Adderall Backorder (Page 88) (Top voted first)

Updated

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

I’d also like to see a link confirming 40mg max for ADHD. I’ve been on adderall for 15 years. Started at 40mg, increased to 60 mgs. I’ve been prescribed 80 mgs for over 5 years now without a problem. 2 x30 IR and 1 x 20IR. EVERYONE is different and most definitely will build up a tolerance after years of the same medication.

Re: Rcma (# 1666) Expand Referenced Message

i was just trying to share my personal experience of the recent batches for the forum... people are focusing too much on my use of the word "unfair". i get that technically no one "owes" us patients anything.

many people have shared similar experiences that the new batches of teva and sandoz aren't what they used to be (the most preferred generics) and i was adding to that.

There have been shortages of antibiotics, insulin and many other drugs. Grant you, the DEA does not set yearly quotes on other drugs like they do Schedule II drugs. But there are still shortages. A drug being used to treat psychiatric conditions does not make it more important than other drugs. In some ways, psychiatric drug are less important than antibiotics, insulin, etc.

Have you tried L-Tyrosine. Not joking. And, actually, Wellbutrin also also raises dopamine in the PF cortex. I'm not suggesting any of these. I'm not a doctor and you didn't ask 4 advice :). Just passing along that there actually ARE things besides Adderall that have sympathomimetic effects and act as dopamine agonists.

Moderators are supposed to keep threads on track. Open a new one if you want to discuss something else, that's not why most of us are here, I'd wager.

Re: Rcma (# 1682) Expand Referenced Message

This is a well written take on a crappy and unfortunate situation. It's like a car mechanic determining how much of a dose is proper or is average for a medical patient to have or get for ADHD. Ridiculous at best. Thanks for posting this.

RCMA: You are right on target. I think that's why I selected you who seems to know what's up about a few things... can you or anyone on here please share with me how I can create my own thread? I have something I want to post/ask and have no idea how to start it. All I do is reply to others stuff. I've looked over and over and can't find anything that resembles how to start a new post. Thanks.

My doctor won't write over 60 mgs as it's recommended max. Over the years, I gotten plum FAT. I am just not sure 60 mgs have the same effect on me when I was 175 lbs. Now I'm 260 lbs, per size it seems I would need a higher dose. Does body weight affect dose level?

JENO71. Thanks for the feedback. Imho...Everyone finds their way to "truth" by living through earth school and a bit of research (since the info out there doesn't always agree with what we personally experience, hehe). Ultimately everyone has their own experience and story to tell. It's all worthwhile and nobody's "different" is more right or wrong. But facts matter as much as viewpoints.

You cannot get more than a 30 day prescription filled. Most, if not all states, have limits on how long Schedule II prescriptions are valid. If you get more than one prescription filled. Your doctors and pharmacists will be able to see that in a short time and that will flag you.

Yay....after a month, the pharmacist said she had 12.5s, but I'm supposed to have 30s.
My doctor called in some 12.5s for me at least. But of course, I'm out of town at the moment so I can't get them. Lmao I'm sending my sister to pick them up for me.

Yep, I filled one about 5 days too early, and I got flagged. I was going out of town for awhile and would've ran out. The doctor I was seeing dropped me like a hot potato and would never see me again. It's not like I was abusing them, I was going out of town for a couple of weeks.

Re: Ken (# 1698) Expand Referenced Message

I'm surprised that you found a pharmacy willing to even fill it that early, and that it was your doctor that was most livid about it (especially if you explained it was a one-time occurrence).

In my experience, most pharmacies are open to refilling it up to 2-3 days early without a hassle, but it depends on that pharmacy's policies (and I'd imagine state law). I don't know what would trigger "being flagged" in any capacity... did you struggle to find another doctor or refill your medication in the future?

Is this a pharmacy in nyc?
What are ppl with Narcolepsy supposed to do? My Dr. has tried to put me on 20s but those are also out. If you have any advice on a pharmacy that seems to have anything in stock, that would be appreciated.

I agree. Most prescriptions are electronic. Mine are, but it would be easier to have written prescription for Adderall. Most pharmacies won't tell you if they have it in stock or not over phone nor in person without prescription...crazy. It's not like we would go rob a pharmacy for 30 to 60 pills....lol, well maybe someone might. Doctors aren't going to continuously call the prescriptions into 20 different pharmacies until you find one that has it. I've been taking it for 20+ years. I had a psychiatrist at the University of TN - Memphis School of Medicine write it for me for both ADD and depression augmentation. Basically I was researched and studied...lol. Sessions were recorded and probably used in classes. The depression part is a whole other story.

Here's some real, science based information that might actually be helpful. Try taking L-Tyrosine which can be purchased at any health food marketplace, GNC, supplements section at most pharmacies, Walmart, Target (i.e., not shady gas station overkroced stimulants).

L-Tyrosine is an essential component for the production of several important brain chemicals called neurotransmitters, including epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine. Neurotransmitters help nerve cells communicate and influence mood. [1]

Tyrosine is a popular dietary supplement used to improve alertness, attention and focus. It produces important brain chemicals that help nerve cells communicate and may even regulate mood. [2]

Seems this once informative thread is becoming platform for grievances, anti - regulatory rants, whataboutism, gas station OTC nootropics, screeds about fairness and deservability.

That's encouraging news. Many people have hated the Camber. Nevertheless, something is better than nothing.

Yes, generic adderall is on back order, I never had this happen bf until now. The pharmacy doesn't have any idea when they'll get this in.
