Adderall Backorder (Page 34)
(Newest replies first)

I take generic Adderall 20 mg for narcolepsy and there is not one local pharmacy that has it in stock. I have never had this problem before. The pharmacies are saying that it's on backorder from the manufacturer. Is anyone else having problems getting their scripts filled?
Re: Cyr (# 1297)
No, my standard Rx hasn't changed since 2011. Dexedrine/Zenzedi Dextroamphetamine Sulfate 10mg TID... unless I and my MD change it due to supply chain/manufacturer issues. Then we switch to Adderall generic 15mg TID. There are different conversion charts for ADHD meds, but we stick to 1:1.5 so 10 dex equals 15 add. Always IR. What has changed significantly... insanely.. is the quality and availability of the meds. Like everyone on this thread, I have experienced incrementally the decline of availability of quality generics with efficacy and no side effects. As said AUROBINDO is by far the #1 offender, decimating the national market... And I think after they got in the game, it suddenly became a pharma competition...a race to the bottom....who can mass market the worst crap at the cheapest Price...flood and dominate the market. "HECK, AUROBINDO is getting away with fraud and getting rich on it; the wholesale distributors are happy with larger margins, higher profit... the PBMs, pharmacies and FDA aren't barking.... Let's all just throw away quality, compliance and ethics and make big $$$ on s****y ADHD meds cuz enforcement and accountability doesn't exist! Honor system? Nah. "
Think about it. If someone in the class cheated and there was never adverse consequences and they are getting an A+.... but you were getting a B because you didn't want to cheat, eventually everybody will just cave in because being an honest player becomes a liability without deterrents.
Welcome to today's mess. That's my real world observationn and I have no proof to back it up. It started with Core Pharma around 2012... then AUROBINDO ran with it. Apparently Scott Gottlieb MD tore down the guard rails when he got appointment as FDA chief.
Re: Debbie M in California (# 1303)
Debbie, this is so unbelievable. If one Walgreens can get Teva, why can't all of them. I know they are available at the main distribution center because someone in here who works for Teva said they have been shipping them to Walgreens DCs. I just can't quite grasp the issue.
Some of us rely on Adderall for a quality of life. We rely on it to make phone calls, leave the house, focus enough to pay bills, go to the grocery store, take care of our homes. I don't know what to believe.
Re: Denise (# 1301)
I have an email from Teva customer service telling me they sent Adderall to warehouse and I showed it to the pharmacist when I went in Thursday to see if they had it. She said she ordered it the day before and they said it was on backorder till the 29th but didn't guarantee if they would have it then. I think she was telling the truth because she half way showed me the order sheet. I am at the point nothing surprises me. I go through this each month. I have been out since the end of June. I am glad you are getting it. I pay $47.00 for my prescription I take 4 a day of the 20 mg. That is half the cost my insurance pays the rest.
Re: Denise (# 1301)
Denise, I am on Medicare and my copay for 60 20mg tablets is $45. This is so crazy. Technically I can't use good Rx unless a med is not covered but I might try it anyway. I did get Teva back in Jan at Walgreens but they seemed to be old and crumbly.
Maybe my pharmacist will order the Teva but he isn't very cooperative. Last time I had my script filled with the Camber/Cambria I had been waiting all weekend. I went on Monday but the truck had not come yet at 2:30. When it did come, he didn't even call me. I had my doctor send script to other store on Tuesday. I got a text saying it was ready but at my regular store. So I had to go cancel the second script at other Walgreens. He said he was too busy to call me.
I wanted to talk to store manager but she wasn't there so I spoke to assistant manager and explained how stressful that was.
Also he told me he was ordering Mallinkrodt but did not.
Re: Debbie M in California (# 1290)
I pay out of pocket at Walgreens because they don't accept my insurance, and they have been the only ones to have Teva since 2020. I pay $30 for 20mg 60 tabs through goodrx. Maybe tell them you are willing to pay for it if you can. My Walgreens had it last Thursday, and I told them if it's Cambria I don't want it. My script can go somewhere who accepts my insurance instead of paying for something I don't want. Suddenly, they had 2 bottles they fill from. Not sure how much that is, but they had the Teva. Hope that helps!
