you? Perhaps those can be addressed to help you.

The FDA classifies this medication as a stimulant, so it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, weight loss, anorexia, nervousness, irritability and insomnia.

Thanks for answering! Well, I'm still on Adderall xr 20mg day because my psychiatrist left for a new position, didn't want to mess with my drugs, and I'm having to wait until July to see the new dr. So it's been a couple months. The side effects I read about were racing heart. I have MVP and I don't know if the drug would affect it at all. Also people saying how they can't get off of it because of withdrawals. Last night for the first time I skipped the dose. I had a horrible night! Headache, couldn't sleep, nausea, vomited 3x., jaw pain. I waited til early morning, took my pill for the day. Was able to fall right to sleep. Woke up three hours later feeling okay again. So now I'm extra scared of trying to come off it. I don't even know if I need to. Maybe it needs upped. Not sure if it's helping me. I take it for sound distractions. Haven't noticed a real difference.

Other side effects that bother me are the headaches, the jaw pain, the heat intolerance, the severe risk of dependency. The headaches and jaw pain have lessened over time, however.
