Adderall Backorder (Page 53)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?

Yep,just got the same from Walgreens, told me they wont have any in stock till freaking JULY..

I would suggest the following, which has been successful for me:

1. Don't call, but go to the pharmacy, speak to the pharmacist, not a technician.

2. Ask them to look you up in computer to verify this is a regularly medication for you that is medically necessary. I e. Establish that you're not a new "telemedicine adderall seeker." (Not to say telemedicine is bad but pharmacists are on the watch now with cII scripts). Demand is more than supply and they will tell everyone backorder, but what is really happening is that a smaller quantity is shipped than the demand so they're trying to politely say 'go elsewhere ').

3. Then ask if they use McKesson, AmerisourceBergen or Cardinal as a supplier and what dosages ARE available, in stock. They can see this info.

4. If you don't make progress, then the next pharmacy you try make sure they use a different supplier. For example if the pharmacist says they use Cardinal and are 3 weeks backordered, go to a pharmacy that uses McKesson or AmerisourceBergen.

5. Agree to take a partial order if they don't have a 30 day supply.

6. Use GoodRx instead of insurance and pay cash on a partial order. Tell your doctor you will need a new script sooner because of supply chain, only received a partial fill, and have it written in whatever pill dosage is most available -+ my experience is 30mg tabs are easier to get.

7. My Doctor and I found that the Easiest solution is to change to generic Focalin or Ritalin or Zenzedi until supply chain is restored. My doctor and I do this because zero medication is not an option.

I am in Knoxville, TN. I just called about my script due today.. said they are on backorder until OCTOBER 2022!!!!!

i talked to my pharmacy about my upcoming script and they said the brand is still available, and the backorder is just for generic Adderall. fyi.

It is Always best to go in and talk with the pharmacist face to face. This time of year there are a lot of pharmacists that just graduated and are working their first solo pharmacy job. They do not have the experience others have that have worked in the field for at least a few years. So it might be best to wait until the Pharmacy Manager is working. You know they have experience.

You mentioned you are on Medicare. I know a person can be disabled and receive Medicare. But I was wondering if you are 65+. The reason is a friend of mine was told by her doctor recently that he could no longer prescribe her Adderall due to her age. She has been taking it for 25 yrs.

Yes. I spoke with CVS that checked a 50 mile radius. Walgreens, Walmart and a small local pharmacy. None of them had the XRs in any strength

Okay so even the Brand XR is completely gone from pharmacies near me, now. Luckily, IR is fine so my dr is switching my XR to IR until this blows over. Hopefully I won't get burnt out...

Yup, they basically the manufacturer just don't have enough available for everyone. So, it's on backorder. Not the first time it's happened. Just give it a few days or so. The whole USA is being affected, unless there is a pharmacy that still had some left over from the last time they had their stock filled. You're definitely not the only one affected.