Re: AR (# 1287)
Same thing happened to me last month. It was Cambria is what I think you meant. No effect whatsoever. Had my dr appt last Thursday and called Walgreens to see, and told them that I will have my dr send it somewhere else if they don't have Teva. My insurance isn't accepted at Walgreens, so I pay out of pocket because Teva works and nobody has had it since 2020 except Walgreens. They had 2 bottles they fill from and said they would make sure I would get Teva for last Saturday pickup and I did thankfully. *Advice when picking up any scripts. Always check before you leave pharmacy because if they are wrong, they have to take back. Once you leave, it's against the law for them to take back a prescription. Especially a controlled.
Re: Cyr (# 1298)
I had the same issue last month, and the adderal they gave me was by manufacturer Cambria which was not Teva. It did not work the same. However, last Thursday I had my Dr appt and decided to call Walgreens on my way. I told them I pay out of pocket for this med, so if they don't have the one I want then they can send to Walmart who takes my insurance. Suddenly, they have 2 bottles they fill from for the Teva. I pay $30 for it through goodrx discount. It's worth it to me because Teva is what actually helps me function with my ADD. Others can make me grind my teeth or sick to my stomach. Two feelings I'm not looking for. Hope that long story helps.
Re: Debbie M in California (# 1290)
Debbie, I am sorry you are having the same issues I am with Walgreens and not being able to find anything that works to make life functional.
Even the independent that I used for years would not order the Teva for me. I don't know of the same pharmacist/ owner is there. I haven't seen him. He was very accommodating for years
It is no different than being insulin dependent as long as it is taken as prescribed. I don't know why pharmacists don't understand this. It is a type of bias and discrimination.
Self-righteous people see ADD/ADHD as a moral failure. That attitude is sickening to me.
I hope you get some relief. It's debilitating!
Re: rcma (# 1294)
Rcma, you are taking 40mg of dextroamphetamine daily. Is that 2x10mg twice a day?
I self medicated with Dexedrine and other amphetamines in the 1970s long before a diagnosis but when they were readily available from many doctors. I did take the spansules. I also took Desoxyn which was pharmaceutical methamphetamine. May be the reason I don't get "speedy" on Adderall. These were brand name drugs as there were few if any generics available way back then.
I realize those days are gone but my next best choice would be the dextroamphetamine if I can find a generic that works without massive side affects.
Thanks again for that information as I wasn't aware Dexedrine was still prescribed.
Re: AR (# 1295)
Walgreens told me that they are not able told order brand name adderall xr 30mg for the last 2 weeks. I've been getting it their for 3 years with no issue as I hate the generics! It looks like I'm gonna be stuck with a generic version this month and I'm not happy. Any idea what's going on here? I can't start switch pharmacies monthly.
Re: Just Jamie (# 1288)
Yes! Walgreens! Clearly they can get SOME….convinced this is a greed issue and not a true back order one. Already getting anxiety for next month not sure i’ll get so lucky again.
Re: babymilli0naire (# 1293)
Enough of this. They're not the only game in town.
I am finding Supermarket pharmacies are generally nicer. :)
Right at my local Publix could get Lannett 15mg tabs, Rhodes 30mg. Generic Dexedrine/Zenzedi by MALLINKRODT. No issues.
I tried my old CVS on a chance and immediately got a #128 10 mg TEVA/ Barr generic Zenzedi/Dexedrine. Immediate no wait
Something is awry with Walgreens..... In particular. Idk
Re: Rcma (# 1291)
I agree, DUMP WALGREENS PHARMACY. They're a nightmare. Wait on hold for an hour to call & find out they're always out of stock or go to pick up a script & wait in line for another hour
Re: Cyr (# 1275)
I'm not the right person to ask. Because I'm currently being so under-dosed compared to what I'd been prescribed for more than 20 years, I wind up taking either 1 and 1/4 of the 30 mg pills or in this case 1 of the 30 mg and 1/2 of the 20 mg which happens to be the Camber. Because I'm taking a 30 mg Teva and 1/2 of a 20 mg Camber, I don't really notice that they might be crappy. Sorry that I'm no help on this. Take care.
