Adderall Backorder (Page 71)

Updated

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

Tim's suggestions are spot on. I've been saying similar things for a few months, but #1398 Is an excellent comprehensive plan. Bravo!

The reason why CVS and Walgreens don't have stock (vs other sources) is because the corporate policy has been that their pharmacists can't do inventory and keep it in stock. Many told me that even if they're all out.... Until a new Rx is in their system, ordering is forbidden. So it's the equivalent of running out of milk and the grocer can't order milk until a shopper says "got milk?". No joke.... This is also why they say no,. often, ro a random new customer. If "John" and "Jim" are waiting, their scripts are entered into the system and they're told come in on Saturday.... The pharmacist will not give that order to "Sally" who just happened to walk in that day. This has been verified by many pharmacists to me.... they can't over order to meet demand. They have to order only what's in the system. It's a catch 22 because the shortage makes you want to shop around but unless your script is entered into their system they can't legitimately order and if somebody else's script is in their system that's somebody else is going to get the meds not you.

So 100% agree about relationship building with a pharmacist.

Yes this is a totally insane way to live when a medical doctor is prescribing a medication for a neuro divergent patient. Most Neuro divergent patients are still often stigmatized... Yes, it's dehumanizing at times. But that's the reality.

Call a hospital pharmacy - i just tried that, and while they didn’t have the full amount of adderall IR i take in stock (30 mg 4x daily), they said that they can have it ordered and in stock within 72 hours. I guess a hospital has more of it warehoused than some of these chain pharmacies. Good luck -

I just got a call from an online mail order pharmacy called Outreach RX. They said they have generic in stock and can ship it with a valid prescription and a copy of a valid ID. Has anyone ever used this pharmacy before?

So much for the Teva excuse of packaging slow downs at one plant due to under staffing.

Sandoz, Amneal and Rhodes join Teva in nationwide generic Adderall shortage as demand spikes

It is in Fort Pierce. I hope they can get it again but I have to transfer all of my prescriptions there Actually the 20mg IR by Teva is not working as well as the 30mg I had from Walgreens the month before.

Pretty sure your heart would explode taking a dosage that high. No legitimate dr. Would prescribe that much to a patient they they actually wanted to help.

Re: Nikki Suits (# 1410) Expand Referenced Message

The IR pills do not last long, especially the newer generics Hence the 4x a day. I am sure one's heart will not explode if the dose was titrated upwards over time. That was a foolish comment

Re: Nikki Suits (# 1410) Expand Referenced Message

I’m prescribed 30mg a day and started out at 50mg a day 10 years ago. 20mg is a pretty normal dosage. Why would the manufacturer make 20mg tablets if they made peoples hearts explode? They make 30mg tablets too. Clearly you’ve never been [legally] prescribed Adderall which makes me think you’re probably a part of the problem.

Re: Cyr (# 1349) Expand Referenced Message

I don’t know. Things feel pretty desperate. I can completely relate to you in that it’s been really difficult for me to function at all let alone conger up the energy to call pharmacies, argue with my insurance company and communicate with my doctor. My doctor is a GP. I started seeing her after my psych retired 2 years ago, and while she’s been great and reliable, she is not knowledgeable about neurodivergence and is very strict as I think she’s nervous about prescribing a controlled substance (how Adderall somehow got on the same list as OxyContin and phetermine is truly absurd. It’s prescribed to children for gods sake!)

I guess my plan is to find a psychiatrist who’s taking new patients who would be willing to prescribe me non-generic Adderall (or at least Sandoz). Just thinking about how much of a pain that’s going to be makes me want to crawl into bed and give up.

The forms and drug tests and pill counts and wait periods and constantly feeling paranoid that I could say or do one wrong thing and have my name flagged and medication revoked forever is so stressful. Building the trust of a new, suspicious doctor who will be hesitant to even take me as a patient due to the pain in the ass it is to prescribe my medication… omg.

I have a full time job and a life and bills - I do not have the capacity for all of this.

The shortage is bad enough, but when you finally pick up your meds and they barely work. It’s too much.

How is it acceptable for a medication to not be available to patients who need it?

Re: Rcma (# 1348) Expand Referenced Message

What is going on where they’re suddenly so ineffective? I would think this could be dangerous. ADHD people are pretty forgetful, wouldn’t there be sort of a problem with people forgetting they took their meds due to them not working and then accidentally taking too much? Or people taking more than their dosage out of desperation?

I wonder if Teva is intentionally changing the ingredients in only it’s controlled substances because the people who take them are not likely to be taken seriously by anyone. I would think if other medications started losing their efficacy, someone would’ve figured it out and investigated it by now.

It’s adorable how this is all being blamed on “telehealth” prescriptions and not Teva. Sure, a surge in demand is definitely a part of the problem, but what’s the excuse for when the same exact thing happened in 2011?

Re: Kru98386 (# 1416) Expand Referenced Message

Right? Totally agree. Every pharmacy in NYC has been out for weeks now. Chains, small independent pharmacies, delivery services, everywhere.

The frustrating part to me isn't even it being out of stock, it's that no one can answer when they'll be getting more. Everywhere I call is, "I don't know. It's on back order. I don't know when we'll be getting more."

Meanwhile the Teva spokesperson being quoted in all these articles that there isn't an issue, the big chain pharmacies claiming that "all of their customers needs are being met", everyone is just lying through their teeth so their company stock prices don't drop. It's infuriating.

Absolutely amazing how social media misinterprets and contorts.

1. No "blame" is being assigned to Telehealth.
2. No "blame" is being assigned at all.
3. Media is being shared, and I personally haven't confirmed THEIR reports

If anything I have SPECULATED on the culpability or negligence of the FDA, DEA, and Big Pharma for distorting or denying the facts.

How that got condensed into blaming Telehealth is kookoo imo. I reject your attack and cite flawed comprehension. Perhaps inattentiveness?

Just providing info via links doesn't mean I agree with their journalism. People need to be offered the info.... They decide to reject or accept the narrative. I have no dog in this fight. R E L A X and be kind... Let's keep it Civil and friendly on this thread. Can Americans NOT get cantankerous about ANYTHING anymore? (Rhetorical)

I take it for off label use as well. For multiple neurologically disorders and I am told how dangerous it is to suddenly stop and besides the issues I need it for, now I am having chest pains. I am concerned about my heart. I can't find it anywhere!
