Adderall Backorder (Page 69) (Top voted first)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

I also get mine filled at Walgreens (IR and XR, 30mg). I haven’t been able to get anything filled in about 3-4 weeks? I had luckily saved a few weeks worth because this has happened to me in the past a few times.

But my question is, what about other pharmacies? I assumed that the shortage is applicable to ALL PHARMACIES but I was just curious since you specifically mention Walgreens in this post.

From what I’ve experienced AND read online from others, it’s ALL DOSAGES of Adderall. Which makes sense. Beyond frustrating. These adderall shortages happen every so often (and I’ve been taking this since 2007).

I've found the chain pharmacies do not have them, but the mom and pop shop I go to just happens to. Maybe check a smaller/independent one? ???

How many pharmacies did you call and ask if they had your regular dosage and different dosages ? Did you ask to speak to the pharmacist ? Did you ask when they would be getting some in ?

This situation is frustrating and overwhelming. Have you tried independent pharmacies ? Often they have medications when chain pharmacies do not.

The only way you will know what a pharmacy has is for you to call them. There is no way another person knows what a particular pharmacy does and does not have. Have you tried independent pharmacies in your area ?

I know several people that take Adderall and other Schedule II medications for ADHD and other things. They call their pharmacies and ask to speak to the pharmacist. They tell them they will have their prescription in a few days and ask if they have enough medication on hand to fill it. If they do not, they ask the pharmacist to please order it.

I have been waiting since 10/6 as well for 5mg IR generic. From the looks of it and what I read, we might be looking at 2022 for a refill, which is total BS.

Schedule II prescriptions are only valid for a short time. Your doctor will have to write a new prescription when it comes in.

Have you called other stores in your area ? Have you asked your Walgreens pharmacist if they have Ritalin 10 mg ? If your doctor verifies no stores have 5mg IR. He probably won't have a problem prescribing 10 mg take 1/2 tablet until 5mg is back in stock.

dextrostat may still be available. it is tablet of 10mg. not as strong as adderall. vivance for short? Terrible; some people really needs these meds.

it does happen - not often; but it does happen. I remeber they had to put a hold on the dextrostat like 30 years ago because the black die in the spansule would react to sunlight. they changed the die. These days, they (DEA) are probably being very careful and caucious I hope...

The DEA has been reducing the active ingredients for Schedule II drugs by quite a bit in recent years. It will be reduced again in 2022.

A lot depends on the area. A friend of mine takes Adderall 20 mg. She got her prescription filled week before last with no problem at a Walgreens in Louisiana.

I also have narcolepsy and cannot get my 7.5 ml dose filled. It’s been 2 weeks, so I am limited only to my 5 mg xr currently.

Can everyone say their location so we can know where these shortages are? Arizona here, didn’t have a problem getting Lannett 30mg last month.

New Orleans here too. Def don’t go to Walgreens cuz yeah, they are still saying backordered. It has been that way for 1.5 months now which is pretty crazy.
Best alternative I’ve found is the smaller pharmacies have been helpful in the meantime.
I prob won’t be going to Walgreens to get anything filled after this though. Their way of handling things has been pretty lousy but ah well.

Of course they are not going to give you that information. They have to be extremely careful with that information. I am shocked Teva gave you the info they did. That is why it is best to talk to the pharmacist you deal with every month.

Generic Adderall has been on back order for a couple weeks in Los Angeles. I read that there’s a national shortage and that the drug companies don’t expect things to get back to normal until January 2022. :(

More than a class action there's gonna be alot of malpractice suits…I haven't seen the back order bs since last year. It’s always twice or 3x a year. If you get a certain brand they have to get it for you.

There are no grounds for class action suits or malpractice suits. Each year the DEA decides how much Schedule II active ingredients manufacturers will be given the next year. When that runs out that is it until Jan 1 of the next year. Each year the DEA has reduced the amounts more and more and 2022 is no different.

Where are you Louisiana ppl filling addys at because I called every Walgreens I’m the southern part of Louisiana & they were all out! I’m in Lafayette, LA they’ve been out for 2 months & I only like the Teva brand. Smaller pharm had other brands but they won’t order the Teva because they say it’s way higher in price than the other brands & they wouldn’t make money on it. It’s crazy!