Re: Debbie M in California (# 1290)
This is just awful. Suggestions that have worked for me:
1) DUMP Walgreens if they aren't working for you. For every pharmacist who is cold, unhelpful, uncaring and useless (been there done that), I have found 10 who are caring and genuinely helpful m Especially the women... get a new pharmacist! Develop a relationship.
2) Ask about every dose. I hear no no no on 30s. But when I ask about 10s or 15s suddenly they say "yes I have Teva in 15s". !!! Unreal. Ask them to check everything from 5s to 30s. Even Teva who said they shipped.... What does were shipped?
3) Ask your doctor for generic Zenzedi/Dexedrine if your pharmacist can get that medication in TEVA/Barr.
My heart goes out to everyone because I have been using MALLINKRODT and Rhodes for a few months and despite having OK and not so OK days ...on the whole I look back and say "no, it's been a really unproductive and more challenging few months and I'm getting to the point where I assume I'm not going to have energy or mental focus."
So sorry you are losing quality of life because of ignorance and profits. As I said to my doctor once - it's a bimonthly nightmare of humiliation and anxiety to get a refill. It's like medication refill PTSD.
I have also felt off for months, like I have early onset dementia and at times chronic fatigue - like I can't wake my brain up, or just put off errands and phone calls because I "can't find the energy or be bothered.". It's really a major quality of life issue.... any stigma around this medication is shameful and pharmacists should be reported and called out for unethical behavior.
When I first posted this message I had went to Teva to try and find out if there was a shortage of medication or not. I sent a message asking if they were back ordered or was the pharmacy I go to just not wanting to get it for me. I did get a reply about a week ago saying that I should go to Walgreens that they had shipped some to their supplier. I am glad you all are getting yours. I have a problem with the Walgreens in my area and that is they don't approve of the medication or this is the feeling I get when trying to get them to order it for me. They have never gotten the Teva brand or any for me. They just stall and say they don't know when they will get them I have been out of medication since last part of June. My pharmacy has my prescription but are not able to get them and offer Camber brand. I just left it and have not let it get to me. I am not functioning well. What else is new? I have all but given up on being "Normal".
Yes just left my local pharmacy. Have you tried a Walgreens? I can’t find it anywhere near me
Re: AR (# 1287)
Was this at Walgreens?
So happy your going to get back on track. Teva is the only one I can take and have heard they are closing plants. Backordered until Aug 1 in Ohio.
I want to cry! But tears of happiness. Like many of you, I picked up my prescription last month from Walgreens and never thought to check it before I left. Next day I realized they had given me a brand called Camber. It has been the worst month of my life. I had been dealing with Covid for 3 weeks and a few days after that I was hit with the worst food poisoning/stomach virus of my life. It brought on debilitating fatigue and depression that was no doubt made much worse by this terrible medication! Ima stay at home mom thankfully, but still couldn’t barely muster the energy to brush my daughters teeth or change her diaper..I’ve been taken 2-3 hour naps everyday. Something I’ve never done before. The depression has been the worst of all. Last week I called the pharmacy and explained how bad this med was for me if there was any remote possibility they could either order me only Teva or Sandoz but I cannot take this poison from Camber ever again. They notated my account and said they would try. Two days ago I called again and said my refill was coming up and I wanted to see if they had any luck securing the correct manufacturer. This was about 10 min before closing. She put me on hold to check the safe she said. About 5 min later she came back and said, there was enough in the safe that she would set mine off to the side with my name on it but that they weren’t really supposed to do that though she would for me this time. Today was my pickup day and I was so nervous in the waiting line, I couldn’t stand. They handed me meds and lo and behold! It was Teva!! I feel like such a crazy person being this excited. I just wanted to share to let others know don’t be afraid to be persistent and make sure to explain to your pharmacist what this med is doing. There may not be enough for everyone, but for those that are really sensitive to manufacturers it is worth bringing to their attention so you don’t have to accept something else that is so toxic to your body!
Re: Sp33dy (# 1265)
Aurobindo sucks, but then Alvogen and Lannet came along... God Alvogen is the only one thats available anywhere near me, and it makes Aurobindo look effective.
